Sign if you never went Flawless, and don't care!!

As someone who initially started the game as a strictly PvE player during launch, I was surprised when I looked at my gaming time and found that Crucible was now my number 1 activity. I'm still shocked that I have so much fun with PvP when all other FPS PvP games never interested me in the least. That said, I could never stand Trials. Partly because Elimination is just a dull game mode to me due to its relatively slow pace, partly because of the negative culture it created (paid carries, elitist attitudes, etc.), but mostly because it forces most players to play the current meta if you wanted to go all the way which is just boring. I revisited a few times over the years, but if anything its only gotten worse since Y1, and for all those reasons I decided long ago that I wasn't going to bother just for some so-so weapons and armor skins. If they add some variety to the game mode and can balance the PvP meta a bit better I'll give it another go in D2, but I'm not sad in the least to see D1 Trials go. EDIT: Thanks for the great feedback everyone. To address the general sentiment of "If you're posting, you care." It's OK. You're allowed to like Trials. Just because some of us don't doesn't diminish your achievements. I was more posting to illustrate that people shouldn't put so much emphasis on it. There is a large part of the community who loves it and that's cool, but a lot of us just don't care even if we really like PvP otherwise. We'll see what becomes of it in D2, and with some changes (Different game type, address DDoS/Cheaters, address the paid carry culture) I might even spend some time with it, but as it stood in D1 it's my opinion that it was kind of a mess and not worth my time.

  • Signed. This game mode made me dislike Destiny at some point. Single reason : Many nerfs due to this Crucible mode. Don't ask me to list the nerfs, you should know them all by now.

    • Me too. If trials had switched modes every now and then, to say... Control, I might have played more. I really like Control. Actually, I probably would've played a lot more if there was optional matchmaking. As a mostly solo player, I don't like having to search for teammates. I just wanna jump on and get to playing. As you can see from my gameplay, anything that required getting a team together, I have very few completions of. On a side note, after reading through all of the previous comments in here, it cracks me up, seeing all of the comments from trials players, that seem to be almost offended that there are people who really don't care. Lol! So many comments in here attacking, and trying to convince those who say they don't care, that they really do care. Don't take it so personally guys. Just because we don't care, doesn't mean that we are trying to somehow negate the prestige that you feel from going flawless. It's just simply not important to us. I think it says a lot more about you personally, that you'd take the time to attack someone who says that they don't care, than it does about the person that you're trying to call out.

        • I never went in year 1, after trying 500 times I finally went. It was the most frustrating and annoying part of the game, and almost made me quit destiny. Why bungie built a digital karate tournament with white belts versing black belts ill never know, the logic was flawed to begin with. I ended up going flawless 24 times in total, twice on the weekend (once on my main account and also took my alt account flawless for the first time) I still have the opinion that everyone should have had to work equally as hard to see the lighthouse, trials should have had skill brackets, why should black belts get an easy run but white belts have to sweat their asses off against a team of black belts with next to zero chance of winning?

        • I don't give two craps about Trials since I got my first and only piece of gear from it one time. They look cool and I'm happy.

        • D1 trials for the average player is equivalent to purposefully making ones individual experience in a video game utterly stressful and otherwise not truly worth a seconds effort. Way to go bungie. Take the fun right out of fun.

        • /s/ Never set foot in Trials of Osiris. Ups to those who made it to the Lighthouse legitimately, but for myself, I give not a single weeping pustule on a rat's malodorous backside.

        • I could never go flawless. I had a friend who just couldn't carry me for the life of him. He offered o account recover but I wanted to earn it. This Sunday I just wanted to see the Lighthouse before it was gone for good. I let him account recover and got to open the chest. If felt spectacular but I was kinda sad I didn't earn it. Hopefully that will change in Destiny 2, but for now I am content. I feel for those who could never go. My hope is that Destiny 2 becomes more about map control than using the spammiest weapons.

        • Ive gone flawless 4 times. Once in Year 1 because it was the thing to do i suppose and i wanted the exotic emblem. Once in year 2 a streamer carried me. I just felt like going back to the lighthouse honestly didnt care about the rewards, Twice in year 3 the same streamer carried me. Again just wanted to go flawless for fun knowing full well i wouldnt have to anywork. (Streamers name is Monti or IMonti, Find him on twitch if you like he does Free carries and said he would continue in D2 so theres that.)

        • Got 6 wins and never any further. Don't have time to get good enough and don't care. I play for the strikes and raids. And a little iron banner is fun too

        • Personally, I cared about trials a great deal due to my friends going flawless everyday and rubbing it in. they get carried and then say "Oh Yea dude we will carry you no problem". One week later they go flawless again without me. SO eventually I got together a team of my friends including myself who are not too flashy and we tried to go flawless. 20 cards later and 5 hours wasted later, we got 8 wins. 8 wins and we lost out mercy. Then we get destroyed by a team of sticky warlocks and we got bagged as we saw our flawless chance leave our grasp. So Idc about trials after that whole fiasco and my friends who have gone flawless can go suck their salt. So SIGNED.

I only played a few games of Trails. HATED it and I didn't care one bit about the Lighthouse. Maybe I would have given it another look if it wasn't Elimination mode.

          • I visited the lighthouse more than a few times, and I don't care. Raids are the best thing about this game.
