As someone who initially started the game as a strictly PvE player during launch, I was surprised when I looked at my gaming time and found that Crucible was now my number 1 activity. I'm still shocked that I have so much fun with PvP when all other FPS PvP games never interested me in the least.
That said, I could never stand Trials. Partly because Elimination is just a dull game mode to me due to its relatively slow pace, partly because of the negative culture it created (paid carries, elitist attitudes, etc.), but mostly because it forces most players to play the current meta if you wanted to go all the way which is just boring.
I revisited a few times over the years, but if anything its only gotten worse since Y1, and for all those reasons I decided long ago that I wasn't going to bother just for some so-so weapons and armor skins. If they add some variety to the game mode and can balance the PvP meta a bit better I'll give it another go in D2, but I'm not sad in the least to see D1 Trials go.
EDIT: Thanks for the great feedback everyone. To address the general sentiment of "If you're posting, you care." It's OK. You're allowed to like Trials. Just because some of us don't doesn't diminish your achievements. I was more posting to illustrate that people shouldn't put so much emphasis on it. There is a large part of the community who loves it and that's cool, but a lot of us just don't care even if we really like PvP otherwise. We'll see what becomes of it in D2, and with some changes (Different game type, address DDoS/Cheaters, address the paid carry culture) I might even spend some time with it, but as it stood in D1 it's my opinion that it was kind of a mess and not worth my time.

Haven't touched trials since early HoW, some of my best time was spent playing trials in the last word/thorn meta with friends. That was the most fun time period in the game for me. Still have the exotic emblem. Haven't even considered it since it went downhill.

8 RepliesI never went Flawless. Why? Because Trials is crap. And full of cheats. And sweats.

Ill do you one better, I never entered a trials match.

1 ReplyI don't have a fire team so I never even got into the trials, I never completed a raid either. When ever I joined a random team they ended up arguing loosing palyers and by the time we got to that horney bastard they all give up and I'm left standing there filling my boots haha. I'm a little disappointed but d2 is coming and can start afresh :)

And I think I'm really good at crucible too. Usually 2.0 or 2.5 kds every game, but never really cared. Just played to have fun. Trails was never fun even when I'm winning. Too sweaty. Lighthouse virgin and proud of it.

I tried trials several times, and failed to go flawless every time. I was never even close, but to be honest I was only really in it for the gear anyway, and the bounties gave me plenty of that which means overall i'm not too fussed.

1 ReplyOnly ever played trials twice both times for a joke

1 ReplyI've never even played trials. I'm solo, old, with no friends that play this game...and I'm proud of my warlocks lowly 1.1 in crucible:)

Never played in year 1. Dabbled a bit year 2 and 3. 8-0 a handful of times. ( all ended in pub stompings and tbags) Never went flawless. Could care less. Still had some fun though. Hopefully d2 is better.

Signed!!!! I can admit to never having been "Flawless" and not caring. I am not good enough to have done it on my own and I refuse to be carried through anything. You can call me a scrub if you sweaties like. Just remember I admitted my lack of PvP skills. ;-)
