Forgive me if I am pointing the obvious here, however, what I keep noticing is that hunter mains are very upset by the recent nerfing of Renewal Grasps. I am upset by this too.
As the first exotic armour piece for stasis hunter (my favourite class/subclass) is reduced to ash. Like many exotics before it.
When checking socials, I noticed that a lot of the criticisms for the exotics gauntlets were from streamers and trial players that clearly don’t play hunter and resent hunters in pvp.
Imo, a lot of the criticisms and hype surrounding these exotics were hypocritical, and not a very good representation of what they are actually like to use in most activities that they were being used in.
Sure, SOME were using these exotics crazily good, but not everyone who used them were using them that insanely. Imo, a lot of users used the exotic causally throughout all content, not just in high end content.
The nerfing of these exotics also increases the void 3.0. In PVP, void 3.0 dominates pvp for all classes. And this gauntlet were used by many as a counter to this problematic subclass meta. Bungie have now removed that counter, which will simply just increase the use of void 3.0 and therefore the subclass meta.
Sure, that may change with the next subclass upgrade. But regardless, hunter stasis has become a lot less useful to run in pvp, and in many other activities too. These gauntlets have been reduced to being niche. A brand new exotic, the first for stasis hunter, now reduced to niche. Shameful.
Imo, Bungie listened to the wrong crowd when nerfing these exotics. They should have listened to the people that actively use them, as well as the crowd that -blam!- about them being “overpowered.” They weren’t. But whatever. People (especially streamers) exaggerated the power of this exotic so strongly that Bungie had no other choice, but to address them in a typically fashioned way: nerf them to the ground. Keeping a lot of loud voices and personalities happy.
Obviously, some people were exploiting them in pvp. But not all. Imo, most users were not doing this. Most in fact, we’re just genuinely enjoying them, causally.
Bungie nerfing this exotic to oblivion and keeping certain metas is cringe and for a game people play daily and spend a lot of time and money on should expect better solutions. Bungie can be creative with problems. They should be creative with solving the divide on the exotic gauntlets, Renewal Grasps. And I hope the conversation around this exotic doesn’t die down.
R.I.P. Renewal Grasps
Thanks for reading my little rant. :-)

19 RepliesEdited by hate n payne: 4/29/2022 2:48:52 AMTell us you needed the crutch without telling us you needed the crutch. It is the same as players who think Stompees and Loreley Splendor have a high skill ceiling. Delusional…I say….Delusional. I will say it once and I will say it again, players are not using the “best options” because they are the horrible. It is because their ez of use is higher in comparison to something that needs to have your behavior of play change or requires more effort in build crafting. Nobody is going to pick Polaris Lance over Dead Man’s Tale unless they prefer Polaris Lance or is build crafting towards it. Renewal Grasps, Loreley Splendor and Stompees are all silver spoon fed concepts that require no real effort but provided ample bonuses. There are many more trust me.

I sincerely hope this is bait. Very broken in PvP. Shouldn’t have been nerfed in PvE. Running around with constant 35% damage reduction in crucible is definitely not a good idea.

11 RepliesEdited by Meaga: 4/29/2022 6:32:58 AMThey were one of the most broken things in D2 history. If you think that crazy damage reduction was fair at all you’re nuts. 95% chance that this is bait though.

Edited by A_mo: 4/29/2022 3:03:29 PMI feel like they still work decently but they could nerf them even harder if they added an aspect that said "causes fusion users to have to shoot twice to kill you" because that was the biggest plus to using them. They made fusions work like they should work. Other than that they were definitely overpowered.

Way too long to read. The Renewal Grasps nerf was justified because Hunters were getting a comparable zone of control to a Titan bubble or Warlock Well of Radiance just for throwing a grenade. Granted it didn’t last as long as those SUPER abilities, but it was entirely unbalanced. PvP vs PvE balancing will always be hard because Bungie wants players to interact with both in comparable ways and so the game will feel consistent between modes. They’ve done a decent job changing the games systems over the years to accomplish this but ability cooldowns are just not that finely adjustable. Their best bet is probably having longer cooldowns overall and improving the wellspring perk/ability mods for PvE so that they are more effective there against combatants and less effective against guardians.

Gonna say this, I feel like a lot of people missed the point to my rant. I’m not sure how since I thought speaking more about it and saying the same points a few times would mean I’m being clearer. Might be my fault or that people are stupid. But anyway, eh

1 Reply😆 🤣 hunter tears.

1 ReplyI'm guessing you dont play pvp

4 RepliesDude you are sooo wrong, also they aren't the only exotic armour for stasis with hunter. There is mask of bakris.

1 ReplyRenewal Grasps we're as OP and oppressive as bubble during Trials last week. The only difference was that Graps started going on round one, and bubbles closed out rounds the and four. Graps were stupid good. Renewal Grasps are still a top tier exotic. If you build into maximum grenade regen... Something like 100 discipline, double grenade Kickstart, double bomber you can still get Duskfield back in under a minute. At base the exotic will prevent you from being 3 tapped, and will prevent OHK body shots from most special weapons. If you also spec 60 Resilience most crits from special weapons (like chappy) can't OHK you.

1 ReplyToo much to read, I’m just gonna simplify this. Nerfs should not affect pve, nuff said.

1 ReplyEdited by THE GRIND IS REAL: 4/28/2022 6:10:11 PMYep this is why I quit playing destiny I knew they wer gonna head down the nerf road a few weeks into the season i don't understand why the grasps got nerfed you had to make a whole build round them asin fragments/subclass/ASPECTS to benefit from using them when warlock just bang a helmet on ANY subclass with the stag on void/stasis/ark/solar

1 ReplyI grant that Renewal Grasps needed a nerf, but GOLDURNITT, it didn't need to be "two and a half minutes cooldown" nerf. That's just insane, and it makes it so non-buildcrafters don't get to play with it effectively (in fact, it makes Renewal Grasps WORSE for your grenades instead of better if you don't get a build around it)

5 RepliesProblem is, nobody who likes an item in this game thinks their item is broken. Look at shatterdive hunters. 10 months of pure dominance with a cancel super every 45 seconds and they thought that the ability to one shot roaming supers with a grenade/melee ability was "balanced". I had to listen to my hunter main friend complain about the Stompees nerf (and it's not even a nerf, the exotics just won't be part of the new air attack thing, they'll otherwise function perfectly) for 3 hours last night, not being able to understand why they're getting nerfed "so harshly". I'm a warlock main, and I don't believe my Phoenix protocol was hurting anybody and then it got nerfed. It's just how things roll.

1 ReplyI think the only area that the Devs went truly overboard on was the cooldown change. Should have been made to match Coldsnaps base, not Glacier

1 ReplyEdited by Vanzen: 4/27/2022 3:35:59 PMOnly exotic I used instead of Stompees Back to Stomp I guess. I even can agree with a slight nerf, damage reduction and increase cool down, but not to that extent ... And its even more annoying considering the time spent to farm this in lost sectors and the 3 shards invested. Its really not a nice move from Bungie ....

3 Repliesim not gonna lie everytime i saw a renewal dusk field i like never saw a hunter in itthey honestly never seemed that strong to me
