No point. Bungie won't do any thing. Thwart might get a restriction for a week or so.
Bungie said don't do it. That should be enough to that if people do it 3 month ban and all raid gear removed.
Make a real punishment and people will be to scared to do it.

That's an absurdly punitive punishment. They would be shooting themselves in the foot.

No they would not. You wAnt people to not break the rules you punish them. Treating them like. Kid sloping there hand and saying no is not enough. Make people who cheat GO BACKWARDS. You cheat you lose light, gear, or something. More over make it where they have to make up for cheating. All cheaters in PVP get put in a cheater lobby till they learn the error I there ways. As long as there is no negative repercussion for cheating and exploiting people will do it.

Edited by SithLord Osirus: 5/21/2016 1:44:00 PMThey want people to keep playing. That's the number their stock holders care about. A punishment that severe would likely just drive them away. 3 months is too long. This is the same reason ISPs almost never ban people for piracy. They just lose a customer if they do that. Bungie realizes this. It's why they aren't punishing these people at all.

Do you realize people are leaving because of these exploits. Soon it will only be the exploiters playing this game.

ISPs are cutting service to them all the time. My ISP has a 3 strikes rule. Get busted 3 times within a year service is cut. Government is even pushing for this to become law. If your told "don't touch this, but if you do nothing will happen" 90% of people will touch it. You break the rules you need to be punished. Just saying "you get busted cheating this is what WILL HAPPEN to you. No if, ands, or butts." Would stop 75%-90% of cheating almost over night. Cheating drops players enjoy the game more. When people enjoy it more people come to enjoy it as well. Microsoft does this on a normal basis. You get cought modding your console cheating or even repeat offenses of vulgar messages in a short time will get your profile baned. In other words account wiped you get to start over. Sony does also. I bet your one of the ones who enjoy useing the exploit and cheating and just don't want a punishment so you have a free pass to mess up the game for every one. 90% of cheaters are this way. No punishment = fun to watch people rage when they die by a cheater. They think is funney. Punish them they no longer think it's fun and stop doing it.

I've never used any of the exploits, because I think it kills the fun. There is no challenge if you have infinite rockets. Same reason I lobby against mayhem becoming an IB mode. It's absurd. You, however, don't understand the nuance of these issues. Most ISPs have a 3 strike rule on books, but almost always grant exceptions when asked. I have friends that have been caught a dozen times, but never get banned. They just call the ISP and deny it. Congress making it a law is completely different, because they have completely different motivations, and don't care if the ISP losses business. Microsoft and Sony can ban people all they want, and not worry about losing business, because people have already invested in the console, and usually a lot of software. They're almost assured you will come back. Bungie runs a much higher risk of losing someone permanently, because if you can then for 3 months, they lose interest and move on. You're making apples and oranges comparisons.
-
No you made the comparison first. But, I'll bite. COD does ban people for weeks first time, months the Secound. Over watch has stated "you cheat your banned first time". Diablo 3, account ban first time cought. Battlefield the same. Gta puts you in a cheaters lobby just for being a dick in game. And they are all praised for it. People like it and more people play DUE TO CHEATERS GETTING REMOVED. People want a fair game. BS matches and cheaters ARE WHAT DRIVE PLAYERS AWAY not the punishment. I knew some people who have been baned and I tell them "you knew it was wrong, still did it so you disserve what you got". Know what they say "it's just a stupid cheat. Not like I hurt any one" and say "you was messing up the experience OF EVERY ONE IN THE GAME you earned it" If someone don't want to play the game because they can't cheat, well guess what? NO ONE WANTS THEM TO PLAY ANYWAYS. 90% of the people doing the exploit right now are doing it BECAUSE BUNGIE SAID NOTHING WILL BE DONE ABOUT IT. If bungie would say "you do the exploit you get baned" then 99% will stop doing it. Why? THEY DONT WANT TO LOSE ALL THERE HARD WORK. Those that keep doing it are the ones WHO CHEAT JUST TO PISS PEOPLE OFF, and don't need to be in the game.

I just explained the differences and nuances I was talking about. Now you're just being deliberately obtuse.

I'm not being any thing. To day alone I've talk to people doing the exploit in PVP. You know what they all have said. "Bungie said there not going to punish me so why not do it. Its funney." Even naming and shameing has shown to be a effective deterrent. You slap a "I cheated" player card on a cheater even for a short time will stop most cheaters. Why most don't want to be exposed as the fraud they are. My point is valid. No punishment = more cheaters. But, then we are left with people like you. Let people do what ever they want. To hell with the rules. You payed $100 to play and not get to play due to cheaters is your problem not mine (the cheater). I like the game. Have put a lot of time in it but I'm about to join the 30 other people on my friend list and leave due to not being able to have a FAIR AND COMPETITIVE experience due to cheaters. So let's all be like you. No punishment let every one leave let the game die and tap our feet waiting for the cheaters to -blam!- up the next game. Knowing where you stand now I'm done with you. Enjoy your cheating I will be reporting any cheaters to both bungie and console makers. Rules are in place for good reason. You and bungie not enforcing them is a problem that needs to be addressed. With out it the game will never make it to 10 years.
