I'm solely a PVP player and will for the most part avoid PVE at all costs. Up until a few days ago I hadn't done a single nightfall or a single raid in year 2, but with the April update I found my light level lacking in trials and iron banner being stuck at 312 so I thought I'd give the raid a shot, it couldn't be that hard I'd done over 100 raids in year one and achieved flawless raider in VOG way before dark below dropped.
But my experience in LFG and the forums was astounding, multiple times kicked from parties because I don't have touch of malice, exotic swords, black spindle or the sleeper or just due to low light level/lack of experience. I finally managed to jump in an experienced team for a hard challenge mode run by offering a trials flawless carry in return and even though they knew how the raid worked and I didn't I still got almost double anyone else's kills.
What truly amazed me was how happy they were at oryx that I was able to kill the Knights consistently so quickly while often someone would have trouble and call for help... Really how hard is it to headshot a knight once that spawns in the exact same place every damn time?
My point is anyone who's done the raid a couple of times SHOULD be smashing it out like a pro every time after, that's not skill it just means you're not an idiot and can remember a simple strategy. Obviously there's exceptions when you start soloing or going for flawless raider but simply beating the same raid the same way 3 times every week isn't impressive and it certainly must get boring. I also feel any decent PVP player could quickly transition into a great PVE player with little effort, and I doubt the same would be true in reverse.

You're not good because you can go flawless either
-
The average person that cannot even obtain those weapons doesn't really do well in the raid in my experience. HOWEVER As you said, this does not have to mean you actually suck. You're being judged because of the other 100 that did suck and came unprepared.

I applaud you man. Been saying the same thing since day one. These kids somehow equate raid completions to actual skill. They literally brag about it lol its like bragging that you've listened to the same song on repeat for a month. These kids are usually terrible at video games in general and are absolutely ecstatic that a game like Destiny is out. The game gives all these bad kids an illusion of skill because it's so easy and the aim assistance is so damn generous.

Unfortunately there is alot of people on lfg who act like they are awesome but in reality play like their tv is facing the wrong way round

Edited by More Cowbell: 5/13/2016 5:00:14 PMThe raid would be even easier if not for all the crybaby pvp players. They have caused almost every offensive capability to be nerfed in some form. You died 42 times in one King's Fall run. If pve is so easy, what's your excuse?
-
Yeah, I can't stand those -blam!-ing idiots that require certain light levels or weapons for raids. My Titan has a 330 Suros and I can take down the Ogre's just fine. And light levels don't mean shit

4 RepliesTotally agree. I do raids when I need to. I miss the VoG where you could carry a raid team through certain parts. Teammate dies at confluxes... keep going Teammate dies at oracles... keep going Teammate dies at Atheon... keep going You get the picture. Look at kings fall. Teammate dies while running the relic... wipe Teammate dies while running at Oryx... wipe Teammate dies at any point in the raid... do you guys just want to wipe? Might as well... someone already -blam!-ed up.

16 RepliesDestiny is not a " pro " style game. These raids are for casuals. It's fun some times after a hard day of work to hop on destiny, do a raid with a few beers and some cool people. The raid is far from hard my man and the only hard part of the raid is when people are going in for the first time, and trying to get worlds first.
-
I agree with you about people not being able to remember a stupid strategy for the raid and everyone wiping because of them. The raid needs to be updated with the new light levels. At this time, me and my fire team take about 35-40 mins per full raid. Now I just do the challenges and when it's oryx challenge and people don't know what to do after the second run I get kinda ticked off, especially if it's a high light level. Also, I do walk throughs with players that need help with the raids, all of them.
-
2 RepliesI'm good because I can raid well. I can do any position like a champ. I rarely die unless we wipe. I'm the one volunteering to call do call outs at warpriest and running the gaze at golgoroth. Usually have someone who likes running relic but I can do it if needed.

Its never my skill that held a raid back, its how well the team works together.
My point is anyone who's done the raid a couple of times SHOULD be smashing it out like a pro every time after, that's not skill it just means you're not an idiot and can remember a simple strategy
The things is the mechanics aren't simple in King's Fall. They're simple if you know what you're doing and can pull it off with confidence. I've come across numerous players who just can't grasp the numerous mechanics or sequences of events that take place.
I finally managed to jump in an experienced team
The word experienced is everything here. If you have run with 5 other players who had not run the hard raid before your experience would have been completely different. Try that and then compare the experiences.
I also feel any decent PVP player could quickly transition into a great PVE player with little effort, and I doubt the same would be true in reverse.
King's Fall and other raids were rarely about skill and more about coordination. In Vault of Glass and Crota's End you could have a 'superstar' that could carry the team to completion. In King's Fall it's very difficult to do that because more encounters require ALL players to be on point. PVP is Destiny is fun but after going flawless twice in year 1 I have no desire to really get serious simply because the upper tier of PVP results in 90% of players running exactly the same loadouts and 'skill' being determined by who can hard/quickscope first. There is no need for PVP players to validate themselves vs PVE players and the reverse applies. Play what you want to play and enjoy it. This is about having fun. If you want to recognized for true skill, become a surgeon or teach in the third world.

Love how satire and bait are not only in the tags but blatantly said in the post as well. Just highlights how people in this community see a title and then see red.
-
For someone that's solely a pvp player as you say, why do you have over 150 raid completions? Sure you've only done KF once, but you know we can see what you've done, why lie?
-
4 RepliesI just want to drink beer and shoot stuff.
-
2 Repliesyou are not good just because you have a positive KDR , it usually means you just camp alot and use cheap tactics and cheap loadouts to dominate people who use random loadouts and play for fun
-
Ahh, people and their inability to read post tags. Nice job, OP. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

1 ReplyI don't think it's elitism that's going on. I think most people are not patient, unwilling to teach someone new, or are on a time crunch. This raid is all about execution. Killing the most enemies means very little. That being said, I'm glad you found a patient and experience group to help you learn the mechanics. The raid is super fun, but can be easily ruined by impatient children. Everyone who enjoys Destiny should try it at least once though. I hope in the future you loose your PVP vs PVE view, and realize we are all guardians with different likes, dislikes, strengths, and weaknesses. I realize that this was an attempt to ruffle feathers, because you're bored, but it seems like a sad form of entertainment. Anyways, I'll see you out there guardian. Whether it be in a sweaty PVP match, or out enjoying the beautiful universe that is PVE.

I just want to know...did you get good loot?
-
Tldr but I know I'm good because the cocaine keeps my reaction time in the milliseconds.
-
Holy crow, 42 deaths and over 600 kills in a single Kings fall raid. You had a garbage team. On a good run the team leaders should have right around 200 kills and 1 death (skipping Golgoroth's maze). I have had several experiences where we added guys from lfg that came in with all iron banner and trials gear and then we get to totems and they repeatedly body shot the boomers.
-
3 RepliesWho kicks someone from KF for not having a sword? I've never seen anyone use a sword.
-
3 RepliesI think you're completely right but doing the raid every week my experience proofs otherwise. A few minutes ago I went up to the daughters with lfg people and one guy slammed the wrong shield 3 times. So probably it is hard for some
-
You're not good just because you can go flawless
-
I mean if you get a random team, it takes skill not to just leave when the group can't survive for more than a minute...
-
1 ReplyAre you talking about the raid on your warlock? If yes then the stats you and your fireteam had don't prove your point at all in fact the opposite. I guess the post is somewhat bait but still c'mon man. I was part of a team that beat king's fall heroic the first weekend it dropped which was way more challenging than any pvp experience i've had by far. At this point in the game mostly everybody is over level or just about with the difficulty and knows pretty much every mechanic of the raid. That being said i've been in raids with 335 light who are clueless and 309 who could hold their own. Yeah you're right it isn't difficult to snipe a red bar knight but imo what makes a skilled and reliable raider is being able to do most if not all roles throughout and being able to adapt and multi task when someone dies. You died 42x in that raid on your warlock how could you say a decent pvp player could easily transition into a beast raider or pve player lol? Especially with an lfg group it is not easy to get different personalities and people who have used different strats to come together. If a player is mainly pvp or pve and wants to become more balanced or do activities out of their comfort zone it will not be an easy transition either way that's why this game is fun it's challenging to conquer all of it.
