Linking reward quality heavily to a power level grind that takes unemployed levels of commitment and not tying them more to activity difficulty or performance is insane.
How you could go flawless in or finish a raid and get tier 2 loot is a slap in the face to players.

4 RepliesIf you play casually, then play casually. Just don't expect to get all the same stuff as people who play more than you. That's how it works, plain and simple.
-
42 RepliesI work 45-50 hours a week and literally play like 2 hours a day and I'm 320. You're clearly doing something wrong.

1 ReplyAnd months later.... getting knocked back down to "200" power. I don't know who is making these decisions, But I hope their kid puts Lego blocks in their shoes.

Facts. I’ve always had issues with power leveling since I don’t play that much but it wasn’t that bad I’d get to max level much after the rest but still would get it. Now it’s like painstakingly slow of a grind I don’t think I’ll ever get to max power. I just broke 100 basically

Game is punishing people without lives too
-
Glad I chose my two 40 hour jobs in an economy that's so ridden against my generation it's wild... over Deadstiny 2
-
It's actually punishing people without lives. Playing the same thing over and over for high tier loot just so they can play the same thing over and over. Hamster wheel insanity!

5 RepliesI was slowly easing into the portal thing. Thinking that casually playing this game, doing whatever's got bonus engrams and logging out for past week. Then arms week came. And trials. And turns out that a) I am being punished in time limited event, during 3rd week, because I have not quit my job to hit 400. b) lighthouse is giving me tier 2 loot, because even though I am 300+ I haven't really played pvp, so my crucible rank is too low. Whenever I find something okay(-ish) bungie takes two huge steps back.

It is wild, how they somehow distort everything they add to the game. Like Calypso granting wishes in Twisted Metal or something, lol. "You want reasons to play the game? You're back to light level 10 and the grind takes 50x longer... oh and only 5% of the game gives rewards worth having. We're Bungie and we thank you for playing Destiny 2."

3 RepliesI seriously don't understand the mindset of rewarding time commitment over actual skill. The only place where skill is valued are Raid Feats. Everything else? Unrewarding unless you've done nothing but mindlessly grinding the same activities for days.
-
That’s why i got me a 2nd job, instead of playing this garbage and the it feels great.

13 RepliesIt’s obvious by the state of release, with all the bugs and glitches as well as broken weapons and maps, that no one at Bungie knows what a 40+ hour work week looks or feels like. And No. I do not consider Streamers being real workers. They sit at a desk playing games all damn day getting paid by donations from boot lickers who worship them or from ad endorsement. Streaming isnt work. They can turn off if they get tired or need a break. Real life workers cant. Hell there are times in my job I dont even get a weekend let alone a holiday if -blam!- kicks off somewhere.

1 ReplyUnfortunately that’s the way it is now, mega grind for poop rewards
-
The grind it's needlessly long, but honestly that is all that is in the game now. There's nothing beyond the grind, and the only purpose for the grind is the tier of loot rewarded. After hitting 400 it slows down so much that it almost doesn't even make sense to grind anymore, and then you realize that there's nothing to play with our new found power... one run conquests, and everything uses power delta rather than power level. So the gameplay loop this season is to get to 400 as quickly as possible, then play activities you want loot from at t4/5 and wait for the expansion. This arms week event was too early for most guardians to even get t3 loot if they were not actively trying to get power level early on. Solstice probably will be as well... unless it offers additional power leveling opportunities. I still haven't done my mythic or even fabled Kepler, because power level was more important for loot tiers, so that's what I'm going to do this next week with solstice...

6 RepliesI think saying “Linking reward quality heavily to a power level grind that takes unemployed levels of commitment” is an excuse. I work a full time job and pay bills like the majority of people here and I’m already close to 400 light. I barely touch the raid like once , I mostly play crucible and only play activities with multiple drops. How ever I do agree the power grind is a drag due to the lack of activities and lack of rewards completing them. I also agree with you that yes “tier 2 loot is a slap in the face to players.” Especially if they finished it flawlessly or in general. Lastly I would like to state it’s only been 2 weeks you still have 5 months and some weeks left to the next major update. So just play the game and have fun if not you’re just going to miserable and complain the entire time.

I wish people would just stop playing at this point ngl... let the numbers drop and the game die so they actually care about rolling out a decent product.

Edited by Skill Privilege: 8/4/2025 1:03:53 PMThe industry is moving away from grind. D2 game director is stuck in the past.

2 RepliesI wouldn’t be surprised if they start asking players to verify their age before playing the game next

3 RepliesWell destiny is a proper mmo now. In terms of grind.
