I personally enjoyed it, but my friends refer to me as the video game evangelist. I have a knack for finding the good in things instead of focusing on the bad. Anyone else out there enjoy the beta?
Why or why not? I'd love to discuss rationally.
Edit: Thank you everyone for your amazing input and points of view. I'm off to bed. I'll be sure to read through everyone's posts.

Yes, definitely. The only complaints I had were fairly minor and easily fixable.

I loved the story mission. strike was good. Not great. Pvp is... pvp.

7 RepliesYeah I quite enjoyed it, loved the story mission. Didn't play any pvp but I played the strike a few times though I made sure to not play too many times. It'd get boring in the full release whenever I'm to play it again so why play it so much I'm bored already? My only real niggle would be the people I played with often had no plans of ever using any abilities or supers... my first go I actually ended up leaving as we failed the boss encounter twice... both times getting it down to nothing more than a few shots left of health... I know only failing twice is a bit quick to leave but it was at this point that I felt the people I was with would be unable to finish it regardless. By the time I left I had over twice as many kills as either of them, many more precision kills and aside from one of them creating an orb or two, I would have been the only one to do so...

I enjoyed both PvE and PvP in the beta. It was a small sample size, but it left me eager to see what happens in the story. I play Destiny for entertainment, whether playing solo or with friends. Some of the changes from D1 to D2 were improvements that appeal to Destiny veterans, and other changes were made to appeal to newcomers. But I still had a great time playing both game modes. I'm certainly not going to stop playing a game just because the weapon loadouts are slightly different, or PvP is now a lobby of 8 instead of 12, or because it takes a little bit longer to use abilities. People are acting like the changes are so drastic...like our guardians are suddenly Nascar drivers in PvP and the way to win crucible is to race to grandma's house and help her unload the groceries. Or that in PvE, the mission is to attack oak trees by dry humping them. The changes in the game are not that serious.

I liked it just fine. Wasn't blown away but it was cool

I did enjoy it. I'm excited for a lot of the changes, both what was in the beta and what I've seen Destiny 2 inside looks from IGN and other sources. The jumps did feel a little weird. The hunter jump felt kind of mushy. Sorry if that's not clear but I don't know how else to describe it. The titan and warlock jumps I feel like I'll get used to but RIP titan skating. I'm still hyped for Destiny 2, regardless of how everyone else is feeling about it.

I had a good time. Wish I had more time to play it but, the 20 or so crucible matches, the 6 strikes, and 3 story missions were fun and I'm looking forward to the full release.

i feel like i'm in the same boat as you most of my friends are simple minded and didn't find the beta big enough and complained a lot. but deep down i'm very sure they actually enjoyed it a lot.

1 ReplyI did a little but only when I used my super. The supers are a great addition they are what we should have had in destiny 1. As for the weapons yes they are what we needed to but and added addition that you the player get to chose what weapon goes in what slot and the ammo type effects the stats. Other then that still waiting for the separation of the PvP and PvE to allow better balancing an zero bleeding effect on nerfs and buffs when PvP ultimately gets them and it will ultimately effect PvE when that happens.

Had a ton of fun with it!
-
Yep. I did enjoy it! Unexpectedly I might add
-
Loved it, but I noticed that of the 50 or so friends I have that play destiny as there primary game only about 7 really played the beta much. I like the beta so much I am struggling to enjoy destiny 1 PvP, because the beta was so good.

I didn't like it. It reminded me of the transition from Halo Reach to Halo 4. The gunplay even felt like Halo 4 (to me). I was initially skeptical of Destiny, because it was different from the halo series... but thankfully the differences are what kept me playing for thousands of hours... and kept the bad taste of Halo 4 out of my mouth.

I liked it. Some folks complain that it didn't have enough content, but that's not the purpose of a beta. The gunplay felt great, pvp seemed solid enough, I actually enjoyed it more than D1 pvp (although I'm indistinguishable from trash in pvp). PVE seemed promising, the strike felt a little long and arduous, but so do a couple strikes in D1. The public event overhaul also seems like a huge step in the right direction. Overall, I'm optimistic, as I think a majority of the people are. Sure there are things that I'd like to have tweaked, but I understand that the game is what it is and overall the game will update and things will be changed with time.

1 ReplyIf you can't enjoy free content, you might be a dumbass. Just sayin

I enjoyed it. I'm a bit concerned about D2 PvP and how it's all about team shooting now. The weapon system is different and so far I like it. Scout rifles are a bit weak but are still good for picking off enemies at a long range. There are adjustments we will have to make in how we play D2. I expected that.

4 RepliesI didn't enjoy it at all. Don't get me wrong it's visually stunning, great sound effects and music. But one of the reasons I bought Destiny 1 was because I was under the assumption that this would be a 10 year game and would just continue to get DLC's or your work would transfer to the next game. I've played nothing but Destiny for the past 2 years and I haven't played nearly as long as a lot of people, and I feel like I was lied to. I also played D2's beta and I just didn't like it at all. It felt like everything that made Destiny Destiny was removed or throttled. I have no ill will towards anyone who enjoyed it. That's awesome. And I'm not the type of dude who will say D2 will fail or D1 will end D2 or the Division will kill D2 or something crazy like that. It just doesn't seem like this game is for me. I don't know, I'll try the full game, but if the Beta is just a small piece of what we should expect, honestly I'm not expecting much except a game that feels like Halo 6 with no boosted jumps or supers.

For free new stuff to do, I can't image anyone wouldn't have enjoyed it lol. Maybe have some concerns, sure.. but saying it wasn't fun, well that's just being bitter over changes they don't like.
-
The mission was fun, that was about it. The strike was same old and not inspiring, and the PvP wasn't fun to run solo
-
I genuinely enjoyed it a lot. There was nothing that stood out that was a make or break change to game play. I do think there needs to be a slight buff to all ammo drops and super recharge, but nothing crazy for PVE. PVP felt solid and smooth. Zero lag when I played. I can give or take the new heavy ammo drop.
