Shotguns are not the problem. The game mechanic forces CQC. Shotguns are the best CQC weapons, so that's what you are seeing. Even at that, it takes play adjustment. I saw a team hang a sniper back to thin the herd a bit around crests. They even left some crests out there as bait and lured people in. Smart use of sniper. Jade Rabbit would be great here too, and wouldn't have the ammo penalty. At any rate, this too will pass. Regular ol' Crucible will see its normal distribution of weapons, and the world will return to normal. Trials? Don't care. That's for the top 5% of players and frankly I don't want to see the game bent around their whims.
