Bungie totally ruins IB again - thanks for “listening”
Yep, it’s IB time and Bungle drops a hot stinky one with the ever changing and worthless armor 2 quest for the season - the magical “get kills with weapons that you would never use” grind.
Oh, it’s all about “learning” and “growing” having to run up and die to get shotgun or scout rifle kills. But the BEST part boys and girls is that while your zone control and total kills are cumulative - you can’t “build up” credits for the weapon kills until the quest slides down the sewer.
So you are treated to having to the 10 rocket launcher kills after you have probably played 10-12 matches. How fun!
Yes Bungle, just spit in our face please after we complained about the ability kill bounty - now you put the worst garbage yet - you are dependent on special ( shotgun kills) and heavy ( rocket launcher) which we all know spawns like popcorn in matches ( Sarc is ON)
At least the grenade launcher kills ( the heavy of last season) could be done with alternate ammo types - but rockets? Fight for the spawn!
Yep - it’s not IB. It’s insane risks to get the kills time when you are not playing -you are chasing stupid quest requirements
If you had halved the weapon bounty totals or let them build as we played - I would have no issue - but this is middle finger to the players
So a hearty middle finger to the A-Team that dreamed this up. ( the team with the hole too - not the one that is good)

I’m fine with busing different weapons but I think the heavy issue is something that should be looked at. I was thinking either bow kills and heavy bow kills grant double progress or alternatively, you collect the quest and all steps are present so you can work through your 10 heavy kills throughout the entire time. Either of these changes would be good.

2 RepliesI see positives and negatives, but unfortunately there's a lot more negatives. Positives - The pinnacle bounties are fairly easy and will come naturally as you progress through the quest line - The quest steps up until the rockets portion are also pretty easy. Scout kills, shotgun kills and HC kills are 3 pretty common load out weapons, and 25/20/15 isn't asking a lot for actual final blows. - Along with the Dawning quest, constantly playing IB does net crafting materials (although I hate the Dawning quest requirements, so its a positive towards a negative) Negatives - No new armor. Old armor marked as 2.0, which... y'know, meh, cuz the armor you get through the seasonal ranks actually has good rolls once you get above the 50's, and the seasons change so frequently now there's no point masterworking anything - No new weapons. Kinda inexcusable. The bow got nixed until season 10, and there's not even any reskins. For collectors, you're really only doing the quest line for an emblem (and a random shot at the ship, which a lot of us got LAST season) - The rocket quest step. It's just gonna take a while. For many folks, more than one rotation of IB. Which I'm sure was the point. But when there's no new armor OR weapons, why play for nothing once the quest itself gets irritating? If you aren't offering us anything NEW, people who don't have to do the quest once it gets difficult just WON'T. I just don't get this iteration of IB. I don't. It isn't giving us anything new. But its asking us to do things to "finish" it. Why? If you aren't an emblem chaser, once you finish your pinnacles you're just going to stop. Oh, and don't get me started on pinnacle power increases. They mean nothing. If you get your power rank up through XP leveling, you'll eventually just hit next season's soft cap and get further than the pinnacles would've gotten you in the previous season. So who cares?

I'm afraid I gotta agree; they release a game with an objective, but this is quickly replaced by a new objective of camping the heavy ammo to stand a chance of winning the lottery to try and get 10 kills to fulfil a bounty. Pretty salty.

The armor you get is low specced and useless compared to what drops for completing the bounties. So unless you are try for a god roll weapon, don't sweat the "quest" steps. The armor is rehashed garbage from the very first D2 iron banner any way.

And yes they were my own final blows . So yeah another reason not to do this shit quest for shit ugly armor. Its not a high requirement at all and it would be easy if the system actually tracked kills properly.

5 RepliesEdited by fangfireskull: 12/26/2019 4:57:06 AMhonestly can't be bothered this time around. first game we went up a against a clan with a warlock who rushed our spawn and wiped our team in the first minute of the match. left that then got thrown into a game in progress and lost, everyone was rushing with shotguns. usually ib is bad but tolerable, but not this time. also saw arsenal of tricks, a bounty everyone hates, which has been acknowledged as a hated bounty, is still here for the third ib in a row when the other bounties haven't been rotated in.

3 hours for 5 rocket kills still need 5 but gave up for the night this week i think it will be only the one character getting it done il do the rest next ib and most likely the next one after that if my sanity can take it

Guess what's more fun. Just got a triple with Wardcliff but it counted as one kill.. 6/10 getting pretty salty. Basically I just want to quit every match where I can't get any RL kills. The old IB sword quest was bad but qt least you could use the empty hilt.

2 RepliesWtf is my team avoid heavy like it’s Ebola. I always seem to be the only person on my team contesting heavy vs the whole enemy team. So frustrating trying to get the rocket bounty done.

As I can't get gear from bounties, I did two on one character, and done with IB. Really, heavy ammo weapon kills with all that nerfs (good ones) to heavy ammo spawn? No, I want to challenge my oponents, not my teammates. I liked pre Shadowkeep structure of IB bounties more. Those was very clear and even push you to win some matches, with SK release you even do not need win single match.

Anyone getting the same pinnacle reward?. Out if 8 I got 4 swarm of ravens. 2 other heavy. And 2 energy. A lot of help that is.

I totally agree. It's hard enough getting the ammo in the first place but to then get rocket kills that most people can jump out of the way of. Ridiculous. At least you don't need to finish that quest to get the pinnacle gear. 4 bounties done, no need to touch iron banner now.

It's pretty awesome that the quest is glitched. I've gotten like 30 shotgun kills, but it still says 9/20.

1 ReplyIM frustrated that they claimed they were going to a dress the ability kill brownie come and been did nothing about it. So much for the community managers and what they say. I'm not too fond of the rocket launcher kills step, but with double stacked scavenger and truth you can get 3 rockets if you pick up a crate that was dropped. My biggest problems is the fact that the armor you get from the quest has base level stats. We should at least be getting low sixties.

Surely by now we all agree Bungie is completely inept at providing a balanced quest system for PvP? Use weapons that aren’t your optimum, making you play worse for your team. Follow objectives that require selfish play, making you play worse for your team. Have to camp heavy to pass an objective, making you play worse for your team. Anyone who says Iron Banner is a pinnacle activity and that’s why power should matter is deluding themselves. It’s obvious from how Bungie treat the IB quests that they definitely don’t consider it a pinnacle activity.

I legit just resorted to walking around and sitting next to the heavy. Halfway through my last match some dude on the opposing team emote pointed at the heavy as it came in. I picked it up and killed his teammate 😂 it's annoying out there. I just want the gear because I don't have it. I'm so damn annoyed with this entire thing. And yeah, rocket kills of all things...BS
