As a Father of two, I️ know that I️ only CATCH my kids lying about 25% of the time (anecdotal) and that they are only getting better at it as time goes on.
Now correct me if I️ am wrong... we as a community have now caught Bungie lying directly to our collective face 3 times.
1 - The weapon balance patch in which auto rifles were “intentionally” buffed by 0.04%
2 - The SBMM disaster.
3 - XP throttling
A shaky 4th would be the lie of omission about the fact that they doubled the required XP to gain a post lvl 20 rank
Bungie keeps proving themselves to be the opposite of a trustworthy company.
Does Bungie need to make money? Of course they do, it is a business BUT the difference between a GOOD company and a BAD company is that the GOOD company makes profits off of high quality products and caring for their product and their consumers.
A BAD company attempts to use shortcuts, exploits, lies and excuses to trick/coerce their consumers to give them more money.
Now... you tell me
Is Bungie behaving like a GOOD company or a BAD one?
EDIT 1:
The XP lie was a combination of omitting pertinent gameplay information and intentionally not representing the lose of XP in the UI.
EDIT 2:
Keep the list growing everyone, I keep seeing more and more lies that I forgot about, a truly disheartening pattern of behavior by one of the most renowned studios in gaming history.
EDIT 3:
I am very glad they have cancelled the stream tomorrow in light of community concerns. I don’t expect it BUT I hope that they do a no BS blog post that addresses our concerns and at least acknowledges the fact that they screwed up.
Here is hoping next week is a better week for this community than the last!

Probably a lot, same shit they pull with chests cool down. Refunded my season pass, suck my dong bungie!

1 ReplyThe XP throttling I can almost understand, but I've been playing online games for the better part of 15 years and come from a player base that's very familiar with it, I played the original guild wars (just aged myself there I think) from its opening day until it lost its full time support, they were constantly adding anti farming code, nerfing drop rates, or adding skills to mobs to counter farming builds ...yes, they did tell us about these changes before hand, but it's all the same reasoning, to artificially extend the grind, to have to put more hours in...in this era of gaming though, you can skip the grind with "loot boxes" , catering to casuals is big business, and Bungie did two things right with this and made the purchasable rewards random, and cosmetic, as opposed to something like Warframe, yes it's free, and I love playing it, but you can definitely buy gameplay advantages (and face it people, that game was hot garbage for a long time before its current state) I honestly enjoy D2, but I'm by no means a fanboy, they need to be more open and honest with the playerbase, and provide a roadmap that incentivises us to grind it out, or more accurately, wait it out. But I'm honestly not sure what you guys were expecting from a publishing company that turned world of Warcraft into a 100+ level hand-holding session.

I'm sure the mood in hq isn't any better... look at the money the top execs make and rest assured those individuals earning the majority of the annual salaries don't care nor do they want to forfeit any of their millions of dollar salaries to boost moral of the employees to create a better product. that is definitely the trend among several large corporations right now.

1 ReplyI smell class action lawsuit for the ones who spent real money on silver to buy those medallions. Thats the unethical part of all this.

Welp bungievision cancelled the livestream. Fanboys are going to riot against those of us who feel that bungievision is not looking out for us due to the XP problem(although there are other problems). The story is on Kotaku regarding CoO cancellation. I would hope that those who don't understand the problem get informed from those of us who know what the issue is and hopefully choose not to defend a company that has little to no investment in you as an individual but just a wallet they can tap into. There should be a balance at which content is worth the dollar amount asked by the developer/publisher and I don't feel that has been met by any stretch. They won't issue an apology nor admit that the intended system was working against us until it was brought to their attention by someone (energizerX) who dug into the details of the XP grinding. OP is very much on point how this relates very much to a lying child, its a damn shame what has happened to such a great past time that I have shared with my son and we now put the controllers down with regards to D2 and all future releases until this company has a change of heart delivers a better product and becomes more transparent since they are establishing themselves as a "game-as-a-service" model.

I’m still trying to figure out why I’m playing D2 against a big white Cabal that was in a D1 commercial that was to the tune of Led Zeppelin. We’ve been hoodwinked along time ago folks.

That's what everyone is saying the XP throttling wasn't lying, it was just a system that was honestly working fine until people started complaining
-
1 ReplyIt’s simple, DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME!!! Bungie/Activision were too “above” you peasants when you complained about this XP SCAM , it’s only when much larger gaming reporters like Kotaku pushed Bungie for a reply that they come out and said “our systems haven’t been working like they should have”. BOLLOCKS!!!!! Bungie/activision caught lying AGAIN! The sooner everyone puts this game down until things are sorted the better! I’m not playing until the shitfest Of Dec 5th then a little look (because I paid for the shit) then it’s back in the fûcking bin with this shite!!

No question......BAD, all the way around, just stinking BAD.
-
True like what about the exotic, drop suspicion. Because so many people are getting duplicates.
-
I always wondered what bs they havent been caught in yet. I wouldnt be surprised if the systems were in place to increase your chances of repeated loot, or reduced chances at specific loot they deem higher value.
-
Dont forget: Xurs rolls are completely random! - Gjallarhorn in inventory a few weeks before the nerf...sure bungo. Tell someone else.. :D
-
People, just stop playing It works fine for the mind

1 ReplyThey already lost my trust since they removed all the playable things D1 used to have.
-
22 RepliesBungie had their shot with microtransactions and they blew it! Capped our xp gains by 95%? How dare you! They put all the most desired loot behind a pay wall and leave the rest of the game with nothing lol! Optimacy armour? (one of best looking for sure) - BRIGHT ENGRAM Exotic ship? - BRIGNT ENGRAM Exotic emotes? BRIGHT ENGRAM Exotic sparrow? - BRIGHT ENGRAM Exotic ghost? (osiris DLC) - BRIGHT ENGRAM 99% of shaders - BRIGHT ENGRAM Weapon ornaments - BRIGHT ENGRAM Why not put all this stuff as rare rewards from strikes?!
-
Technically the didn't lie. They did heavily mislead but nothing was complete fiction.

Every time

Edited by Edgoob: 11/28/2017 5:32:13 PMI seem to recall that after the first two DLC's dropped we were promised something as an incentive to buy the TTK in a TWAB. That item was supposed to be shown in a future TWAB, but somehow never materialized. There also have been numerous things implied, but they never seem to happen. That's why we need to avoid the hype train, as they've become really good at mincing their words. This upcoming DLC is a prime example of that. Those of us who've been around long enough knew there wasn't a new raid in the DLC, because of the vague wording they used and their flat out refusal to answer specific questions on the topic.

3 RepliesWell normally I used to watch bungie’s twitch reveals on the Playstation twitch app but I’m watching it on the pc tonight simply to see the shit storm of comments , I want to see if they tell the truth and come clean or talk more porky pies
-
1 ReplyThe big one for me personally was "Beta for D2 is an old build". I hated the beta and believed Bungie when they said a lot had changed from the beta. Release ended up feeling just like Beta, I didn't notice a difference.
-
XUR ISNT PLANNED, HES TOTALLY RANDOM, WE HAVE NO CONTROL FROM WEEK TO WEEK Yet megaman datamined his entire inventory months in advance :)
-
It’s only a lie if you believe what they say in the first place. Ever seen a McDonalds commercial showing a perfect looking burger, then you actually get the burger and it’s just a lopsided frozen patty. In a society completely based around capitalism and consumption you have to be wary of what a product truly is. Activision and Bungie are businesses. Profit will ALWAYS be the #1 goal. Anything otherwise would be a absolute lie. Is Pepsi a bad company for selling 16 oz bottles for $1.59 and 2 liters for .99 cent? Is it the most refreshing drink as advertised?! As for Bungie throttling XP is just silly, not even worth the breath of complaint.

3 RepliesIdk, 2 tokens and a blue is pretty awesome rewards
