The "Lamest" mechanic in this game

"THE" laziest, most pathetic mechanic in the game from bosses is "The foot stomp". Bungie, couldn't you come up with ANYTHING better, how lazy are you? That's my rant.........

    How about an enemy that charges you AND stomps, especially on a map surrounded by pits (I'm looking at you Brakion)? Or an enemy that requires you to attack him with close range weapons and does nothing but spam the slam (Kathok, you jerk)? Also why do "ground" slams hit you while you're in mid-air, like "10 feet above the boss" mid-air?

        I agree. I do not mind the boss having a move that punishes you for getting close. Hell, I'd like to see a big guy that actually snatches me up and tosses me like an action figure in my house I tripped on in the middle of the night. It's just dumb seeing the same "[b]SSSTTTOOOMMMPPP![/b]" move done by every big enemy ever. For one thing, it's kinda stupid. I can see that if something that large stomped I'd probably stumble or trip or something. And I can accept that if I was that big I'd try to smash things like ants too. But it gets old and kinda silly after awhile. Change it up, you know? Have an ogre do a backhand that is dodge-able. Have a Captain shoot an anti-grav weapon at you. Make a Vex teleport you. Something different than "RRRRAAAWRR I STOMP YEEEWWW!" Edit: And again, the point is [i]not[/i] that we cannot deal with the AoE mechanic or that we need tips to overcome the slam. It's the stupidity of the move being a stomp or fist slam all the time.

              • they gave it to every boss because in the d1 shield brothers strike you could crouch in front of the bosses and they had no mechanism to push you away or even hit you. So instead of fixing the crap design of the boss attacks, or their models, or their damage radius, they just gave every bad guy a stomp. It just smacks of poor design, lack of play testing, and laziness. But that can be said for a whole lot of things in D2, what can ya do though?

                • Why not make a close ranger attack for each enemy race? Vex- Release pulses of Arc energy that do DoT Cabal- Stick with the classic ground slam that knocks you back Fallen- Back hand with all 4 arms that temporarily slows your movement with a “Broken Bones” debuff Hive- Create magic that redirects 75% of the damage dealt back to the player Taken- Release their energy via a damaging pool on the ground.

                          • This! All bosses having stomp/push and putting every boss in a small box with moving cover sucks. Why did they want players to be inside a kill box at every second of a boss fight? I miss the old style strikes. Playing enough to learn where the good cover was, being able to take advantage of said cover to regain some health or stall a few seconds while the death timer counted down on your fallen teammates, ....... imo. it was more fun than a constant cluster-blam!- in each little boss room fight we have now.

                          • I especially hate the stomps or Ground punches that, for whatever reason, turn your guardian into a feather and zip your ass across the map at Mach speed... Looking at you EP knights, you -blam!-ing -blam!-s!

                            • Pro tip: if using the EP shotty just run up to boss, wait for his stomp to trigger and as it triggers, melee so you lunge back and don't get thrown away
