AE is fine it just prevent some builds to be op, SBMM gives fair play for everyone (since top players is only 5% of all community, CBMM matches for elites is easy walk, but compete nightmare for everyone else). Myself have over 1m kills in PvP for both parts of Destiny combined.

          • 176000 kills in Crucible. 3.3 million total Kills. 6300+ active hours in the game. Disabled vet..first Gulf. I ain’t happy with the current state of play, with PVP or PvE. Bungie ain’t gonna listen to players who spend real time in the game, anyway.

          • I must agree with when you said the part about SBMM being enabled, why not revert Airborne Effectiveness. I think alot of people won't realize what you said but I did. For those, Airborne Effectiveness was an issue solely because new players/lower skilled players hated how top teir players were able to jump everywhere and shotgun them. More specifically when they are pinned against a player that is always jumping over them and shotgunning down. But with SBMM, theoretically, those who aren't good at insane ninja moves go against same skilled people that aren't 360 no scopin. Let the top teir players be able to do -blam!- in the air and let those of us that aren't as good sloth around on the ground for 1 vs 1s. Of the top 1% in Trials, Stompees were 34% used exotic, AFTER the nerf. So top 1% players should be allowed to use stompees the way we all know they do, cause they are suppose to be in lobbies against likewise players anyways. Airborne Effectiveness is just Bungie trying to create new perks and mods, without having to actually invent something new. Why else would Rain of Fire boots come out the day Airborne Effectiveness was nerfed? If you nerf something then you can't make an exotic that reverse the nerf itself or else you are clearly not actually needing said nerf.
Hello. I have 5k+ active hrs in Destiny 2. Most of those I've spent in crucible as a weird solo, using non-meta loadouts and shouting at people who stack in quickplay. Anyhow, as the title says I've played this game a lot. I created this post to adress the current state of the game and to voice my opinion where things have gone wrong and what would fix this. About skill based match making. It makes everything worse for people who spend time in pvp and actually enjoy it. Depending on the platform, connections range from bad to horrible. You (Bungie) have made this mistake in the past. It was a mistake then, it is a mistake now. Why do you prioritize people who don't play pvp in favor of those who want to enjoy it daily? About team balancing. An excellent player is usually teamed up with the lowest skilled players in the lobby, while other team has all the mediocre ones. Even completely random teams would be better. Also trying to balance win/loss ratio to 50/50 removes all motivation to play objective. Let people win if they are good, don't force lossess on them by giving them a heavy sack of potatoes to carry if they've had a few wons in a row. About movement. Why limit what experienced players can do? Even more so if SBMM is enabled. Slide nerf, in air accuracy nerf (including Stompees) should be reverted. Let people enjoy the game as they once did. Destiny was famous for its excellent gunplay and movement, but now its a shadow of it's former self. You're removing the core of the game by nerfing movement. It's what makes this game Destiny. It's not time to dull things down, it's time to get good. About rewards in crucible. Many people who main pvp, have never played it for a reward. They play because they enjoy the core gameplay. Or used to enjoy. These days it's a boring, watered down, team shot, sit in a rift meta. All in favor of those who never enjoyed pvp. We do not need another Overwatch where people move like they are on rails. We need Destiny as it once was, and it used to be so good. Don't force people who don't like pvp to play it. I acknowledge that it's your game to do as you please. But as a dedicated player, I hate to see you ruin what once was so great. Please give us back our movement, and please give us back our ability to land our shots if our aim is true. Profile links for the other weirdos: https://crucible.report/report/3/4611686018467666980 https://destinytracker.com/destiny-2/profile/bungie/4611686018467666980/overview
Your first two points run counter to each other. You criticize SBMM as being bad for no lifers, except the reward you're supposed to get in a competitive game mode is bragging rights that you face stiffer competition. But then you want team balancing. How? How do you team balance when you have 1 no lifers with 5k hours in the game in a lobby with a bunch of casual players? You don't. That's the real benefit of actual SBMM. Everyone on each team will be much closer to the same skill level. The reason PvP feels so bad is because the only people -blam!- playing it are new lights who don't know any better and no lifers who enjoy stacking up and wrecking people. The middle skill people don't play anymore, and it's not because the rewards suck or because the game mode is bad. It's because the community sucks. Being teabagged by some 5k hour no lifer because I'm only in control to get arc kills on off meta guns while they're competing as hard as they can for a seasonal challenge is an -blam!- experience, and one I don't recommend to one single person. Crucible was receiving bad reviews for mismatched teams, lag issues, and a terrible community experience before SBMM came along and it'll be there long after Bungie repeals it again. They don't even use real SBMM anyway.

As a day 1 Destiny player with over 12,000 hours, I have 50k total PvP kills (around 30 flawless). You have 12x the PvP kills I have. I should literally NEVER EVER have to face you in PVP. This is why sbmm is needed. You dudes wanting to beat on casual PVP players is the definition of toxic and yet another reason they added back sbmm. (Doesn't necessarily apply to the OP bc they've shown some objectivity). The way I see it is you have a few options 1. Actually "git gud" in respect to your playtime. Cry me a river about how much you keep losing against people of your own skill bracket; other PvP mains. 2. Move to an actual PvP game if you think you're so good. Funny how Destiny PvP mains don't actually play the real PvP titles and play against a bunch of basically MMO type PvP casuals to feel good about themselves. You aren't shiii* as a PvP gamer lurking in Destiny.

                    • SBMM results in less unbalanced teams. You don't like carrying your teammates? SBMM makes that unlikely to happen, as your teammates are as good as you are. Lobby Balancing works best when there aren't extreme outliers in the mix. Nothing wrong with a 50/50 shot of winning a game. In fact, it's more exciting that way. No need to complain over it when there aren't rewards on the line. Fewer Mercy Rules is a good thing. Finally, if you honestly played Control "competitively" before the changes, then you weren't a real PVP fan anyway. Control only became a decent game mode for good players when Bungie added SBMM, because true PVP players crave challenges and excitement. There is nothing exciting about repeat Mercy Rules while waiting for a decent team to show up. Control is a single game mode among 4 or 5. The SBMM is "loose", and PVP is more than just Control. Bungie didn't "ruin PVP" for anyone by changing that one playlist. AE is fine as it is, but Bungie should create new ways to spec into the stat.

                      • Balance the games world loot pool! Then the match making would not matter nearly as much. 80+% of the weapons either need a higher skill level or are just niche to see if you can do good with them. If a player is higher skilled and they feel forced to use certain loadouts not to get ran over… this should tell you how imbalanced the game is. Look at the root of the problems, not the dead leaves on the ground.

                        • Connection Based Freelance is what is needed. I'm not sure why Bungie is fighting it. If Freelance couldn't be added because of technicalities, that would be one thing, but to add it to other gamemodes that most of the community don't really mess with, is confusing on another level.

                          • I've read this, and quite a few of the comments. I see the solution as the removal of all "forced" participation in PvP. I'm not getting into an argument about the "forced" part. I know all the "Git Gud", the "Play all the game", the "You're not forced to play", etc etc, on and on. The simple fact is Bungie wants players in Crucible for others to stomp on. There's no other possible reason. If a player goes into PvP for no other reason than to complete some quest, then who benefits? The player doesn't. He just gets a pocket full of annoyance. The stomper probably gets a thrill out of murdering someone, whereas others - possibly like the OP - are equally frustrated by a lack of real competition. Bungie gets nothing that I can see, unless streamers pay them. I've seen the objection to "forced" PvP many many, times over the years, and Bungie has never addressed it either by correction, or explanation. I recall a long time back that Bungie said they were going to reduce or eliminate the necessity to play PvP for quests and so on, but they never did. They doubled down and made it worse, which as Cayde said, "They always do!"

                            • Connections were and are laggy with or without LSBMM. Crossplay made playing on Xbox suck a$$ and convections even laggier. We've never really seen connections take priority. If you paid attention it was random-based matchmaking that favored teams and people with poor correlations. At the end of the day, I don't care if it's CBMM or SBMM, or LSBMM. Getting the AFK/no rewards treatment because I couldn't get enough kills after a match it's a bad experience. Ove many people will not stick around to repeat. PVP is only good when there is a healthy population and the only thing that will change that is rewards. The PVP team can't quantify true skill or convection latency, which is another issue. I think they only care about finding matches for the streamers playing hour after hour. I'm not sure if they consider people might be better at 6v6 vs 3v3, certain game modes, etc.

                            • Dude I am in the same boat as you its so frustrating to be sitting on top of a leaderboard in a lost game with 4 out of 6 of my other teammates have a less than one kd I'm a mid tier player and these changes have also put me into games where I get pubstomped so hard I'll be getting a negative kd and only one person on my team will be positive but with like a 3 or 4 kd they really aren't making the games better by forcing a 50/50 win loss ratio I'm down to play similar skilled players but that's not what's happening unfortunately they are putting players that are better into games where they are pretty much forced to lose because of teammates being less skilled and it would be better if every mode had a freelance mode but it wouldn't solve the main problems
