What's so good about fatebringer?
I'm a year two player so I am not judging the fatebringer because I have no authority to do so. But I would love to know why it is so special. Cuz I see it as a regular legendary hand cannon. What did it feel like to make it so popular

High impact, explosive rounds, firefly, decent mag size, great fire rate, arc damage, good stability, great range the fatebringer was perfect in every way. It wasn't over powered, but it always preformed flawlessly. It was bungies first, and maybe only, perfect creation.

I agree with everything they said below, but will add this. In year one, the arc/solar/void aspect was stronger than it is now. On nightfalls, one class of normally non-shielded enemies would get a shield, and ONLY a primary weapon with the correct burn type could break the shield unaided. Hive nights and vex harpies got arc shields. So you could run a primary/special combo to break shields instead of special/heavy. Then you could equip gjallerhorn regardless of the burn. In year two bungie stepped down the light-type burn modifier and reduced enemy shields to remove the primary-burn aspect. You don't know frustration until you survive a flock of fallen captains only to be gunned down by a lone shank that spawned behind you.

Go play through all the year one stuff with a fully upgraded fatebringer. You will understand. And if you don't have it let me know. Our group is actually planning on running old raids this week for fun (may try a flawless)

It was the best gun in the game before 2.0 period! It was like the vendor Hung Jury with 3x as much impact and explosions for days. One firefly explosion with 30 of the highest leveled thralls in one place left you with no thralls, think about that. If you had Fatebringer, Black Hammer, Gjally equipped in yr1 everything melted, it was amazing.

Edited by sonicBOOM5431: 1/15/2016 2:44:29 AMReasons it was amazing and probably the best legendary primary: Primary with Arc damage Hand cannons were AMAZING in y1 Best arch type of hand cannon (RoF, impact, range, etc) Firefly burned through EVERYTHING with insane crowd control Outlaw made the incredibly slow reload lighting fast Had a high mag capacity Had high reserves ammo Looked pretty cool Was useful for ANY activity Now for the reasons you think it isn't that good Y1 hand cannons are no longer viable (self explanatory) All hand cannons are garbage in y2 (2.0 hand cannon nerf) Firefly no longer does as much damage as it once did and has lower radius You just missed it in its prime which is why It doesn't seem that good to you

The primary with burns were the coveted pve trophies. On that pedestal of must have weapons. stood three. The trifecta, the holy Trinity. Fatebringer Blackhammer Gjallarhorn Fate bringer was smooth, and powerful, single shot weapon that wrecked trash mobs with its firefly and reloaded lightning fast. Arc shields? Please! Black hammer, the name it self sent fear down the spine of every boss known in destiny. This monster ate hit points like a swarm of locust. A team full of this weapon made strike bosses go down in seconds! Gjallarhorn... The bane of every enemy period. Major. Ultra, strike boss, raid boss. Gjallarhorn laughed at them all and destroyed their resolve. What makes fatebringer good? My friend, it was one of the three most coveted weapons ever in destiny. If you never experienced it. You just won't know... But I can tell you, that whispers of this weapon will echo through the life of destiny, those three masters of pve will always be remembered, and every enemy and boss will forever fear the trifecta. Why, was fatebringer good? Ha-ha, git gud scrub =p

You'll never know it's true glory. You see all these snipers and MIDAs? Replace them with Fatebringers, then use it in PvE. You'll have an idea how it was viewed

It has outlaw and firefly along with arc damage which is the most common shield in yr 1. Also hoards of thrall where common so you could 1 shot them all.

2 RepliesThis was a handcannon that had 12-13 bullets, the firefly perk, and arc damage. On a nightfall with small arms and arc burn, a 365 fatebringer could do around 11000 precision damage each shot. Plus it also technically deals fire damage to with firefly. It was gold.

1 ReplySo basically you would get 1 head shot kill the enemy explodes 7 other enemies around that enemy and then you have lightning fast reload. Explosive rounds. Nightfalls with arc burn all you needed was fatebringer to solo it on any character...it was the ultimate pve primary ever to this day.

Just imagine the woman of your dreams in the form of a large handgun. When you tickle her in that special way, she lets out this cute little squeal and everything around you starts dying.....yeah.. Oh, and she has arc burn

Edited by SLlIK: 1/15/2016 1:52:24 AMIt was the only hand cannon (or primary besides scouts) with firefly, and because HCs are strong as fack its a mob vaporiser (and primaries are for mobs) on top of that it has the biggest mag and outlaw (arguably the best perk for HCs) and on top of [i]that[/i] it has arc burn. On arc burn nightfalls it was as good as Gjally, if you had both then gg.

It was special because I used it as target practice for my Vision of Confluence.
