As someone who initially started the game as a strictly PvE player during launch, I was surprised when I looked at my gaming time and found that Crucible was now my number 1 activity. I'm still shocked that I have so much fun with PvP when all other FPS PvP games never interested me in the least.
That said, I could never stand Trials. Partly because Elimination is just a dull game mode to me due to its relatively slow pace, partly because of the negative culture it created (paid carries, elitist attitudes, etc.), but mostly because it forces most players to play the current meta if you wanted to go all the way which is just boring.
I revisited a few times over the years, but if anything its only gotten worse since Y1, and for all those reasons I decided long ago that I wasn't going to bother just for some so-so weapons and armor skins. If they add some variety to the game mode and can balance the PvP meta a bit better I'll give it another go in D2, but I'm not sad in the least to see D1 Trials go.
EDIT: Thanks for the great feedback everyone. To address the general sentiment of "If you're posting, you care." It's OK. You're allowed to like Trials. Just because some of us don't doesn't diminish your achievements. I was more posting to illustrate that people shouldn't put so much emphasis on it. There is a large part of the community who loves it and that's cool, but a lot of us just don't care even if we really like PvP otherwise. We'll see what becomes of it in D2, and with some changes (Different game type, address DDoS/Cheaters, address the paid carry culture) I might even spend some time with it, but as it stood in D1 it's my opinion that it was kind of a mess and not worth my time.

Signed!!!! I can admit to never having been "Flawless" and not caring. I am not good enough to have done it on my own and I refuse to be carried through anything. You can call me a scrub if you sweaties like. Just remember I admitted my lack of PvP skills. ;-)

Yep I don't care. I just try to have fun and let the cards fall where they want too

3 RepliesPlayed it once when 2 friends wanted to try it, don't remember how far we got but I did get 2 armour pieces. Without a doubt the least enjoyable gaming experience I've had in 30yrs but I'm mainly solo pve. That being said I wasn't impressed by raids either.

2 RepliesAre you one of those people who spent more time as an orb then a guardian?

Signed.
-
Signed, never really tried tbh.

I played ToO maybe twice around when it first came out. Thorn was still in the "meta" and I stopped playing quickly. Not because of Thorn, just because of how obnoxiously people would play.
-
Agreed.
-
Flawless? I haven't played a single minute of trials. Im proud of it too
-
Signed, trials is cancer anyway
-
I've never played trials.
-
Lol I've never even played Trials of Osiris.
-
Same, never even touched trials
-
9 RepliesNever cared.

I can't play more than 3 matches of elimination without being bored out of my mind. This games boring PvP is what made me not care about going flawless.

Bump. Even though I have gone. It's been much more negative than positive for the game.

2 RepliesSigned. As a statement, I left the Trails page in the Age of Triumph book completely blank, and filled all the rest. I gave up playing when we were doing Anomaly map, and a guy was killing me through 4+ walls on the opposite side of the map with a Rocket Launcher. You can not call Trials Competitive when they can DDOS you.

1 ReplyMade 8-0 once, then ran into a multi flawless team that just destroyed us. Not even close to the same class as us. Same story any other time. Always hit some premier team. I'll give it a try again if it becomes tiered or something, but otherwise it will be the one part of the game I don't care for.

Twitch, paid carries, account recovery and rampant cheating along with kids who get all their self esteem from this game mode and last but not least the scarab emblem ruined trials and turned it into a toxic wasteland
-
5 RepliesHeck I've never even played ToO

Signed with a shout ;)
