Cozmo. THIS....is why Primaries have to be buffed.

It shows EVERYTHING that is wrong in The Crucible with regard to the imbalance between player speed, augmented durability skills...and the killing power of primaries. In the video, you're seeing the lengths that one of the best players in the game has to go through SIMPLY TO STAND HIS GROUND against a Juggernaut/skating/shotgun Warrior. One who is basically just bum-rushing him from mid-range, (when Vanguard makes his effort to take him out) and making no effort to doge his fire. This video shows why Bungie will NEVER be able to nerf shotguns enough to fix this problem. Not when a Titan skater can charge at you from the entire length of that back courtyard on Bannerfall...and NONE of the game's primaries can do enough damage to kill him before he reaches shotgun range. [b] Effectively making a Matador 64 into a mid-range weapon that can dominate what are SUPPOSED to be the game's mid-range weapons. [/b] The game's primaries are so weak, that the only reliable counter seems to be what are basically TWO special weapons: Pop the shield with a No Land Beyond...and then hose the guy down with a side arm. ....and that's once again, in the hands of one of the game's best snipers. To those who want to say, "Oh but the game will have a CoD TTK." This video is showing you that the game ALREADY has a CoD TTK...and that shaving a few feet off of Matadors range....or adding a few frames to its handling won't solve this game's fundamental problems.   • Shoot a juggernaut from the sides, from above or in the legs. They can't shoot back while using the sprint shield, unlike the example used in your video- most people, when facing another player, don't stand still and just accept fate. They fight. This is a case of a YouTuber facing the same lul in the game we are, getting bored and making a rant for likes and comments to float their channel. But its not a viable argument. Think before you post next time

    • It has alot to do with this games tik rate aswell. It is simply not a fast enough refresh rate for you to counter a shotgun rusher when hes going full bore. 9/10 your either dead b4 you realize what happened, or you knew what was going on but there was nothing you could do about it short of taking out your shotgun and hoping for the best.

      • Latency and connection issues are a bigger problem. I got 128 mbps down, 50 mbps down. Still I can't play a private match with my buddy 100 miles away without latency issues (he has the same connection).

          • the availability of special ammo is what needs to be adjusted. When you can go the entire match with special ammo, players don't even need their primaries. They just abuse the use of specials. I for one get much more satisfaction from getting primary kills, and seldom use specials. But most players are scrubs, and like to play like douches.

            • Buffing primaries fixes nothing! That would make this game more like call of duty when it needs to be more like halo. If someone shoots me with a primary and I'm more skilled than them I should be able to get the kill even if they land the first shot. That's not gonna happen if they buff primaries. Right now special ammo is to plentiful and power weapons are running rampant. Limit the ammo and then primaries become more relevant. I'm not saying don't buff primaries at all, auto rifles need a buff for sure but does clever dragon really need to kill any faster than it already does? Hand cannons are to inconsistent with ghost bullets even when I pace my shots. My thought all along has been that time to kill on primaries needs looked at, they should all take the same amount of time to kill, prime example would be auto rifles. Doctrine of passing and shadow price should take the same amount of time to kill. High rate of fire vs low rate should be a preference

                Or maybe...and this is just a thought...this video shows whats wrong with jugganaut, not primaries. I have nothing against jugganaut and i hope it doesnt get a nerf but it is kinda stupid when everyone was complaining about sunbreakers tanking a sniper headshot/golden gun shot but not as many about jugg when you have it for atleast 5 seconds and theres no recharge on it (and if there is one that im missing...it charges faster than shoulder charge) you dont even need to wait to get your super, as soon as the game starts...BOOM you can have jugg within seconds

                  • Suppressor Grenade, Tether, Shadestep, Blink. All options that quite handily deals with juggernaut warriors. All you need to do is either get around them, or make them chase you long enough for their shields to go bye bye. Then proceed to murder.

                      • There's no way you can balance primaries around Juggernaut/Shotgun, though. You'd end up with TTK on primaries in like the .4 or .5 second range. If you're looking for an argument to buff primaries, this isn't it.

                              • I don't understand how people can't use primaries. I average a 1.6 and 90% of my kills are primary kill. I get that from some ranges jug rushers can be annoying, but that's why we have primaries, our own specials and melee. The jug rusher has nothing at their disposal for a moment except the shield, you have everything at your disposal. Hell I blow the jug shield down with a planted tripmine and a throwing knife, then introduce their face to my finnelas and give them a good finger wag when they lay at my feet.

                                • Why can't it be handled in a different way? Leave primaries where they are in terms of power. Leave specials and heavies there as well. But if you have a special equipped for more than 3-5 seconds, you get a debuff that makes primaries do 20% more damage to you until you switch off of it (not sure how this would work on a sidearm...). Heavies, same thing, but for special weapons (+20%), with primaries doing normal damage. It promotes primaries as your primary gun, gives you a reason not to run your special 25/7, and provides a special use case for specials against heavy carriers. Don't want 20% extra damage on you? Simple, double-switch weapons, and it's gone. I don't know, maybe it's not the best solution, but it solves the issue without nerfing special damage or amping primary TTK, and that means it might be a step in the right direction.

                                  • If they didn't nerf primaries into outer space we would not have this problem. It's self inflicted on bungies part. Take bloom from hand cannons and then at least they will become a more viable option.

                                    Can I just ask this though, (not being sarcastic or a smart-@ss), but seriously, does anybody in this game actually just stand there in one spot while they're being rushed by a juggernaut? I mean, whether it's a juggernaut or hunter, is anyone actually just standing there in one spot while they're being rushed? It's just, I'm willing to bet that, even the worst players are at least strafing, or back-pedaling, when someone straight-up rushes them from the front like this. Also, unless it's a really good player, and they're really good at keeping their shield up until that very last moment, most juggernauts will ready their shotgun too early, dropping their shield, and giving you the ability to just Matador their face. You'll trade a lot in that scenario. But, the video didn't show where you can charge right back at the juggernaut and slide+shotgun them, because it throws off their timing. They have to drop their shield, and aim down to shoot you. Sliding towards them can make that timing harder for them. You'll also trade in this scenario a lot too, but shotgun to shotgun fights usually end in a trade anyway. I hate it when people do this to me, when I'm playing as a juggernaut. I'm not saying juggernauts are easily overcome, but that's the whole point to the ability though. Making it easier for them to get close to people in a straight line. I'm a hunter main, but when I run my titan, I've always used juggernaut, even when shoulder charge was the "big thing", and sometimes it works out, but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes, even when you come from around a corner and surprise them, your enemy has good timing and shotguns you right when your shield to drops on its own, or they run, or jump, strafe, back-pedal, whatever. But most commonly, you're being team-shot by 2 or 3 enemies at the same time. Even jugg shield doesn't stand-up to that very long at all. I'm playing in what is probably the lowest tier of skill in the crucible (just check my stats, you'll see for yourself, I'm in almost the lowest tier), and even being in the lowest skill-tier; I honestly can't say that I've ever come across a situation where it's just one enemy, who just stood there in one spot like, "Oh, I'm just gonna stand here in this one spot and try to take out this guy that's coming at me really fast with a shield." But, then again, I've also never just started rushing someone from as far away, and in a straight line, as the guy in this video did. I usually start from around a corner, and a lot closer to my enemy. But, even at closer ranges, I've had my shield melted by fast RoF autos, especially when DoP was popular. That thing made my shield almost useless sometimes. Also, suppression grenades have stopped me in my tracks. I hate those dang things. Anyway, like I said earlier, I'm not saying that juggernauts are easy to beat, but if they were, what would even be the point to having the shield? To look pretty while it's up? All I'm saying is, I honestly don't think anyone is just standing there in one spot; unless they're in a firefight with someone else, not paying attention to the juggernaut, and the juggernaut is flanking them, or they surprise them from around a corner; hoping they have the perfect timing to get the kill, before the juggernaut shotguns them. Also, Pocket Infinity loves juggernaut shields. It thinks they're a very tasty appetizer, right before the main dish. Omm-nyum-nyum-nyum-nyum! I wish they'd bring it up to year 3 light levels. [spoiler]On a side note, if you're playing as a juggernaut, and you do happen to decide to rush someone, who just stands there and dances, or just points at you... stop and run the other way if it's a striker, or a voidwalker. Those insidious b@st@rds... they've got plans for you.[/spoiler]
