So... what will be the point of playing competitive at all in season of the undying?
Edit*
Added my reactions to TWABs below.
Bungie- “we have reworked the competitive playlist so that it is more accommodating to solo players and removed all of the unpopular game types”
Me- “YES... FINALLY!”
Bungie- “ we have removed any incentive at all to play our newly overhauled and solo player accommodating competitive playlist if you played last year and have all of that pinnacle weapons already”
Me- “face palm”

4 RepliesI mean I still need to hit unbroken but who the hell wants a scout rifle for pvp? Talk about a boring play style.
-
I personally dislike when comp modes have exclusive rewards that impact gameplay. The reward itself will bring in people without the comp mindset, and those looking to do whatever possible to receive the reward.
-
Maybe the new "pinnacle" weapons will be comp related
-
They should have made nf and recluse exotics. They should come out with dope armor sets that signal status.
-
What about just the enjoyment of crushing people's souls?
-
Doesn’t mean the old ones are going away. With the new less punishing glory system, i will try to grind that fable rank now.
-
4 RepliesSo...once again, Bungie decides to penalize certain weapons because they're too strong? SMH. Why even bother getting these weapons? Again: if you grind mercilessly for certain weapons, there should be a worthy reward attached to it. Who cares if weapons earned from one game mode is strong in another? This is getting ridiculous
-
There might be a "hidden" ritual weapon in comp sorta like not forgotten.
-
Why play destiny? Let me guess...key fragments? Hidden chests on a 5 minute timer?
-
Part of their quest to casualize PvP and make it more accessible — especially for New Light.

8 Replies... because it's fun?

1 ReplyPeople that don't have all pinnacle weapons. Not Forgotten Unbroken And if you have Unbroken you are among the group that likely enjoys comp and plays just for fun
-
6 RepliesWith no pinnacle weapons, they better seriously up the rewards for playing PvP. Otherwise there will be zero reason to ever enter the Crucible.

Destiny Dev Team: The decision to stop creating extremely powerful pinnacle weapons was made for a variety of reasons. The first was that the band in which “pinnacle” perk can exist is actually quite small, and most of them far exceeded the efficacy they should have been at. Another issue is that they cause problems in the player ecosystem, particularly in the case of the Crucible pinnacle weapons. Due to the nature of PvP and PvE, anything that works well in PvP is likely going be extremely effective in PvE as well. This forces players into the Crucible if they want the “best” loadouts. Even the title of “pinnacle” set a variety of unrealistic expectations. Rather than being the absolute height of Legendary power, they were supposed to be interesting novelties to chase.

I don't have a problem with them taking out pinnacle weapons, but if they aren't adding trials any time soon then comp should get some specific gear. ....Gear along the lines of Destiny 1 year 3 trials weapons/armor Those weapons didn't have a blatant advantage over everything else, they just had strong rolls on popular archetypes, with an added snap shot or last resort for the adept versions. A hawksaw could hang with a last perdition, a god rolled hawksaw could be even better that a last perdition.. and so forth.

2 RepliesBungo doesn't DGAF about PvP, especially comp. They removed Trials and have no plan to bring it back. They're removing maps and giving us 2 maps from a 5 year old game. Taking away pinnacle weapons. Bungo DGAF about PvP.

Pinnacle weapons were introduced to appease PvP youtubers/streamers. They were introduced at a time when Bungie finally realized that balance in the crucible wasn't working. Pinnacle weapons and quickplay were introduced to bring PvP youtubers/streamers back into the game. They have been crying about wanting to pubstomp in every game since D1 and Bungie finally caved. It was all about appeasing the PvP crowd. Just compare pinnacle weapons for comp and PvE. The power wasn't even close. PvP guns destroyed where the PvE pinnacles maybe had a cool feature at best. Not Forgotten was the perfect name for a gun that would dominate the crucible for a year. They could have easily named any or all PvP pinnacles as "The Forgotten" as that was what they pretty much were. Just getting to the point, pinnacle weapons were never meant to be that strong, they were just made that way to reel the PvP guys back in.
-
In my opinion this is what will separate the true pvp players from the “cool” pvp players. The pinnacle weapons were all training wheels anyways.
-
Play it because it's a competitive game mode. Why play football? Why play street fighter?

12 RepliesEdited by superluigi6968: 9/27/2019 8:19:10 AMThe funny thing is, now that Bungie has plainly told us what they wanted "pinnacle" weapons to be, it's become apparent that they were never supposed to be pinnacle weapons anyway. They chose the wrong word to describe neat-o guns. Thinking of them as neat, novelty weapons makes WAY more sense. 21% is definitely a novelty, as is Hush, as is Mountain Top (or it's supposed to be), as is Oxygen SR3, etc. And then they made Recluse. What exactly did they expect to happen? Recluse is just a monster. Its perk is just way better kill clip. All it does is increase its damage output. What exactly did they think was novel about "lol it's just really good"? Was it novel because it was an SMG? The real weird part is that they're JUST NOW changing this, and apparently were okay with letting the community think these were all supposed to be best-of-their-type weapons for a full year or so, despite that apparently not being true.

9 Replies*relieved sigh* I’m just glad they left luna’s howl alone this time. .... My boy’s been through enough already.
-
Well to be fair, forcing yourself to play comp only because the best weapons for PVP and PVE are in there was the issue to begin with. And those pinnacles weapons were only covering the fact that competitive was not fun. If they make competitive more fun, then players won't mind going there once in a while.

2 RepliesWill we still be able to get old Pinnacle weapons?
-
1 ReplyHonestly I was super hyped about shadow keep until I heard about this and I dont even know if I feel like bothering with this game anymore. Once you do the pve content in like 2 weeks all that's left is pvp, that now has no rewards..... fun.
-
If you haven't gotten them yet this is your time to do so. They should remove comp and put back in trials for the weekend. I got 10 people that don't play simply because there is no pinnacle pvp activities anymore(no iron banner doesn't count) We raided, grinding pve but the top thing for all of us was the weekend pvp.

1 ReplyLmao you boosted comp as recently as the 3rd and you ask for a point? You are the reason there are none
