The second part of this quest, "The Temptation" can be extremely challenging for some of us Guardians who may be apprehensive to Crucible. Instead of impeding the progression of this portion of the quest across all Crucible matches played only impede the progression of the current match.
Example: I melted a couple of Guardians in my current match which moved the quest's progression percentage from 4% to 17%. When I played another round I melted a few more which raised my percentage from 17% to 29%. However I also suffered more kills than those of whom I defeated, dropping my percentage back down to 17%.
In other words a Guardian's current percentage pertaining to this second portion of the quest should have no bearing on any previous percentage obtained, only on the current percentage either being obtained or lost. Because I suffered more losses than Guardians I melted in another round my percentage shouldn't drop below 17%. Instead I should lose all my current percentage for the match being played, dropping me back down to 17%.
With an adjustment like this you honor the quest's right to impede a Guardian's progression upon subsequent losses in Crucible matches while at the same time encouraging a Guardian to continue without abandoning it because well...we're still getting somewhere.
Without such a reasonable adjustment that would make this portion of the quest far less frustrating I can imagine a few of us Guardians giving up. We all want the hand cannon. But we're not going to bang our head against a wall trying to get it. Most of us will probably just stick to our challenges to increase our power because when it's all said and done most of us won't care. We'll all be on to bigger and better things. And so will you.
Bungie, please consider making an adjustment in a future update. It'll help a lot of us Crucible amateurs. Thanks.

Dude i just started playing D2 when S11 came out. I got the gun and The Temptation took me 3 Control matches to complete and i am even noob in the Crucible lol. Put yourself together and if u are bad in PvP this gun is useless in PvE and what Olympics athletes should ask for the rules to be change so they can win gold medal lol..only people who can pass a quest deserve to have the gun and as you can see many have done it maybe is not something u should own

9 RepliesOr... and hear me out here, change up the way you're playing. Don't go in and just play normal. Go in with the intention of staying alive. Don't focus on the kills you need, just focus on camping and running next to teammates so you can teamshoot, because assists are also counted. If you're losing a fight, get the hell out of Dodge, man! The main thing is, go in thinking, "I just need to stay alive as much as possible.", NOT, "I need to get 'X' amount of kills.", and play as reserved and careful as you can, and I'll bet you get it quicker than you'd think.

1 ReplyI wish to know the math behind this quest step. My first match I made KDA 0.94 and raised the percentage to 10, then my second match my KDA was 0.69 and the percentage has gone to 5! So it's pretty clear that with a KDA of over 0.5 is not enough to raise the percentage, on the contrary, you will lose your progress. After that I decided to play really careful and managed to do a KDA of 1.32 and raised my advance to 29%, but who knows what will happen on my new match. For me, it's pretty much clear that this quest doesn't work as the Chaperone's quest and kills do not count as 2%.

3 RepliesIt’s a good step. Actually is one of the greatest guns for PvP, it’s not a gun for noobies

Edited by abyssasylum: 2/3/2019 6:18:50 AMHonestly if you are having trouble passing that part of the quest then you would likely just put it in the vault. Stay close to teammates, watch your map, don’t rush, stay near cover, disengage when you fall behind in a gunfight. Get more kills than deaths and you get it in no time.

1 ReplyEdited by Lord Yoink N Bag: 2/1/2019 9:05:29 PMEasy completion here guys. Use top tree voidwalker (Slova bomb). Skull of Dire Ahamkara Go to mayhem, stay in the back, wait for super to charge, discharge super in direction of red on radar. Rinse, repeat. No need to engage anyone, stay back and let the novas do the work for you

4 RepliesWould be funny seeing you try to get this gun in D1 haha

13 RepliesEdited by ThelProfessorl: 2/1/2019 5:36:06 PMIf you can't get above a 0.5+ KD you 100% don't deserve it. The fact people are complaining about this is mindblowing.

The biggest problem is loss mechanics encourage quitting which makes the matches even harder. When I completed that part of the quest a couple of days ago, people were quitting constantly, it was quite annoying and frustrating.
-
I did it in mayhem. I shot everyone and shot tethers everywhere because assists also give 2% per. Easies quest ever. Took 3 matches for at least 30% per match.
-
Not being a fan of a game-mode is not a very compelling stance for changing a quest for an item that almost exclusively sees use in just that specific game-mode. It's already easy enough because the tracker also counts assists.

Took me 1 hour, I’m average at best
-
Dude I did it in a couple days. Stay in the back use colony and if u r a Titan use top tree sunbreaker ashen wake and fusion grenades. Throw a fusion grenade at a player it explodes and you can one hit melee them

The first Crucible step or whatever is already incredibly merciful. It doesn’t need to be changed at all.

Edited by AssassinOfDestro: 2/2/2019 1:36:31 AMThe only needed adjustments is to yourself
-
Sit back and wait. Dont put yourself in danger. Did it in 4 games of mayhem with GG by sitting and waiting for people to walk in front of my gun. The step shouldn't get changed
-
I like the idea but I do think it would make it a little to easy. I'm an average PvP player and I was able to get in five games or so.
-
If you are on PS4 and still haven't managed to complete the crucible step (I'm skipping a few paragraphs of what you said) I will be happy to help.
-
5 Repliesthe step is simple, it does not require a crucible god to complete. it need not be changed. people need to realize that quests are not free rewards, they must be completed. if you are unable to complete it, you do not deserve the reward. not the quest need be changed, that's not how it works.
-
If you don't play PvP, why do you even want it? TLW is useless in PvE.
-
I hear ya. I went from 29% back down to 6% in the span of a couple of matches. After that, I turned off the game and put on Netflix.
-
Quest doesn't need changing. If you're having this difficult of a time with the step have you stopped to consider you're not doing something right? Look at your weapons and playstyle. Now look at your teammates. And now your enemies. Make a build that will counter the enemy and work with your team. Thats a big part of playing solo, having a loadout that helps make up for the lack of communication (that is if you're playing solo).
-
Good idea. But it won’t happnen :(

10 RepliesAgreed, the horrible matchmaking punishes you so hard when you spawn into a losing match of control only to be spawn killed...
-
Either bring back SBMM or fix the current one.... quest like this encourage people to leave game that are miss matched resulting in the remaining players to suffer, and so their progress suffers. I had a game yesterday where I loaded in with 2 other players at the same time, that means it was a 6 vs 3 match.... how is that even balanced. Needless to say we were all spawn killed... but hay, don't die because it impedes your progress.

13 RepliesHaving completed the quest I can honestly say this has been one of the worst quests I’ve done in the destiny franchise. Apart from the obvious trouble for inexperienced pvpers the final part of the quest is so, so cheap. I’m no lore guy but that last step is just embarrassing to story of destiny. For the first pvp part the obvious solution would be to add checkpoints, get to a certain percentage and you progress is locked in.
