TRIALS money making hype and BAD matchmaking is UNACCEPTABLE, the FUN of it is GONE.

[EDIT] check out my new post "Did you know you can help block unwanted sollicitors on destinylfg?" Trials used to be fun, but ain't anymore because players have found all kind of ways to make money with this game mode which i believe is one big joke for reaching the lighthouse. - twitch streamers asking money for carries and account recoveries and so called donations that are not mandantory but welcome. - Most streamers are using raffles, which gives followers such a small chance of winning one. They post on destinylfg or bungie reqruitment page that a raffle is going now, but once you enter they just started their first or second match, its nonsense. Followers are just wasting their time for hours in these streams just to make a chance for a lighthouse run. - I admit, I have even done it, but realized its waste of time cause I want to play the game, not wait for it. A RAFFLE = A LOTTERY= to give you the impression you might win something for free = this causes a lot of time people to give something back like a donation! Psychology = when you receive something for free, you are willing to give something back. - so your chances of winning one is little and the fact that a carry plus waiting for the streamer to get more followers into his stream will take more than one hour, you might end up spending several hours in stream without getting a carry. NOW, thats waste of your time and energy, it only benefits the streamer. - if you are lucky to win a raffle, nice. But high chance this won't happen as easy again next time as lots of streamers have rules in place that you won't be able to win another raffle if you already did. DONATIONS are not required, but APPRECIATED - if they are not required, why do streamers add a DONATION button on their stream? - its all psychology to trick you. They mask it with quotes like *to improve my stream* *for my wedding* etc... - cheaters using ddos and lag switches to reach the lighthouse for money - 3/4 of destinylfg.com posts are about asking money for lighthouse runs or account recoveries - even posts on ebay - its almost impossible for players with a lower than 1.0 kd to find a team for trials. - then we have stuff like elo and kd farming, its so broken. - BAD matchmaking - too many RED bars How much longer are you letting this happen Bungie? Please, open up your eyes guys and girls. This is not how playing a game and having fun as it is meant to be. Think more than twice before donating your money for just a lighthouse run, which is not special at all.

First, I'm a terrible trials player, terrible and I admit it. As an adult with a full time job and family I'm lucky to get the time I get and so I'm happy with my sub par crucible kd and disappointed with my ToO stats. I've been lucky to have a group help me to the lighthouse once and that was great. I personally would never pay for a carry and think it's dumb other people would but it's their money. When it comes to streamer donations I can't fault for that. What I don't see anyone speaking to is one of the OP's points regarding the enormous amount of lfg posts asking for money or paid account recoveries DESPITE a warning on their site that's its not allowed or acceptable. Well if its not, why is it still there week after week? Clearly they don't care?? That's what I have a problem with....

    • "*for my wedding*" What exactly is this masking? I think saying "help pay for my wedding and I'll help you get the achievement to say you did trials" seems clear as day. I've not played any trials and I'm sure I would do mediocre -> poorly and if it's anything like the valentines day event last year I would get sick of it after 1 round but if it's that important to someone that they want to pay for it and someone else think's the money is worth their time/skill to help people I don't really see why it matters that much. You can get max light many other ways now, I'm honestly not sure what the actual tangible benefit to doing trials and going to the lighthouse is

    • The funny thing is that you dont realize how Elo farming stops working after a short time, and no, it's not a psychology trick. Streamers have a donation button so that people who want to support them with money can. I don't agree with paying for carries, I think it's scummy, but if there is a demand for a product, people will create that product. That's capitalism, plain and simple. People wanted to go flawless so bad, and some of the better players in the game thought "I could make money doing that". If people are willing to pay for flawless, so be it

        • All Bungie has to do is have it so if you've gone flawless for the week already, you will only be matched against people who've been flawless that week already also. That way, teams who haven't been flawless won't get their hopes crushed by a person/fireteam who/whom has been flawless multiple times that week already. Sure, it's going to be a longer matchmaking process for those people who have been flawless already, but this way everyone can have some fun. Pls no hate. Lol.

How is this even legal? A lot of kids play Destiny. You are inviting them into a Casino to get digital loot. Destiny already has the most Casino like loot system of any game in existence (other than Casino games). Add to that these illegal Lotteries from streamers that have (past tense) ruined Destiny. I understand why this could happen in the USA. The different States would have to prosecute Bungie and Twitch individually in each State. But I don't understand why Europe hasn't done something about this. If Bungie and Twitch were forced to fix this problem in Europe, they would probably bring that fix to the USA in order to avoid legal challenges from individual States. Lotteries are illegal for minors in every industrialized nation in the world. Unregulated lotteries (read: Non-State Lotteries) are illegal in almost all of those nations. Bungie and Twitch's support of these illegal lotteries is disturbing. (Note: I suspect someone will try to argue that Bungie and Twitch are not culpable for the streamers actions. That argument is false. If it can be shown that Bungie and Twitch #1: Knew about these lotteries and did nothing, possible actions include - suspend the streamers account. Or #2: Actively promoted the streamer. Since they are always talking about their lotteries, it's a bad argument to say you didn't know they were doing a lottery when you promoted them.) Edit: Damn, when you mess with streamers, this idiotic generation gets upset. It's like this stupid generations version of rock stars.

            • Its simple let the top tier players play the other top tier players; But wait then they wont have the skills to curb stomp and then, oh no, they will see that they are not as great as they think they are. Well that just wont do, so then they will start to cheat with lag or D-Dos or lag switches, you get the idea, then the real top tier players will come to the surface, the ones who are legit, bc they will make sure Bungie sees that there are cheaters out there once they flood the "report a player section" making sure all the trash gets banned. Win Win. Let the top Tier groups get a better roll or a special shader or something to make it worth their wild and so no one purposely tanks their KD to play less skilled players, I think the majority of the community would be great with that. If your like me who actually enjoy the competition of this game mode and want to stop running into questionable teams or highly skilled teams this would make this game mode, a game mode we all paid for mind you, played more by others who are like me. Lastly if you are a true top tier player this system shouldn't scare you in fact it should make you feel better that you earned the win and not just walked all over a less skilled team which proves nothing. makes that trip to the light house feel that much better. Most of the streamers I team up with hate that win and feel bad they have to play a team that is way lower on the skill tree. So the ones who throw shade to this post, well I don't have to even say it, but you are those questionable players and you don't want to get exposed.

Or they could take that free publicity that they have gained over the years and capitalize on it by offering the gear/ornaments in the eververse store in RNG packages. All the money that went to paid carries and account recoveries now goes to bungie and it's company instead. Keep the emblem as a sign that you actually made it to the lighthouse but open up the loot for everyone else lol. How many people do you think would be willing to pay for the loot? I'm just asking and curious?

            • Can i ask you a question. Let's say you are playing against a team in trials and they are carrying someone, how can you tell if it's a paid carry or not? How can you tell if its a carry or if its a group of friends who enjoy playing together despite a skill gap?

              • The solution seems simple. You should only be able to go to the lighthouse once per character. Once you've made it to the lighthouse you shouldn't be able to play trials again until the trials reset. This would pretty much stop carries all together and give many other teams and players a chance to compete without having to beg for carries.

I was thinking and you know what, if paid carries wasn't a thing, there will be far less gamers who do not deserve to go to the lighthouse. Some of these good players play to win. Some do not have the free time to help but when money is involved they will help the least qualified player go flawless. So I think it's actually helping people. Regular players can find a team and try to reach the lighthouse . Again, it's not for everyone. Trials was designed for the most engaged pvpers.

No one is forcing you to sit in a stream. And donation buttons are but on stream so can donate. No one is forcing you to.

                • There was a post last week that talked about steamers and trials by putting timers on cards so you don't run into the Elo farmers they would have to play the card out Everytime.. If you go flawless it will only put you in with others that have went flawless that week.. Stuff like that..

                  • To think that Bungie does not love seeing all those people watching destiny on twitch (whether actually watching or just having it pulled up and doing something else until a raffle is announced) would be ignorant. Bungie would love to say destiny is the most watched FPS game on twitch or other types of marketing hype that would allow them to tout how popular destiny is.

                    • They should make the 9 wins like Overwatch's arcade. Just get 9 wins but keep the matchmaking based on card wins. Would this water it down?.. absolutely. But technically speaking some players still may not be able to get it. Top players would get it done quick, worse players would have to dedicate the time before reset hit. People doing carries would still have some value for some but this would really bring it down a peg. To be fair though, trials has pretty much carried the replayability of Destiny through content droughts for a lot of people. So watering trials down would probably be the thing that kills the current state of Destiny. Don't expect any changes.

Trials was never fun. It's competitive, It's exhausting, it's a place to really be on point with your team. Now... Fun is when YOU squash a team Doing paid carries. This is the only fun I can think of in this mode.

                    •
DONATIONS are not required, but APPRECIATED - if they are not required, why do streamers add a DONATION button on their stream?
That last bit makes no sense, they're not required but they put it there to ENCOURAGE it? The rest of your argument is also like swiss cheese. What's your problem with raffles and payed carries? I've never been to the lighthouse, but I trust my abilities to get there eventually, and so I keep trying my best to come out on top in the games I play. I don't complain about carries, and you know why? Because it's not my beeswax. Complaints about cheaters have been going down a lot recently, although that's the only part I agree with you on. A Bungie dev. even said "In no way is the average player supposed to go to the lighthouse."
