This raid has made me positive on one thing. Self-Rez Warlocks are almost always the weak link in a fireteam. If you play like you always have a second chance, you play sloppy. You can't save yourself or make up for your bad, natural decisions when that super isn't charged.
My clan raid group wasn't on last night so I spent 7 hours at Oryx with 4 different LFG fireteams making this decision. After seeing ___________ has self-resurected every round I think my theory is sound. Sunsinger is a crutch for the weak in this raid.
#TitanMasterRace #HunterIsOk
Edit : I keep hearing "Self-Rez is for those oh shit moments." Titans and hunters some how deal with oh shit moments not needing Self-Rez because we have learned to not get ourselves into those situations = better players.
Edit 2 : As for the 2 grenades for ogres argument. One decent Titan with Blessing of Light and Touch of Malice can handle ogres by themselves. Highest level Titan should always be top platform on ogre duty.
Edit 3 : I'm not saying a Warlock has never saved my ass before in a raid, they haven't in this one but past raids sure. My whole point is I believe Warlocks take unnecessary risks because they have that get out of jail card in their back pocket.
Last edit then I'm done with this : Every Warlock argument starts with "WHEN I die...." case closed.
OK OK OK I get it. Self-Rez is the best ever and the most valuable Sub-class Warlocks have. Sunsingers need to simmer down, quit getting so hot under the collar, any other solar pun I can think of, and realize this was an opinion based off of a horrible night of raiding with apparently the only Warlocks that play Destiny that Self-Rez every 5 seconds until they can't. #WarlockSuperAwesomeMasterRaceOfAllRacesPeriod!!!!
Lastly, and everyone pay attention, JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE POSTS AN OPNION DOESN'T MAKE IT DESTINY LAW! There is something strange about the fact that people are trying desperately to prove their worth to, more than likely, myself or a bunch of people they don't know or will never raid with. Probably just a little hidden guilt and shame on Fireborn user's part. If someone posts that Defender bubble is useless in a raid, I keep scrolling because I understand fully that they are indeed an asshole. I hope Warlocks revive their body fluids when they Self-Rez because they are getting hella dehydrated from all the tears flowing.
--------- FINAL EDIT -----------
By the way, my Ward of Dawn helps the entire team through the whole raid, not just myself when I die or that rare chance when the whole team dies and you finish a hard raid boss by yourself as it seems Warlocks do on an hourly basis. Contribute some orbs and clear some ADS you selfish, Self-Rez space bitches.

7 RepliesWhen's the last time you had to wipe because a warlock died? Most wipes tend to happen because a Titan or hunter screwed up, if you wipe 5 times on a boss I can tell you now it wasn't because a warlock died it was because a Titan or hunter did. Mistakes happen ass whole, no reason for us not to have a backup plan
-
It's not really that big a deal. If you are a warlock then check with your team and see if they want you to run it. I hardly ever die because I'm doing stupid stuff. I run it so my team won't have to wipe. I'll also use it to make orbs after I check with my team to see if they want to waste a Rez. Just getting a better team that communicates.

5 RepliesSong of flame warlocks sign here Grenades for everyone #noSelfRez
-
Pve wise self res is only logical. Radiant skin doesn't help. And 2-3 extra grenades does not make a difference. So I run self res because I'm gonna die. And you will too op. Everyone has died during a raid. So stop trying to pretend like you're some amazing mlg player.
-
I use self Rez in hard but I still play careful. I find myself never using it and I don't like that. So I'll pop it every now and than to make orbs for the support classes.
-
1 ReplyI think people underestimate radiant skin. Why wait until after you die to super when radiant skin prevents you from dieing in the first place.
-
4 RepliesSelf res is not a crutch it's actually warlocks only support role because they can save you from a wipe. Fire born would of been better if you could revive teammates that were already dead
-
1 ReplyYou guys don't pay attention to shit unless it's something you want to pull out of context and make fun of. This whole post was about what I saw watching random LFG Warlocks who use fireborn. I wasn't with my clan doing this when it took 7 hours trying to beat hard mode. The next night when they were on, ran through it in about 45 min and yes there where some of those nasty Fireborn guys running with me. Point of story, once again, I think that that subclass perk in specific draws a certain player towards it. Once that player becomes used to playing like they have two lives it sticks with them even when they don't.
-
Titans can bubble. Hunters can invis. Warlocks have self res. I personally go voidwalker in the raid. Some times I'll mess with sunsinger. But mainly for making orbs so we have constant shadow shot and Titan bubbles.
-
It's not a fear of not having that second chance. I play as though it is a last resort- ex: something goes wrong and 3 people are dead at totems (including me), i will revive for the chance at saving the wipe. That's just an example for that encounter though. Usually it's to keep up dps against bosses in hardmode (losing a teammate to unforseen circumstances is a gauranteed wipe if you drop to 4 players usually). Though, it sound like you were playing with either year 2 noobs, who are still in the thought of self res being the best ability; or, they're a bunch of kids that actually are using it as a crutch. Proper self res warlocks don't play as though their super is disposable

1 ReplyI use because i'm top 1% in suicides :p

3 RepliesEdited by Xesty: 10/29/2015 7:04:44 PMAbout your Final Edit. That's a really lame argument (unless you're actually on a totem during ogres). Why? Because Deathsinger platform is the safest place in the entire oryx fight. Saying you warlocks suck cause you die and I don't, while you are on the Deathsinger platform with your bubble the entire time is lame because there's literally no legitimate reason to die up there. Edit: this is literally the stupidest advice I've heard anyone give. I'm all for getting better at the game but if you suck and need self-Rez to beat the raid then by all means do it. And then get better at the game on your own time not mine.

I use warlocks and im amazing at the raid. I can do things others cant because i have an extra life and can afford to die. I can rush out to get a blight even if it kills me cuz ill just come back. I can take the shitty place to run for bombs cuz i can afford to die. If we kill the sisters and die at the same time i self rez and save it which has happened a few times. Warlocks have their use and not everyone plays sloppy maybe its just your raid group
-
As a warlock that converted from a hunter I have to say, surviving is my top priority, self Rez is there if my most of it the entire Fireteam died, I'd be able to get up and get them. If prefer not to die, but I pretty much always have it equipped for the one possible "We fücked up" moment.
-
It makes me play a bit more recklessly. I absolutely go and get that ammo if I need it and I have a self res. I'll try and kill that mob because I have my self res. That's why you see it more. Because they're doing things that hunters and Titans will not because we know we have two lives.
-
Wow people are applying "crutch" to PvE lmao bungeeeejjjjjiiiii nurf PvE 3op5me
-
3 RepliesWas with you until you said it was a crutch. Everyone dies at least once in a raid. Having a second life is amazingly helpful. Saying its a crutch is just stupid
-
A few days ago we had a hunter who was a shit player and kept dying over stupid shit. His excuse was that he was just a hunter, a very stupid excuse if you ask me. At one point he even said that it was fine to replace him with a Titan or warlock. My point is that it's not the class which sucks. It's the player. I main a warlock but even in the raid I use voidwalker for everything except oryx. At oryx I use storm caller for ad control. The people who rely on selres are the same people kind of people who only used thorn in crucible. They can't hold their own. But not all warlocks are like this.
-
1 ReplyIMO the best current setup for HM Oryx would be: 2 Titans. 1 as runner, 1 doing Ogres on Deathsinger platforms. Alternate blessings, runner won't need his. 4 Warlocks. They run the plates. Not too sure why Hunters get so much love in HM Oryx. What exactly are you tethering? The red bar knights? The ogres? The shade? Honestly I can't really think of a situation where a tether is more preferable over a self rez. Oryx only obviously, everyone knows it's great overall. If you have 2 Titans you don't need to pickup orbs, the main use of tether I've seen is off the start to make orbs.
-
I feel the same. self res warlocks tend to be sloppy. you could use your radiance and not die. Or just don't put yourself in bad situations. and it's not like you get your super fast. seen many times a self res warlock use the super then end up dead again.
-
It's not that we are scared to run fireborn. It is that we don't want to constantly wipe because we fucked something stupid up. When you guys fuck something stupid up you get frustrated and usually leave because you can't stay alive or self res to save a wipe.
-
2 RepliesWhat else do you want us to use? It's not like we have a support class
-
I play all 3 classes regularly and I do use self Rez sometimes. Even with it on an am almost never the one that dies first. It is just for emergencies
-
16 RepliesWhen in the hard raids, Hunter and Titan deaths cause wipes. It happens and I don't scream into my mic, "scrub, scrub, you suck, you are causing the team to wipe. Scrub!" When a sunsinger dies he yells out, "keep going I have self Rez." At the right moment they come back to life and help with the objective, the game continues. So the next time you die as a Hunter or a Titan, and the team continues on STFU. No one cares how you died. They are trying to finish the objective without you. While you are spectating think about how useless you are. When the team wipes and the everyone says, "Don't worry it happens." Be thankful you were not kicked because your team know you were the cause of the wipe.

Self Rez crutchhhhhh, always has been.
