From the Dev Team:
Hey Everyone, World Systems Team here to give you a quick update.
Today (3/5/19 - 2:15 PM Pacific), we've deployed a change to Destiny 2 that will re-tune the amount of Glory Rank points gained and lost in the competitive crucible playlist. Compared to previous seasons, Glory gains and losses have been effectively doubled.
Our goal in this change is to make the ranked playlist more inviting to a larger amount of players. This means more access to pinnacle weapons, higher ranks, and more people to compete against at those higher ranks.
As always, we’ll be monitoring feedback over this change.
Thank you!
So wins are doubly incentivised and losses doubly punitive - that’s not going to encourage more cheating at all.... 🙄 I’m all for increasing point gain but increasing the losses too - nope.

2 RepliesI played comp all day yesterday and all day today and ended the night with 171 whopping Glory points. Instead of having fun I end up wanting to choke slam somebody.

1 ReplyJust stop it. How about you actually pay attention to what people are suggesting in these forums. Fix the fvcking matchmaking. Use some of your capital to invest in dedicated servers like almost every other game with a PvP element. Stop introducing nerfs and buffs to try and control what weapons amd supers we use. Stop pushing Gambit so hard. Fix what we have instead of messing with the sandbox and releasing hollow content.

I see a variety of skills at the bottom of the ranks but I feel that there should be a level requirement or something before entering competitive. Just had a level 14 on my team.. fresh .. only character. They played one round of Survival and after being defeated over and over.. first knocked out they quit. Then somehow got back into the match after a few rounds and quit again. Don’t know if there is a re-connect now but usually when someone leaves it gives the prompt in the bottom left of the screen. There was no foul play going on as the teams seemed evenly matched and it was a lobby of solo players. It would be a win/win for both the new player to keep them from being completely destroyed and discouraged and for the other players that happen to get matched with this player on their team.
-
Sone advice for solo players like me, its not a good time to start the grind for Luna because glory has been reset and that means you will go against stacks and pro gamers with NF a lot more often as they also start from 0 glory, just wait a week or two for them to get some rank before you start.
-
I can not trust bungie. Just by eliminating the penalty, many people are saved. A quick overflowing with Luna, a battle that became an earning place for agencies. This situation is no longer motivated.

8 RepliesThe state of Competitive is just all around terrible. It is by far the worst experience in the game. Yes, even worse than Gambit which has actually improved quite a bit since the new season. Back when Redrix Claymore was announced I was thoroughly excited to play comp. And even though it was a rough climb I managed it. The population of players in comp felt fairly balanced (unless running into stacks). I even managed to get Luna's. But now I can tell without a shadow of a doubt that Comp is bleeding a balanced player base with what I'm running into within the first few Sub-Ranks! Not full ranks but Subs. I should not be running into top tier players in Brave II. Period. And now the climb isnt even remotely enjoyable. I actually had a moment of asking myself, yet again because I did the same thing last season, "Should I just quit comp all together?" The simple answer is absolutely. But I really do enjoy PvP. And I like to think of myself as a pretty good player (not high tier by any means but definitely competent enough to get Redrix and Lunas mainly as a solo player). But so far I quit Mountaintop, and now I'm wondering if I should just quit Recluse. And what really sucks and hurts the most (yes it hurts because I LOVE Destiny) is that if I cannot enjoy something within the game that I love. Than it actually makes me dislike the game as a whole and starts making me not want to play period. I enjoy PvE from time to time and loot collecting, but I dont consider myself a strictly PvE player. So if these PvP experiences sting this much then it sincerely hurts my morale for even wanting to playing the game. Comp needs a lot of love. I respect the PvE changes and additions, especially with the competition now. But Comp needs quite a bit of attention. My 5 cents.

Here's an idea to ignore bring back fn trials cheap skates... quit using its clearly as a way to sell y3 or the next dlc cause every excuse given has been fruitless with comparisons to comp where they ban people reporting exploits not the cheaters them self where you can get banned from exposing the cheaters not the cheaters getting banned... so here's another idea to ignore quit sponsoring cheating.. someone gonna think I'm some scrub but no I know so many game breaking exploits it's not funny and I was threatened with a ban for exposing them so I'm salty af...

I live and breath Destiny crucible I'm just average but as a solo player this has been the worst experience past couple months in comp. The beginning of season 6 and lost about 11 comp in a row. At this point I am just not having a good time. I could find a team but they are all elites that dont know how to enjoy a game and blame every little thing on something. I was matched up with all solo players on my team against a sweaty clan. But its whatever.

Edited by kristy711: 3/7/2019 4:48:43 PMAn idiotic ideea, complete nonsense, if Bungie try to gather more players for competitive then they should decrease the rate of losing points when losing match, not double it...even if they double points earned when win the match...what they did it is not helping the players at all, it is just the same that it was ..just double...so, if you lose you will be double punished...hm..what idiotic pvp department! They have a lot to do with matchmaking and equilibrate matches according to skill level of the players to avoid mathces with this huge gap between the skill level of the players who are playing the same match, to avoid humiliation suffered by the players with lower skill level wich are the only way that the pvp are functioning right now..it is a total mess and chaos where the good players are destroying average and below average players...it"s make me sick!!!

2 RepliesYeah great still loading into 3v4 matches though 👍

I dont know why you guys always do stuff we never wanted or asked for, it goes to show your devs dont really play the as we do otherwise they would know most of these things. But how many time do we need to say this or do a youtuber needs to say it . GET CONTROL OUT OF THE COMP PLAYLIST!
-
7 RepliesThis was the dumbest idea yet. Such bs. Who asked for this? No one.
-
My kd is around 1.5 and my buddy is around 2.4. We were last in competitive grinding for a Luna which after much swearing and many a "joypad through the window moment" we got. However, I think I would be less inclined to play if I thought my losses would be doubled (even if the wins were) as think would disincentive me to play. To be polite, I think this is a decision that would benefit from further consideration.
-
1 ReplyI'd recommend implementing a loss streak cap: after 5 losses you stop losing glory until you win another game, then the loss streak can reset. That would be more inviting to lower-skill players or people who keep getting matched against 4-stacks that are irrefutably superior in skill.
-
5 RepliesThis change is no good for solo players. I'd consider myself slightly above average on this game but this season I cant even move out of the first tier because 1-2 losses bring you all the way to the beginning. I've had 2 games out of 5 today that someone straight up left on my team before the game started. I think the system needs reverted or just keep the losses the same as before. If you really want to open up to more players, bring back trials! The sweats will mostly flock there, plus you can help friends without being penalized so newer players have a better chance.
-
This change doesn’t address the root cause of the problem. Having streaks as the way to progress in a playlist that by design normalize good teams to 50/50 win ratio is utterly illogical. I have never been more frustrated with a gaming scoring system. I am losing faith in the thinking process of the development team. Just like the decision of changing the trials boon system by removing the mercy boon. Honestly, it just caused me to play it less. You run couple of cards (2 to 4 hours depending on when you lose 4th or 6th game). I went from trying to go flawless on each character to barely getting one to finally not even attempting it. I truly love this game but I feel like we are being pushed away. It will take sometime but I’ll eventually get over this game and move on. It has been a hell of 4 years +. Thank you Bungie for all the memories good and bad.

This is a terrible idea actually and really makes me believe that you all do not listen to any feedback and great suggestions that have been mentioned on this topic, both here and Reddit. It amazes me just how much you all do not have your finger on the pulse to this! Double the amount lost on a P2P system, filled with MM, and other networking issues is absolutely absurd. There have been great suggestions on how to improve this and make it more inviting to the player base, one of which has been implementing a checkpoint at ranks and sub ranks with the current scoring mechanics but no let’s make it double punishing on a loss.... I don’t know, but this seems less inviting to me and people actually quitting after a loss which makes the playerbase smaller. As a matter of fact, I cannot recall any suggestions to improve this involve double reward/loss. It even amazes me that your response even tries to justify how this will be “more inviting”. I don’t see it, I see it having the total opposite affect.

Its a small step in the right direction. A simple solution would be to have a path to pinnacle weapons available in quick play. As example Luna is quickplay and not forgotten is Comp. That way when players crossover between modes they arent out weaponed as well as out skilled. Its very discouraging to face off against better players with better weapons. That being said...the comp list can be frustrating but its not impenetrable to casual players until your over 1000 glory...then it gets truly soul crushing. If more guardians are in the mode the more chances there are to find players of varying skill levels.
-
3 RepliesYou really need to take on board the replies here because as someone who is considering giving comp a go I am reconsidering as I think it will be a waste of time when I get the inevitable loss streak. The loss points need to be less than the win one to be more forgiving or you will have less players playing it and no new one who will think it a waste of time
-
1 ReplyYou know. I'm sitting in matchmaking for five to ten minutes not looking for a decent fire team but any fire team at all.......... You really need to just go ahead and forget the "lost points" thing entirely because there's not enough people left in the game to bother with all the drama you put on people.... Just let people play the game and forget about all your "best of the best" nonsense because there's just not enough people left who care.
-
Cant gain any thing its to much of an up hill battle with how much you lose for every loss.
-
2 RepliesHave each major rank up become a checkpoint instead. Keep the win and loss values where they were- but have major rank ups as checkpoints.
-
Comp is still bad.
