Some of y'all hating on 120s need a history lesson.

Are they a bit overturned? Yes. Is it the worst meta ever? Not by a long shot. Remember three tap Luna's Howl and Not Forgotte from 45 meters away? Remember Recluse with its .47 bodyshot ttk? Remember Erentil (still salty about that nerf, fusion main for life). Or what about when shotguns could reach almost 12 meters? (Dust Rock Blues anyone?). And that's just been in the past year or two, it doesn't even count Graviton's reign of terror, or Last Word and Thorn in D1. So maybe yeah, 120s could do with a slight range nerf. But tbh I don't think I've ever seen a meta where the dominant weapons have a 1 second ttk. I'm actually enjoying this one, other than frickin' Stasis.

  • People that defend obnoxious metas are the ones that abuse it the most. You probably tried defending all the other metas you listed.

    • I see a lot of hand cannons on that list with a lot of hand cannons left off of that list... Spare, dire d2, eysaluna pally d1, hawkmoon d1, its always a hand cannon meta. The problem is hand cannons out class range damage and ease of use over every weapon at every range. Maybe its the same hand cannon meta non sweats hate on.

For one, 120s are incredibly overpowered, albeit part of the blame lies with the netcode. But with hitboxes that make Arbalest blush and range that encroaches on Scout Rifle territory? On top of an uncontestable TTK with any form of damage buff or wounded target? Yeah, that's pretty broken, BEFORE netcode jank is mentioned. Not to mention 0.67 in terms of TTK had a few options that could theoretically compete with the twins in terms of raw TTK. Not to mention the pretty limited user base due to the (at the time) daunting task of even getting Luna, much less Not Forgotten. And Erentil being meta isn't entirely solidified back in even those days, since kill numbers showed it lagging behind the other 2 major special weapon types. Far as I'm aware, Dust Rock capped out at about 9-10 pre-nerf. I'm actually enjoying this one, other than frickin' Stasis.[/quote] Well, you're currently seeing one. 120s dominate the kill charts to the point where ~41% of all Trials kills are... Well, HCs in general, but the bulk of them are 120s. Nothing else offers the same flexibility, ease of use, and raw power with little to put into them as 120s. They've gone from niche option for that extended range and 2-shot potential, to generally useless, to completely broken, considering the little to no effort involved in not only getting headshots, but also getting a 0.5 second TTK effectively anywhere on the map. https://youtu.be/ZoFE5e8zzHs

        I don't remember getting 3 tapped by luna from 45 meters away, but I'll take it all day if someone managed to 3 crit me from 45 meters, shotgun has never reached 12 meters at any point, the best you can ever do is 9.5 meters with a titan bubble buff from a super lucky shot on god roll Mindbender and that was gone a year ago don't take it literally when they say make your own destiny

      • And shotguns still can one tap kill you from stupid ranges. Just put the special ammo in the box like the heavy. Then again, I forgot ppl can't shoot good enough lol.

            • It's all part of bungie's plan. Step 1: pick under used archetype and over buff it. Step 2: nerf it. Step 3: repeat with next under used weapon the following season.

              • So we can't hate on the current meta because there have been metas in the past? What? I don't understand why they can't make it so all guns are equally viable. It's really not that hard. Bungie just want to always have 1 weapon ruling for a period then switch it up.

                  To be honest I would rather have mountain top and recluse or be mowed down by the 180 not forgotten then be flinched out of every shot by 1 bullet from an igneous hammer

                • I watched a man shoot someone in the kneecap and it counted as a crit. It wasn't a rushed shot. There was no lag or desync. He stopped, stood still for a second, the target player never moved either. Then he aimed at the kneecap intentionally and held his sights there for a second. Fired one time. Crit damage. As if it were headshot. There were no other things going on. The target player wasn't slowed or frozen, they weren't tethered or anything. No status effects. They also pull off headshots by aiming at the shoulders, or anywhere within 3ft of the head. And to top it all off, their damage at scout range is comparable to scouts. Any hand cannon that can 2-tap at 60m (god roll igneous for example) is too strong in both damage and range.

                  • The funny thing is that it appears 120s have their own range rules. I would have them revert back to regular handcannon range rules and maybe that would help with the large hit box.

                    • These people have not stopped complaining since they started playing the game. There has always and will always be a meta, and these people complain over and over. Instead of adapting they'd rather complain because their off brand niche weapon isn't performing well.

                      • This post is dumb because you are overlooking a variable, prevalence. The absolute amount of 120s in the Crucible is creating one of the least fun, unoriginal, and outright LAME metas I've ever been apart of. I'd rather both LoW and Pro-Lens go back to their unnerfed states than deal with another minute of teams running all 120+shotty.

                          • I love the current meta, but we need to tune down 120 range so that Pulse Rifles and Scout Rifles have some room to breathe. I think the real big issue in the current meta is the prevalence of Shotguns due to the multiple Sniper nerfs we have seen season after season and the size of the maps in rotation.

                                It is the worst meta. Atleast with Luna's howl you can fight it at range (Not forgotten got past this weakness but luna's was more common) With the 120 meta you can't fight at any range. You get in there face shotgun, you try and lane them with a scout they can 2 or 3 tap you. You can't fight them behind cover because they just fast peek and 2 or 3 tap you.

                              • 120s are toxic because of the high damage per shot and range. Not the TTK. 90 damage off one shot leaves you pretty vulnerable. Also enables one body shot with a high impact sniper to one body from a 120 for an easy cheap kill.

                              • Honestly, 120s are fine, it's the lobby balancing that makes them seem totally broken. If you're getting matched against opponents who are a lot better than you and they're all using 120s, they're going to seem totally broken. In most people's hands, 120s are totally fine.
