I personally enjoyed it, but my friends refer to me as the video game evangelist. I have a knack for finding the good in things instead of focusing on the bad. Anyone else out there enjoy the beta?
Why or why not? I'd love to discuss rationally.
Edit: Thank you everyone for your amazing input and points of view. I'm off to bed. I'll be sure to read through everyone's posts.

I did.... my expectations were at -50.
They are now at -47 👍
I thought it was almost perfect. The only real flaw for me was the super cooldown.

Edited by Urban Shade: 7/29/2017 1:41:18 AMNo, not really. The time to kill felt too slow and the fact supers take years to charge up was not really doing it for me. I get they're trying to make the game more competitive, but danm. Shooting multiple supers in a game was kind of a staple for destiny imo.
-
1 ReplyMovement and gun play feels considerably worse, supers are trash and take forever, grenades take forever to charge, new weapon system is trash, ttk is way too slow in PVP, not much I liked about the beta to be honest.

This game is going to take more skill than D1 and will have you changing your play style. Just take a good look at Arcstrider Huntards. Melee, Shadestep, Melee, Shadestep, Wash, Rinse, Repeat until the mob is dead. Do I want to do this? Hell no! Will I? Yup. Why? It's very effective... incredibly effective. More effective than using weapons. Some of you will have no idea what I'm talking about lol. Just look at the sub-classes. They're heavily PvP influenced... as is most of D2. On Topic: No, I did not enjoy the beta. It basically confirmed (for me) that D2, and Destiny as a whole, has moved towards a PvP first PvE second kind of game. Weapon tuning in D1 was the first indicator of this imo. Every weapon tuning update was about the Crucible. The Truth hurts... well it did before they nerfed it lol!!!!!

It was interesting to see new stuff (graphics/art mostly) but ultimately it was very tedious and I had to force myself to create a second and third character to try out all the abilities for due diligence. Feels shitty, it's a downgrade from D1 in many ways. All because people want to have "primary only" PvP but can't make smart decisions for themselves and just go play CoD instead of ruining Destiny.

4 RepliesI bought Destiny because our character had super freaking powers. You were this Billy bad ass flying all over the solar system kicking ass and taking names while blasting enemies both Guardian and Darkness alike with flaming Hand Cannons, Space Magic and mighty Fists of Havoc. Fast forward three years later and in some folks eyes, we shouldn't be able to use them in PvP because they can't be countered or because they are available again after kicking ass. 😴boring. The weapon loadouts were OK. I've really only ever needed one primary at a time so I don't really see the necessity for two in PvE. In PvP it was nice but not something that needed to happen. PvP wasn't really packing that "fun" factor that made me originally enjoy it. I am a Guardian with super powers...why the hell did you neuter us to cater to the whine fest? Wouldn't it have been easier to create a PvP mode where no abilities function? All the crybabies could spend their time in there and it would leave everyone else the ability to actually have fun in PvP while playing a video game...like we've been doing. The GG was complete weak sauce in PvE and I hope there are better options. Keep the 6, give me back my 3 shots. The Titan supers were the best part of the beta. The warlocks still float and wear dresses but have found the lost hammers of the Sunbreakers. After the beta I can't say I am cancelling my preorder but at the same time I didn't see anything that has me ready to "throw money at my screen", or at the kid at Game Stop, in my case. Here's to hoping they sort that mess out and make it enjoyable for EVERYONE, not just the crybabies.

3 RepliesNo. Felt too weak, too slow, not enough space magic. It seems like they removed basically everything that I liked about the game in the first place for the sake of PVP. Full disclosure though, i haven't liked the game since TTK when the game started its slow migration towards a more standard FPS by eliminating or reducing the loot-based incentives we had for repeatedly running content. Y1 was the best era this game ever had.
-
No. Too slow. Game play in general was a huge step in the wrong direction.
-
nah, twas shit
-
I enjoyed it to an extent. If we got more than one shitty map to play it may have kept me occupied longer.
-
Hmmm it was fun for an hour or 2-3 but there was to little content imo
-
2 RepliesYeah the PvP very much impressed me. Make that ttk a little faster and we'll be on to something. Pve looks dead to me though. One run and done this time. Cant see me running strikes and grinding after I'm raid ready. Still not sold though, crucible still wouldn't be anywhere near my favourite PvP so is it really worth getting if that's what I like the most?

Edited by Eqitx: 7/29/2017 9:14:24 AMHey it was fun. 3 hours to try classes plus 10 minutes on the farm, wow
-
I don't know, it crashed every time I tried to play the first mission...
-
Yea it was cool, I enjoyed it as much as I thought I would.
-
I only played as warlock during the beta since I chose for the beginning that class was to be my main. I enjoyed both classes but I will see how the final product ends up to work on my skill. I was comfortable so I look forward to seeing what happens
-
I didn't have much wrong with it

3 RepliesI didnt get a chance to group up with some people for the pve but i played some pvp for a good bit with a buddy. I had fun but cant wait for release so we can get some upgrades and lower the super/grenade timers. Of course I'm assuming there will be modifiers on gear. I was hoping for a better game personally. I had it in my head that this would be just like the old but 10 times better. Sadly it feels exactly the same but restricted since its beta. Don't get me wrong, I loved the taken king and played both pvp and pve and if Destiny 2 is at least as good as ttk then ill get my monies worth.
-
Yes I did. Sure it had it's issues. But that's what we all expected. It's about how to work through them and how the end product is likely to turn out.

2 RepliesI enjoyed the beta to a point, but then kinda got bored of it. I enjoyed control about more than the 4v4 domination. The domination map felt a bit small to me, and was not a fan of the whole teamshooting protocol (which seemed to happen alot more in domination than in control). Overall I really enjoyed what they have done with the pvp in this game. I really couldn't stand pvp in Destiny, and would only play it to attempt to continue a quest line or when my friends only wanted to play it. Now I am kind of look forward to it in the new game. Idk if it was just me but the horizontal movement seemed a bit inconsistent, and you could not change the settings on it like in Destiny. To me it seems as pvp was a bit easier to turn, while in pve it felt like it was dragging. It was not one of my favorite betas so far, and rated just about average to me. The biggest annoyance to me which may have affected my experience, is knowing that this beta will be nothing like the full game. Some people will disagree with me, but i feel a beta of a game should closely resemble the final product (especially being two months out from release).
-
Loved it, spent just over 70 hours playing. Only bad thing is that it's over. September can't come fast enough.

1 ReplyThe guns were absolute shit. Besides the red mamba and the kinetic auto you get on the hunter, the guns were trash. That scout with the RoF increase and full auto perk had me looking for ammo every 3 kills despite hitting headshots. And the kinetic smg on the hunter was REALLY bad. Would it kill ya to get at least some form of counterbalance on that thing.
-
I enjoyed being able to get some "new content" to play (I watched the reveal and vidocs a 100 times). I really like the feel of Sentinel and Arcstrider. After I got a handle on voidwalker I enjoyed it in pve, but recharge rate improvements will make it way more fun.

Edited by A Tigerstorm: 7/29/2017 12:07:42 AMI did. I really enjoyed it. I'm mostly happy that the arc hunter subclass isn't shit in pve like D1
