This video was posted today by True Vanguard on his YouTube Channel. It shows EVERYTHING that is wrong in The Crucible with regard to the imbalance between player speed, augmented durability skills...and the killing power of primaries.
In the video, you're seeing the lengths that one of the best players in the game has to go through SIMPLY TO STAND HIS GROUND against a Juggernaut/skating/shotgun Warrior. One who is basically just bum-rushing him from mid-range, (when Vanguard makes his effort to take him out) and making no effort to doge his fire.
This video shows why Bungie will NEVER be able to nerf shotguns enough to fix this problem. Not when a Titan skater can charge at you from the entire length of that back courtyard on Bannerfall...and NONE of the game's primaries can do enough damage to kill him before he reaches shotgun range.
[b] Effectively making a Matador 64 into a mid-range weapon that can dominate what are SUPPOSED to be the game's mid-range weapons. [/b]
The game's primaries are so weak, that the only reliable counter seems to be what are basically TWO special weapons: Pop the shield with a No Land Beyond...and then hose the guy down with a side arm. ....and that's once again, in the hands of one of the game's best snipers.
To those who want to say, "Oh but the game will have a CoD TTK."
This video is showing you that the game ALREADY has a CoD TTK...and that shaving a few feet off of Matadors range....or adding a few frames to its handling won't solve this game's fundamental problems.

Nerf shotguns. Buff Tripmines. Either make them stick to Guardians or do more damage. Why did they even take the sticky ability off anyway? They're a lot harder to land than magnetic grenades etc! And they don't one hit kill anymore....

Solution: Stop playing this game. At least until Destiny 2 come out, maybe then they'll actually care about fixing any problems in their game.

I agree. Nerfing your way to balance will never work. Primaries need a buff or make them more accurate. Bloom is the devil.

I could see bungie nerfing NLB before jug/shotty. I would die inside if they did lol. Jug shotty is borderline op. You HAVE to incorporate a defensive primary + special weapon strategy to combat it. I don't have a problem with shot guns in general & do NOT believe shotguns need a nerf.

while I get your point and true vanguard is so awesome for this community the thing he waited until the very end to talk about is my first option unless I know I can kill otherwise. the option is to turn and jump the way that will be the hardest for the jug to turn and look, if it was not for these forums I wouldn't know that people had trouble with jug shields. Having said that there is literally just a handful of people I have played where I have to "pre get out of the way" because they are so effecient at knowing how far away they are and when the jug will proc. Again this is maybe 5 people out of the 60k crucible kills I've had. I promise if you just turn and jump (better control/icarus is easy mode) jugs don't know what to do. It's nice to know what is best if to kill them if you stand your ground but standing your ground in general gives them the advantage immediately. Remember a still target is always the hardest to hit ;)

2 RepliesA blanket buff to primaries isn't the answer. Each class of weapon needs specific changes to be made. Just shouting buff primaries all the time is not only a lazy attempt to try and fix PvP, it's very simple minded and ignores the complexity that is Destiny PvP. We need deep changes to be made to all weapon types right now. I wish people in this community would think just a bit more.

I run juggernaut to be able to gain ground very fasting straight line without getting -blam!-. I run a fusion or sniper though. I do occasionally use my matador but that's only in maps like sector 618

The player movement is what makes this game both fun and annoying. It's a catch 22. I fell in love with destiny because of its gun play, and have stuck around because of the many options I have at my disposal with player movement, grenade, jumping and shadestepping options. I really don't think big changes are due... Just a couple buffs to a couple primaries and things will be good. Auto rifles need a damage buff... Just a little one, like 2%. Maybe jugg shield should take little nerf to is damage as well. Overall, though, I think the weapons balance is really close and the player movement is what sets this game apart from the others.

Nerf shoulder charge they said. It is annoying and takes no skill they said. Well...y'all happy now? At least you could easily stand your ground and shoot them in the face before they got to you.

No guns need a buff apart from maybe side arms, and a few auto riffles. Perhaps a slight nerf to shotgun readying post sprinting would do the trick, and a foot of the stormcaller melee. If TTK goes up anymore it will be getting close to being cod of titan fall.
