Some guy keeps telling me shotguns take more skill and I just can't wrap my head around it.
Edit: He said my poll was biased. What????????

My biased opinion is that snipers require a lot more than what people give them credit for... I personally use the no land beyond so I always snipe regardless of map or range. I love headshots since they are achieved by actual effort. Shotguns do require some skill but when I'm killed by people using shotguns. It is hard to give them credit since it is exceptionally easy to maneuver your way to someone using the different evasive tactics. Getting kills with a shotgun just seems too simple when it can be a 1 shot, a shot with a punch, or a 2 shot. With a sniper, it is either you kill what you see or not. With a shotgun if you miss, you can still come back since you are most likely in close range already. Now snipers can be cheap if the user is cheap... I completely agree with that, but going around saying snipers require no skill is absurd. Same with shotguns, they do require a certain amount of skill, it is just my opinion that snipers have a wider margin for error than a shotgun.

They both require different types of skill snipers require you to open your defenses while you zoom at one person making yourself exposed to other attacks, while shotguns make you get close to someone which opens you to more attacks while you get close to them. They both require different types of skill for different people, some just think one is harder than the other.

1 ReplyYour thread is biased because you didn't say sniper rifles.

3 RepliesTake a shot every time you play against someone using a thousand yard stare, and I promise you that you'll die of alcohol poisoning within an hour.

12 RepliesSnipers - rely on good aim (even with some AA), patience, and keeping an eye on your surroundings (assuming you're sniping from the back as intended and not quick-scoping like a scrub). Shotguns - require getting in close to the enemy(s) and often putting yourself at risk for a close range [panic] super, melees, etc. while making sure your spread hits the moving target. IMO both take a different kind of skill.

Fusion rifles and sidearms take more skill

No juss balls

Fusion Rifles

Both don't take much , but snipers lol

Honestly, both take skill I won't explain why but I will say this... Skill is not JUST about good ads precision. Side Arms and Fusions take more skill though.

Edited by G: 1/16/2016 11:40:22 PMSince the December update, shotguns require more skill. Also considering now that everybody snipes and uses TLW, it without a doubt takes more skill and risk to make a push with a shotgun.

At close range shotguns are the easiest to use because all you need to do is pull the trigger. With snipers you can be getting a mag unloaded into you and still pull off a headshot. I personally think snipers are worse
-
Chaperone takes more skill because its the only shot gun that doesn't one shot no matter where u hit them. It will only 1 shot if its a head shot but has more range because of it.
-
Seeing as how you can sit across the map and 1 shot anyone already engaged in a gun fight with impunity ad a sniper..MY vote is shotgun. You have to be directly in the action. Maybe you got the drop on someone. Maybe youre invis. Or just went kamikaze. ..Either way you aren't leaving unscathed. And if you got a decent kd doing that versus picking ppl off from afar who never see u.. you get props

5 RepliesI'm gonna be honest and say shotguns. Especially right now, truly being good with a shotgun is about understanding where to place yourself, move, evade and flank. Using your position to out think your enemy. This is coming from someone who never uses shotguns.
-
2 RepliesIf you think both take more skill than just "aim and fire"....my friend, you are stupid..
-
At the moment shotguns are pretty weak, so I'm going to have to go with those
-
4 RepliesIf you don't get a headshot sniping and the person you are shooting at sees you and is good you will most likely die which is why I think sniping is harder

1 ReplySnipers aren't that hard to use, honestly, and this is coming from someone who hardly ever snipes in Crucible. Even if you can't reliably score headshots, just go for a body shot and finish off your target with your primary. Also, I tried sniping a bit earlier today, and headshots really weren't that hard to hit. Maybe I'm just a lot better at sniping than I give myself credit for. But shotguns seriously don't take any skill. None at all. Just get up close (and with the combination of small maps and plenty of mobility options--blink, glide, double jump, etc.--closing distances is quite easy), point, and shoot.

2 RepliesIt actually takes some skill to snipe, despite what people say. But i follow the TrueVanguard sniping style which means I stay moving, active, and snipe when I can, and don't use it as a crutch for every situation. I still get a lot more primary kills than secondary. It didn't start this way though. When I started I couldn't hit heads to save my life. Literally. I had to build up the skill of quick and accurate target acquisition. For proof, check my last run of IB games. But not the most recent. That one didn't happen.
