Below is the original post. But we finally have the update, so, what do you guys think about it?
Personally, I'd say it was interesting. The doubles idea sounds cool and the graphic they put up for the Tower looks nice (never mind that I just got out of a long term relationship and I'm kind of butthurt about the whole Valentine's Day event thing). It looks like fun. I didn't expect Iron Banner to be back so soon and I'm looking forward to new gear from both the events. Rift though? Haven't played much, so we'll see. They confirmed that the larger update to the game will be after February. Considering that February will bring us Iron Banner and this new event and that it was mentioned that there was still yet more for us (the community) to learn about what more will happen in February, I think I'm definitely looking forward to February.
As for the Crucible and everything else, what are your thoughts?

We really don't know because there's no type of effort to communicate with us about this stuff...
What we do know for sure is that there will be words.

I realize that February is when the actual update to the game will supposedly come. My "gripe" if you want to call it that, is not that I'm expecting them to drop huge knowledge bombs on us today, or even hoping they will. My gripe is that they won't. With a dwindling player base and a supposed huge update coming up, I would hope Bungie would want to keep us in the know so we have things to look forward to.
Just to be clear, I know today is not the update. But it would've been nice to be able to expect some clear vision/direction for Destiny today.

23 RepliesDay 1 player - I'm sure this is going to get me yelled at by at least a few people, but I'm angry enough that I don't care. But I hope you will hear me out before attacking. There is a general feeling (for me for the first time) of people in the destiny community feeling sort of blah about the game. I enjoyed racing as much as anyone, but it's been so long since Destiny infused any sort of new, lasting content into the game. The lag in PVP is increasingly worse and My friends are quitting or playing less. You know the story... It's been a month without any substantive updates or real valuable communication and many members of the community are starved for information. There is a big committed player base that is just desperate to get excited again about this game - and I can't help feeling frustrated and angry (potentially prematurely) about the forthcoming update, particularly given the tweet telling us not to expect a big reveal but rather information about a future reveal. For the first time, I genuinely wonder whether this is the beginning of the end/how much they really care about what we think. Will the game be able to survive losing more players between now and whenever the decide to actually give us more information? If you string people along long enough, many of them will eventually break their destiny habit and go back to their lives and other games - and once they do, it is both harder and less likely that they will come back - and come back with the same enthusiasm they once had for the game. It's hard to make DLC, it takes time, we all want it to be good - I get it. But I'm tired of the cycle - maybe because this time they have waited a bit too long to get the hype part of the cycle back up and running.

This week's update -dumb pvp event -horrible solo pvp event -old rewards -pvp matchmaking -dumb videos -think cute puppy will bail them out. Does bungie get that this is a loot based pve shooter?

Doubles Crucible event... What a joke IB rift??? Is anyone actually gonna use the spark.. uh no. Matchmaking in Crucible is touched on but nothing about Nightfall or anything about issues with the raids. I am beyond disappointed and will probably skip all next week.

2 RepliesPeople overhyping a few paragraphs, and it's going to lead to needless rage. Tomorrow the forums will be filled with "wtf bungoo" and "i quit density" posts because people are getting themselves hyped over nothing. They took a vacation, will come back with happiness, apologies for bugs n such, and vague hints they have something in store (a new event likely for Valentines, or return of SRL). I can almost smell the salt building up for tomorrow.

Meh, pretty much always play in a fireteam of atleast three, so this valentines bullcrap is pretty useless to me. Hopefully it will be like the festival stuff and only grant useless crap. Damn you bungie for trying to split up the three musketeers!

6 RepliesWell, after reading that update I have now finally decided to uninstall Destiny. Stopped playing it 3 months ago with the exception of jumping on briefly to try the sparrow racing for a few minutes but held off from removing it in case they released some proper permanent content but it looks like the remainder of the year will be these temp events that will no doubt also be micro transaction laden throughout. Damn shame... I used to love playing this game too.

3 Repliesit doesn't matter what they post. you crybabies will still bitch about it. why do people demand and update? if they don't have anything concrete to talk about, they won't. just be patient and wait. it will happen when it happens. dwindling player base? where? i see low levels everywhere i go. that shows new people or at least alts being leveled up. quite the opposite of all the people that claim this game is dying. just because your 2 friends don't play anymore means nothing.

I realize this timeline will not satisfy anyone clamoring for content, but these are worst case scenarios extrapolated from what's been promised thusfar. Personally I believe Bungie's tiptoeing around the Division launch, in which case they want to remind ppl that Destiny still exists (Feb mask event) and give them a reason to come back (Vex Void) after the Division hype has cooled.
