Competitive Crucible - Glory Tuning

Today (3/5/19 - 2:15 PM Pacific), we've deployed a change to Destiny 2 that will re-tune the amount of Glory Rank points gained and lost in the competitive crucible playlist. Compared to previous seasons, Glory gains and losses have been effectively doubled. Our goal in this change is to make the ranked playlist more inviting to a larger amount of players. This means more access to pinnacle weapons, higher ranks, and more people to compete against at those higher ranks. As always, we’ll be monitoring feedback over this change. Thank you![/quote]

  • So wins increase rank more and loses decrease rank more. Okay I defiantly will NOT be solo queuing comp at all then. 4 stacks is realistically the only to win, unfortunately.

  • For the love of Shax, please rethink this change! We need more people on the competitive play list and removing double Glory points is not the way to do it. We have P2P connection, cheating, quitting, matchmaking that half the time doesn't even work, 3 vs 4 and now you want to remove more points from a loss! Why? There's already good feedback on this thread. Bloody hell, communicate! Reward your players. Do not penalize them, do not demoralize them.

  • Lose MORE points in Competitive from a loss? Why? As a guy who is basically always a solo player; all my friends are either not any good at crucible or just say heck no to Competitive, how would an almost guaranteed constant loss of even MORE points than normal make me want to come play? That makes no sense... Have fun with the sweatfest that you just created. lol.

  • Bunch of programmers with no mathematics or logic skills? If players didn't play before because they couldn't progress, just doubling wins AND losses doesnt help at all. Double the win, keep loss penalty same would be a change.

    • So if you have a 50% success (which most do not).... nothing changes. And if you have less than 50% success rate (which most do) you go down a lot quicker. How on earth is that going to attract more players?

    • Ya know what? I’ll take it! I know math is hard for some (myself included), but the math works in your favor. You just need to get the occasional win streak. I’m a solo player working on the Luna’s quest , but I don’t complain about it. If I get in a match with a group and we seem click and know what we’re doing I quickly screen shot the names and message them to group up. I can usually get one or all to join which really helps my chances. If anything I have someone to share the pain with. I’m also ok with losses deducting points. No explanation given! I think if there was a comp bounty system along the lines of Gambit/IB, but Glory points awarded. Maybe the usual headshot kills, bomb defuses, win total games for the week or something. The bounty would give you glory points or a loss boon. Maybe it would just be enough each week to offset some losses, but not enough that bounties and the weekly participation points would get you the weapon. I hope Bungie doesn’t make this easier.

    • Hey are you guys ever going to address the issue of people leaving mid match and screwing over the rest of their team? It keeps happening and I don't understand why I should be penalized for other people being sore losers. It's extremely frustrating.

"The goal in this change is to make the ranked playlist less inviting to the largest amount of players by ensuring pinnacle weapons get snagged up by the best players earlier in the season so they can beat down on average players that may have stood a chance if we didn't make any changes. It also protects the account recovery service providers by making it easier to get the weapons for their customers. Overall, this means less access to pinnacle weapons, lower ranks, and less people to compete against at those higher ranks." "Brilliant! Let's do it!"

    • For those who cant math: Lets say that its a constant amount you recieve for win and same amount for loss. Pre- change Win = 30 Loss = - 30 2 wins = 60- 1 loss = 30 Post change Win = 60 Loss = -60 2 wins = 120 - 1 loss = 60 So as you can see you will rank up twice as fast as you would without this system. I think it is a good thing for those struggling to reach higher ranks

      • Remove losing penalty or bring solo vs solo match making to avoid the paid carries team. Another best suggestion is Bungie team can do paid carry?

        • what a joke stack teams no body who solo got a chance to get luna or anything , yeah we give you more points when you win , but we screw you over if lose games you lose lot more point really , if am not able get luna this season which the odds are about 80% i dont like last 2 seasons, , pvp in d2 just admit it sucks d1 pvp was so much better

        • I'd play competitive probably 90% of the time if i didnt have to select the playlist after every single match. Whats the point of that anyway?

          • I have a 1.8 kd (not great but ok). Im always in top 3 (mostly top 1) of my team. But i only have a ~40% win ratio. I will never get those pinnacle pvp weapons. But im ok with it. I just stay out of crucible.

              • All this accomplishes is making pinnacle rewards faster for people who were already capable of getting them. Faster for account recovs, and much more punishing for a loss streak. I fought tooth and nail for my lunas last season. Gonna finish getting my mountain top, help some friends get their lunas. But as far as "more inviting to more players" you really missed the mark there. I know a couple people who were considering trying comp this season, but they were made more nervous by this change, rather than feeling more welcome in the playlist. I guess the good news is i can purposely lose rank much faster so im not screwing up my teammates matchmaking.

                • This might look great and i am no means a great pvp player.I do alright but not the best either.The problem is you doubling them both because if you win five in a row great but if you loose next five your right back where you were.I like the idea from another post about making each major rank up a checkpoint.So once you go from guardian to brave your checkpoint is brave even if you dont win you wont go back to guardian.

                    I like that you want to make things more inviting but this change does no such thing. The second someone wins 4 in a row and is over 300 they’ll feel good about themselves and keep playing. Once they lose 5 in a row and are back down to 16 points, they’re going to quit forever. There’ll feel like it’s unattainable and give up. How is that doing what you say you want it to do? I’ll give it a go, we’ll see. I’ve almost quit the game all together because of comp, even though I want the gun, it’s just not worth the stress and anger it causes when I lose many many games without ever shooting one bullet, ie 3v4, account recovery, and 4 man +2kd teams vs all solo players. Bottom line, even though I’m one of the most stubborn ones, I’m about burnt out 😒 Edit: My point is proven by ConcentricArc’s comments just minutes after my post.
