I absolutely love everything about this gun. I've been playing destiny since release (although I did take a long break) and im on the fence with rise of iron. Even though I was pissed about the season pass being half the dlc, I bought taken king any way and was really disappointed that they removed my favourite gun. Im not buying another dlc to be disappointed again so no ice breaker no more destiny for me. Anyone else agree?
Edit: alot of people complaining about pvp vs pve. Here's a fix they make an iron breaker with the iron banner recolour and have that one as the nerfed to hell version. And rerelease the normal coloured one with pre Nerf stats but as a caveat the og coloured one can not be used in pvp and it even auto switches to the iron version if you enter pvp with it equipped.

6 RepliesMake it that it explodes if you fire it too fast... Im sure they can make some lore pertaining to that mechanic...

That gun was just down right fun! Ran into someone on the moon using it. I envy him so much.

This, thorn, necro, vex.......EVERYTHING!
ULTIMATE SIGNED!!!!!!!!
Yes please, Ice Breaker is my favorite Destiny weapon, and definitely deserves the Year 3 Upgrade!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmsigned

Icebreaker was my favourite too....still have it in my vault. Wasn't that great in PvP although undeniably had some advantages with unlimited ammo. But like you it was my go to exotic for anything PvE related. Back in the day I'd happily take an icebreaker over a Gally but that just MO. Love to see it make a comeback....but with one caveat....bring it back to it's original glory before the nerfherders got hold of it.

2 RepliesYeah and they should bring back shot package too, or final round
-
Yeah iceice baby.

i want it to return because it was the first exotic I got to drop (week 2 nightfall) and because it was so incredibly good. Ghorn may have been the thing everyone used for raids, but that was my goto exotic weapon for everything else in PVE. Also, I seriously think we should be able to bring Mythoclast and Necrochasm into year 3. Getting them may be RNG, but we still all had to work hard to get them. And in the case of the latter, it was never even a decent weapon until after it became useless by being left behind.

7 RepliesI want it to come back as it was one of my first exotics but the remaining exotics need some serious work before they come into Rise of Iron. Icebreaker: - reduce the archetype to same as P&T (26/24). This will reduce the incentive of glitch camping like in year one as it will take more shots. - reduce zoom slightly. It currently has an obnoxiously long zoom, reducing it slightly may make it more user friendly. Pocket Infinity: - reduce the recoil: it's impossible to control. It's a no brainier. - buff the mag size. In vanilla it had 4 base and five or six with extended mag. - slight buff to damage. It currently has the lowest impact to charge rate ratios I the game. Either buff the damage or buff the charge rate. Thorn: - not really anything. Bungie did a great job with this weapon. Maybe increase the burn duration but reduce the burn damage. More of a way to suppress health regen. Vex - fix the recoil. You can't hit anything outside of close range consistently. - buff the reserve ammo size. You can't use this in pve without running into ammo issues. Maybe make it work with fusion rifle ammo boosters.

Bump bump bump if there's a year 3 ice breaker...take all my money just take it!!!! I'm throwin my wallet my credit cards at the screen just take it all and give me a year 3 ice breaker!!!
-
If this was any other game, I would say this was a no brainier. However people have been begging for year one raids, weapons, strikes etc to come over to year 2, but bungie will just be dragging this stuff out for years. Weapons like the ice breaker and thorn are good, and people love VOG. But nothing is stronger than nostalgia. I mean bungie made a gjallarhorn year 3 trailer and redesigned a sparrow skin based around a gjallarhorn. They will drag it out and the community will pay through the nose for it.

Icebreaker should have been a charge up sniper. Like, different levels of charge. You could shoot the gun like any normal sniper, spam the trigger, a sniper shot for each pull. If anyone's played Titanfall it would be like the Railgun in that game. Or you can hold it down for a bit, and then a more powerful sniper shot would shoot out. Not the fusion rifle mechanics though. You don't have to charge to shoot, but you can control the charge and it only fires when you let go, not automatically. That system would have been a much better design. I think. At least, from mechanics point of view. I love Icebreaker but it kind of does break the game a bit. And to keep in spirit of it bringing in its own ammo. The other perk it should have is to pick up ammo that you shoot with the gun. So that way you still have to find ammo but you don't have to move to pick it up either.

15 RepliesDONT FORGET ABOUT THORN!
-
I used that waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than gally. By far most useful exotic IMO.
-
6 RepliesIt is coming in Year 3. Pretty sure in Rise of Iron it will comeback. In a trailer it shows it with a new paint job. Soooo
-
I never ever saw it in Year 1......... So whats this 'bring it back'??...........business? Bungie owe TTK a load of Exotics that were promised too (as well as the ones were gonna be easier to follow quests for)
-
2 RepliesBungie recently made a hunter figurine holding an icebreaker in their store (costs like 130 is dollars...) so my best guess is that it will be coming back
-
2 RepliesHonestly, if Bungie is smart, they'll bring everything up to current light levels.
-
Edited by Vengiman: 7/31/2016 12:38:24 AMIt'll come back but prob won't be great. They'll nerf everything about it cuz people will find something to complain about it man. Just like how the gally is gonna be, it's not gonna be its former gloried self
