Ditch Fireborn, don't be scared.
This raid has made me positive on one thing. Self-Rez Warlocks are almost always the weak link in a fireteam. If you play like you always have a second chance, you play sloppy. You can't save yourself or make up for your bad, natural decisions when that super isn't charged.
My clan raid group wasn't on last night so I spent 7 hours at Oryx with 4 different LFG fireteams making this decision. After seeing ___________ has self-resurected every round I think my theory is sound. Sunsinger is a crutch for the weak in this raid.

Edit : I keep hearing "Self-Rez is for those oh shit moments." Titans and hunters some how deal with oh shit moments not needing Self-Rez because we have learned to not get ourselves into those situations = better players.
Edit 2 : As for the 2 grenades for ogres argument. One decent Titan with Blessing of Light and Touch of Malice can handle ogres by themselves. Highest level Titan should always be top platform on ogre duty.
Edit 3 : I'm not saying a Warlock has never saved my ass before in a raid, they haven't in this one but past raids sure. My whole point is I believe Warlocks take unnecessary risks because they have that get out of jail card in their back pocket.
Last edit then I'm done with this : Every Warlock argument starts with "WHEN I die...." case closed.
OK OK OK I get it. Self-Rez is the best ever and the most valuable Sub-class Warlocks have. Sunsingers need to simmer down, quit getting so hot under the collar, any other solar pun I can think of, and realize this was an opinion based off of a horrible night of raiding with apparently the only Warlocks that play Destiny that Self-Rez every 5 seconds until they can't. #WarlockSuperAwesomeMasterRaceOfAllRacesPeriod!!!!
Lastly, and everyone pay attention, JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE POSTS AN OPNION DOESN'T MAKE IT DESTINY LAW! There is something strange about the fact that people are trying desperately to prove their worth to, more than likely, myself or a bunch of people they don't know or will never raid with. Probably just a little hidden guilt and shame on Fireborn user's part. If someone posts that Defender bubble is useless in a raid, I keep scrolling because I understand fully that they are indeed an asshole. I hope Warlocks revive their body fluids when they Self-Rez because they are getting hella dehydrated from all the tears flowing.

By the way, my Ward of Dawn helps the entire team through the whole raid, not just myself when I die or that rare chance when the whole team dies and you finish a hard raid boss by yourself as it seems Warlocks do on an hourly basis. Contribute some orbs and clear some ADS you selfish, Self-Rez space bitches.

3 RepliesEdited by TheRealGrumpyPants: 10/29/2015 8:05:44 AMBollocks, we did the raid last night with two randoms and one of my regular friends was a sunsinger, the randoms died on the last rotation on oryx and we only had two to do blight bombs, my mate obviously sacrificed himself to get the bomb detonated then self rezed at the right time to help us do the last dps to oryx as there was only 4 off us left... I'd rather a warlock self Rez in my raid group than a judgemental knob like yourself

I will run sun singer because I have armor that give me bonuses for running as a solar based character. Plus solar grenades take out the spawning enemies after the snipers are taken care of on the daughters. Throw grenade cook enemies and dance while they cook. Other class grenades do not last as long. Also when I self Rez and get that final hit before oryx slams when there are only two of us alive, thank a warlock because he just saved the oryx run and prevented a wipe!

Why does everyone suddenly assume with warlocks having a self rez ability that it leaves them more room to make a mistake or an excuse for screwing up? Sure it gives you a little breathing room but it shouldn't be a priority to play carelessly and then just say "whoops, my bad guys, lemme self rez". Everytime I die with self rez I always say "Dangit, sorry guys" cause I don't want to screw my team over. When you say "ditch self rez" I'm not gonna do that because you told me to. I rub self rez in the hard raid because it's useful to be able to have a revive button when there aren't any revives and when you don't have 6 people in the raid, it's pretty difficult to do anything. As soon as you did at Oryx it's essentially a wipe. Before you call me any names or try to argue with me let me tell you something: I don't run self rez, or sunsinger for that matter, in any crucible event unless it is radiant skin. I prefer to use stormcaller or voidwalker for fun activities with my friends cause they're awesome subclasses. And I clutched Warpriest on hard mode as the last alive in my fireteam by self rezzing, taking the aura, and sniping him to death. If anything I think radiance needs a buff that way it actually feels like a support class instead of the self rez class. Bungie nerfed the amount of grenades you can throw with radiance active so it becomes useless in both PvP and PvE to me since those are a strong part of sunsinger. I just hope it becomes a better support class cause right now it's good for about 1 thing.

I only play the Warlock class, and this is true for me. When I'm using the Voidwalker or Sith Lord...I mean Stormcaller subclasses, I play a lot more conservatively. But when I'm using a Sunsinger and my super is charged, I get reckless. Sometimes I don't even let a team mate revive me, even if it's convenient for them to do so, I just activate Fireborn as soon as I'm down.

I use self-Rez for clutch moments, and we've had them. As for myself, I rarely die... BUT, the same can't be said for the Hunters and Titans in my clan that seem to die for the stupidest reasons. It's not the class that is the problem, it's the person behind the class.

I agree that some people play sloppy when using rez. I do not. I have gone through entire raids without dying except from oversoul or getting wiped in vog. I like it. For KF however, I'd prefer to play my hunter main or my titan with Weapons of Light

I main a hunter but I use self rez on my warlock its nice to have I don't die a lot but when I do its nice to have a backup

3 RepliesAlways ran radiant skin thought the same thing I like the sun singer neutral game but thought self rez was pointless because you shouldn't plan on dying if your a good player. It's a very clear decision between the two either you accept death or prevent it by being a complete tank.

What I would say to this is what do you want warlocks in general to do? I understand you played with shitty players and that is your first solution. But in King's Fall what would you want a warlock to do differently? Being a fireborn sunsinger is probably the most useful subclass loadout a warlock can be other than one stormcaller for the last 25% of golgoroth. Sure some people play riskier with self res up, but I think more boss wipes are saved because a sunsinger can self res and keep going than not. Just my two cents tho. This IS just an opinion post after all :)

1 ReplyThink of it this way, yes some warlocks pull crazy shit us of self rez, but that is because they can, and most of the time the crazy stuff needs to be pulled off in order to progress. But all sunsingers know that its up to them to be the last hope of the fire team, whether they are the first or last to die in the team, they focus on keeping the team alive and trying to rez teammates or hide somewhere until timer is gone. You should always want a sunsinger on your team when you are attempting something hard. There are also some people who suck and do use it as a crutch....but we dont talk about them...

I don't play sloppy. I use it as a last resort. I rarely self rez as is and using my alchemist raiment chest gets me grenade and melee energy upon orb pick up, my devouring maw regens my shields via orb pick up, and lastly Tlaloc is a Damn good gun for sunsingers. Just because you find sloppy players it doesn't mean everyone is.

I want to use stormcaller but get requested to use selfrez instead. Stormcaller clears crowds at totems, warpriest and golgoroth

I'm a hunter and when I use warlock I'll use self res... I'm used to playing without having that second chance and normally I just forget. I play exactly the same but on hard having that second chance is so satisfying when you die

Hiding and waiting for health respawn, meaning encounters take longer and are constantly 1-2 people down getting their health or 2. They die and a encounter has to reset as the teams a person or more down. If a warlocks being reckless just because they have res that just shows how shit a player is. I only use my res at moments the encounters going to end but people can be revived and continue. The only viable waste res strategy was on trials with purifier robes on where you'd run at the other team just to die and then blind them on res. I hate these sorts of posts when it used to be VOG with hunters going oh I can do the gorgon maze I'll just go invisible...nice what about the other 5 members of your team jackass?

I hear ya, and I think you make a great point. But they do save a team occasionally. I've never really used it, since I main a hunter. But I'm looking forward to making sure I don't play in such a way, where I rely on the self res.
