Titans... yeah. No doubt about it, now...

Warning-- I'm eating a lot of cheese with this whine-- it's meant to be a humorous look while at the same time providing a comparison in frustration. So, I've been primarily a warlock. Saw no need to try a different class. I've ascended the archive of knowledge, the training, achieved almost 335 (just can't get a 335 bond).... and I have *loved* my warlock-- still play each of the sub-classes as appropriate. But my heart lies with the Storm Caller. Or it did. Since one of my drops a few weeks ago was an ACD/0 feedback fence for a titan @ 335 Light, I couldn't get rid of it-- just too precious. I have a friend who uses it, and I've lusted after it's ability for some time, wishing the Warlock had something commensurate. In the end, I decided, I'll just create a new Titan-- I saved my Spark of Light from year one for just such a moment of weakness... and I'm glad I did. Over the weakend I have proven everything I suspected-- Destiny is a Titan-oriented game. Followed by Hunters, and the warlocks were just a throw-in. Cobbled gear, cobbled abilities, cobbled interest by Bungie. I know that sounds harsh, but... With a Titan, there are no tradeoffs. You run faster and jump higher. Much faster, much higher. You have truly devastating, long-lasting attacks that recharge quickly and are combinable with naturally occuring activies- like sprinting. You can easily withstand falls that would kill a warlock. From standstill, with a Titan I can jump straight up at least 10 feet higher than the farthest any warlock can go. That's just wrong. I can throw grenades farther, because the Titan is strong, and whereas Warlocks do everything in flight or throwing as a parabola, Titans are more straight-line. As a warlock, I can't hit anything with a sticky grenade... it's embarassing. But as a Titan, I haven't had one fail to land and stick on a target (sunbreaker class) even once-- it just seems easy. Toss and laugh because it's in their eye and they will die. Over and over again. I get shielding, I get to withstand punishment longer so I can concentrate on my target until they are dead-- and shaders look f'n cool on the armor. Glossy and shiny. Color-coordinated. Even got to wear my year-one exotic titan helmet while working up to 40-- was gorgeus red, smooth and glossy with white fire-like horns... Warlocks have nothing but their bond that suggests any sort of energy projection- and then it's a bit lame-- even the warlock bond from King's Fall doesn't look as cool as the Desolate Bond. Just the recently added Desolate gear. I single-handedly can clear the field-- and by the time I'm done-- I'm all recharged and ready to do it again!! Being a Titan is AWESOME!!!! Yeah, I get it now. No doubt about it, now... This game is for Titans. Not strategy-- just waltz in and unleash your rage, use your tantrum fist, kill everything, and waltz off the field calling everyone else a scrub because they actually have to struggle to get where a Titan got it handed to them. I'm just glad I finally found the easy road and became a Titan. No more struggling. No more strategy required. No more cowering behind a rock waiting for a recharge. Can't wait for the new DLC!!! I'll get a fiery axe, while the warlocks probably get a stick to hold marshmallows over my axe with. It'll be a cookout. I can tell stories of how I Slew Mighty-So-And-So with nothing other than my Titan-mark, while they look on longingly... But I refuse to call other people scrubs just because they chose a harder path.

I think it's more a case of each appealing to a certain play style rather than it being "better or worse" than another. I like Titans because I enjoy ramming enemies, and as you can see, my KD is sh1t, I don't play much pvp (can't care enough about it), only IB (when it's control or clash). Two weeks ago I created an account for my wife and she plays as a hunter and then I decided to try it out in pvp (IB) yesterday. Damn it wrecked, the character was only light level 290 and I had a KD over 1.4.....and I suck in pvp, I generally go as far as 1.0 (ish) with my Titan. But still, Hunter is not the way I like playing; so yeah, I'll keep receiving shotguns to the face and golden bullets that explode my bowels, while I try to land a shot with my Scout/AR or my Sidearm (yes, that's the loadout I use in pvp...because I like it). People take things too seriously (specially in pvp), just chill and enjoy the game the way you prefer. If you like warlocks...just do your thing and let others enjoy their way. If you play pvp better as a titan (and give a sh1t about it)....play as one, what's the problem? Hope I didn't sound an ass or anything. This is just my opinion anyway. Cheers. Edit: Grammar

  • Only the Striker's Melee does more damage than other melees, Storm Fist deals 181 damage. Titan's 'Lift' ability may jump higher than any other, but it also has the least air-time, with Warlocks having the most. Titans also don't have any kind of ability to Blink, unlike Warlocks and Hunters. Titans only really have one good Grenade per subclass, and Lightning Grenades are fairly trivial to use. Titans, especially Strikers, are considered to be some of the most strategic characters to play. They have no neutral game whatsoever, and rely on mostly close quarters combat - because of this they are easily outplayed by Hunters and Warlocks that know what they're doing with their abilities. Fist of Havoc, like Nova Bomb and like Shadow Shot can be used in a "panic" situation, yes, but unlike Nova Bomb or Shadow Shot, Titans get no benefit from using it to kill one person. In fact, most of the time I use Fist of Havoc or see another Titan use it, it's to either shut down an enemy Super, or to kill 2+ people, or to kill a Sunsinger in Trials with Aftermath equipped, and lay down the Aftermath underneath their orb to prevent self-res.

    • It seems that way because they have nerfed Warlocks and Hunters so much while they kept buffing Titans that the other two classes seem like trash compared to them. I've played Hunter and Warlock since year one dabbled here and there with Titan during the time. Since I've started playing the Hunters abilities on all 3 classes have became more dumbed down and kind of shittier than they once were. Warlocks have became MUCH more comparable to shit than they used to be. While Titans have always seemed to get better and better. The reason for all of this is more people tend to choose Warlock and Hunter when they first start off which ends up with more of those classes being around than Titan. Lets be honest when you look at the 3 choices Hunter seems the most appealing I mean I read about the Arc Blade and thought that was going to be a bad ass super and it was! Titans aren't really appealing when you get the first glimpse when you start but they are supposed to be the easiest class to use while Warlocks are second easiest and Hunters are supposed to be the hardest class to use. And I agree Hunters are the Hardest to use (especially since they have received multiple nerfs) but if you get a good player that has mastered the Hunter that player is going to do really good. If that player switches to another class such as Titan he is going to feel like a God because Titans were meant for the more casual players Bungie babies them and I find it stupid that Bungie has to nerf the literal shit out of classes that were once good because the Titan babies aren't doing as good as the more appealing classes do in just about everything

        • All I have to say is go to Guardians gg.com Compare stats of titans to other subclasses and find out for yourself how they fare. Titans are no shortcuts, before december balance they had .7 kd, now they ride 1.05 to 1.02 kd stats. You will see Warlock with similar stats but some kd's are higher but also lower, and Hunters have much higher stats. Also go to Youtube and look a high level play most don't play Titan and consider it a challange class. Just because the cards fell right for you and you seem to excel at Titan, which I'd like to see some proof of, doesn't mean it's overpowerd. I played my brother's warlock and did better but I don't call them OP now do I?

        • This is not true at all. When I played hunter I had a similar experience as this. My first crucible game netted me about 45 kills and a 15.0 k/d. Do the math. I only died 3 times. I still think the hunter is the superior PvP class but I will always have my Titan for PvE. It's a PvE God but there is nothing wrong with that because it's PvE and not hurting anyone. Warlocks were not just thrown into the game as you say. In fact there are more warlock and hunter players than there are Titan players. You just need to learn your class. Who knows maybe the Titan play style just worked better for you then the warlock because warlocks are by no means underpowered

            • That's just your experience. Titans fit my play style because I like to run in and just go for it solo. I couldn't do that as a hunter really unless I had a shotgun and shadestep. I have more fun with the striker. But my kd is actually about the same. Titans are not op. They are very well balanced. Bungie I feel just did a bad job at true Balance with the other classes. Stop asking for nerfs thought please. Buff the other classes. But keep titans the same.

              • Also I really don't think you should be calling the Titan OP as you haven't played a single Crucible game with yours. (Or if you have you got 0 kills because your grimoire says you have 0 crucible kills as a Titan.) Plus you've never even had a hunter so might want to experience everything before you run on to the forums crying about a class.

                  • Ok, so u played some very easy story missions and a daily or two to make this assumption. No prison of elders, no raids, no crucible, no night fall and as the others have said thats your 12 hours as a titan. I main a titan from day 1 but play all 3 classes and have maxed all 3 from day one and used them every single week. They all jave their different play styles. Maybe u, like me enjoy the play style. Ill admit that i too run in and punch in pve activities but i change my style for each character. The only difference damage wise is my hinter cant take the constant damage as the other two can and my warlock has far superior range in every ability. My hunter play style is a little stand backish and i use speed and damage from afar to help my team. Go make a hunter, play every activity i mentioned above every week for 1 month using the same weapons and youll see they are balanced.

                        • Hunters are still superior to titans and warlocks. I personally think everything is fine right now. I am getting tired of the Striker bandwagon though.

                          • Wouldn't say being a titan is easy, but more you a natural talent to be one. Whatever that translates to mean for you. I know for many people being a titan is tough. And for me I started as a titan on launch and for a while it was a bit of a struggle, but at least the movement felt smooth enough for me to stick with it. Than, after so long, here I am as a titan main throwing down bubbles in strikes and canceling supers with Fist of Havoc (occasionally a cheeky peregrine strike). I'm in a nice comfy place with being a titan. Even if things change for whatever reason I am fine with it. Basically, everyone has their own experience with any class and I just hope that everyone can get into a nice comfy spot with their favorites and not worry so much about what is going to change with it when it does.
