If Awoken technology is so damn good why does Petra still only have one eye?

There's more than one purpose for an eyepatch other than patching an ailed eye. Pirates wore 'em in the day to preserve their night vision. Allowing them to target merchant ships with the element of surprise, precision, and stealth. Three aspects I akin Petra to.
