....If another empire lead by Sith rises less than 50 years after he kills the emperor and dies?
He was the chosen one, an ancient prophecy which foretold that the chosen one would bring balance to the force.
If another empire took over, he didn't really do anything. This has been bothering me with the release of the new movies, as great as Rogue One was.
Even if he temporarily restore balance, it is pretty insignificant for a ancient prophecy.

Well he did bring a balance to THE FORCE.. Cuz for the entire existence there was always only 2 sith, and there was many many Jedi... So him killing off all the Jedi and only leaving 2 alive brought a balance to the for where there was (or is) only 2 sith vs 2 Jedi .. A perfect balance

3 Replies>Implying the Sith are wrong >Implying the Jedi are the good guys >Implying that the Jedi Order had problems with the Sith for using the Force in ways the Jedi didn't agree with >Implying Sheev Palpatine did anything wrong >Implying it wasn't Tarkin's order to destroy Alderaan >Implying that Palpatine didn't only condem the destruction of Alderaan, but was furious with Tarkin for ordering it >Implying that the Death Star wasn't built as a defensive weapon to slow invasion from another Galaxy >Implying that the Empire aren't the good guys >Implying that the Rebellion wasn't short sighted and exceptionally nostalgic for a Republic that was putrid and corrupt to the core >Implying that the Jedi Order didn't look down on everyone with anything but contempt from their Ivory Tower

7 RepliesEdited by Ninja_Lazer: 1/18/2017 5:51:01 PMI just wanna start by distinguishing the political from the Sith/Jedi distinction. Sidious used the empire to eradicate the Jedi, but the empire itself holds no allegiance to the force (be it dark or light). The proficiency stated that Anakin would bring balance to the force. Technically this is what he did. Going into episode 3, there were a large number of Jedi (light side of the force outweighed dark side). Anakin went dark, became Vader and thinned the heard - making the force more balanced. The heart of the prophecy tho came in episode 6 - Luke was the last surviving Jedi (in Canon) and there were very few light side users left - it is currently unconfirmed if Ahsoka Tano is alive. I'm not sure based on age if Kylo and Rei were even born yet. On the other (dark) side of the force, you had Sidious, Maul and Vader, as well as some unconfirmed dark side users that were not aligned with the Sith (Snoke was alive and likely fits into this category). Anakin took out himself and Sidious - this substantially evened the odds, thus bringing balance back to the force. Edit: Brainfart - obviously Kylo hadn't been born yet - not sure about Rei as we don't know who her parents are.

2 RepliesI'm not sure if Snoke and Kylo Ren are sith in the traditional sense.

2 RepliesKinda. He fathered Luke and Leia. Luke turned Vader, who killed the emperor then died. Leaving Light Side - 1, Dark Side - 0. Leia gives birth to Kylo then Snoke and Rey came out of no where. Now it's Light Side - 2, Dark Side - 2, balanced.

1 ReplyBut there was another prophecy stating Disney would make more money

3 RepliesI always find it funny that literally every Jedi who heard that prophecy assumed it meant making the light side even more in power/scope than it already was. How did nobody think, "hey, maybe the force is tipped to the light right now and 'balance' means to bring it back to the dark". This is why I've never wanted to be a part of the Jedi Order. Bunch of morons.

Rey is reincarnated Anakin and will restore balance to the Force clearly.

12 Replies1) Snoke doesn't appear to LEAD the First Order, unlike Palpatine. He appears to be the power player of it, but the actual leadership appears to be Hux and Phasma. 2) The First Order hasn't really taken over. They occupied a few planets in the Outer Rim, and now have taken out the Republic senate, but they're still more or less thugs at this point.

2 RepliesYup! There were only two Sith, so he killed all but two Jedi!

6 RepliesEdited by Gravy Train: 1/16/2017 11:26:06 AMAnakin will bring balance to the force in the form of Rey. Yes, I'm saying Rey is Anakin reincarnated. The first go around he failed and succumbed to the dark side. Through his final acts as Vader he attempted to redeem himself causing his death. Now Rey is another attempt to balance, this time hopefully avoiding the temptations and rage of the dark side. Look at the similarities between Anakin and Rey. Both natural pilots and strong with the force without training. Anakin was a "virgin birth" and we don't know much about Rey's parents. That could explain why Luke abandoned her. Felt the presence and didn't want to taint her with his own struggle with the force. Also, Kylo was waiting for the return of his grandfather and meets Rey instead and can sense her strength.

6 RepliesEdited by Ricochet 049: 1/16/2017 3:27:05 PMMaybe him bringing balance isn't an instantaneous thing. Maybe he simply was the trigger, and now everything else will react to it. Also Kylo Ren isn't a sith. Snoke is an unknown at this point.

I mean, he kinda killed off almost all users of the force sooo no but it was close.

Balance of the force doesn't exist.

Balance is yet to be found, the consequences of skywalker's presence haven't fully played out yet.

No. The prequels aren't real

The prophecy was merely the force trying to rebalance itself. After the Jedi, (as they so often do), grew complacent with peace and tranquility, the sith bided their time to, what they believed, enact the will of the force itself. This was due to events long before the initial six films depicted in popular media.

5 RepliesFirst of all, it was never said how long that balance would last. Second of all, he helped limit the jedi:sith ratio from 1000000:2 to 2:2. To this day, we have 2 dark side users (Snoke and Kylo) and two light side users (Luke and Rey). Everyone thinks that only jedi and no sith means balance, but this cannot be the case. The Father from the Clone Wars Mortis arc himself stated there can be no balance if one side of the force is too prominent. Also, Yoda said that the prophecy may have been misread, but I think he was just trying to downplay Anakin's importance.

They said that they misread the prophecy in the prequels.
