Who else is disappointed in 343?
I'm so disappointed in halo. They hyped up 4 and it was lame and this one will be the same. Especially since I can't play it with friends on the same console. I'm going with star wars battlefront and fallout 4 this fall. Just wondering who else feels the same?
Edit: I didn't realize how many people would accuse me of "judging this game before its even out." Really? I am well within reason to judge it before its out. I'm surprised so many of you expect me to throw money at it when it comes out and THEN decide if I like it or not. I'm not doing that. I played the beta, I watched gameplay, I watched Nightfall and I followed Hunt the Truth. I listened intently, and I decided I will not be buying it because I am disappointed in the direction they are going, and pissed that they would remove split screen. Anyone intelligent will wait and see. I could be proven wrong, and if so, I will buy the game later when the price has gone down anyways.
Edit: why do so many people keep bringing up the fact that fallout 4 is single player? So? I like my fallout single player and I like my halo split screen, its the way the games were always made. Its two separate worlds and game styles.
Edit: To explain further, I played the Halo 5 beta, followed all the news, and decided I'm not buying in right now. I'm not trashing 343 I'm just saying I'm disappointed in the direction they have taken Halo. As such I will buy the game used when its cheap so I can get the campaign in and then return the game when I'm through, I'm not going to support the big hype train or directly support the company I feel is responsible for messing up one of my all time favorite games.

They're trying to innovate the series and keep it from repeating CoDs mistake of rehashing the same engine and mechanics. They took the feedback from Halo 4 and fixed their mistakes. 343i is taking Halo in a direction Bungie couldn't have because they were obviously tired of Halo which is why they left MS. So who's to say the series would've been better in their hands? I'm gonna ask YOU what would you change about the series to make it better since you don't like what 343I is doing.

But it wasn't a game, so you can't judge a game series based on a lacklustre live action show However, halo4 WAS disappointing, despite some good moments and impressive graphics, so 343 have to really pull out all the stops and then some for halo5. Of course, the broader question is, has halo had its day?

1 ReplyI actually thought halo 4 was the best halo. All the other ones had repetitive fighting arenas whereas 343's environments actually felt like places that just happened to be I the middle of a fight. If anything, I think destiny would have benefitted from being more like halo 4 in terms of its campaign and story telling.

It seems like you don't care about the story since you're going to buy a MP only game. Keep on being a fake Halo fan with no knowledge of Halo outside of the trilogy Bungie gave us which didn't explain shit.

2 RepliesIf you don't like the direction Halo's story is going, then that's your preference and I can't refute that, but to bash 343 would be wrong. Frankly, they've been one of the best, cooperative studios that I've ever seen, and they've worked hard to ensure that Halo 5 has everything that the community wanted. It's innovative, yet classic, and it's a frankly beautiful game. Halo 4 was bad, and even 343 admired that it was disappointing, but what were they supposed to do? They were takin gone of the most treasured gaming franchises in history and trying to make a new game, so of course they weren't going to innovate. Halo 5 has been different. They've grown more confident, more proactive in interacting with the fanbase, and frankly a better studio than Bungie has been of late. Once upon a time I wished that Bungie had kept Halo, but now I'm kind of glad they passed down the Mantle... So to speak. Also, the people blaming you for judging the game before it comes out are correct, but most of them are assuming that it's going to be good, and that's hypocrisy.

It's still got that, but with more personal and closer interactions. And the multiplayer felt great. Don't have much else to say. I get the impression 343 pours their heart and soul into this. Especially when you look at the updates to stuff like forge. 343 simply couldn't put out Halo 4 at a good quality cause it was rushed. I [i]know [/i]I'll enjoy Halo 5, because I've already enjoyed the beta. There's nothin else to it. If it's not your thing, then I guess it's time to move on. Cause 343 is captain of the ship, and that's probably not gunna change. In your opinion, how would you prefer them to "interpret halo" though? Cause they're actually adding some depth of character into the people involved. Do you prefer a faceless, emotionless death machine every game? It was fun while it lasted, but I don't think another trilogy of that would hold people's attention. Some of your frustration is justifiable, but I don't see many legitimate reasons given for disappointment besides not liking it. Also, not many games are split screen these days. I wouldn't hang onto that feature with a real tight grip.

3 RepliesNot at all, no doubt a lot of people didn't like the multi player, it didn't bother me as much as some people, but the campaign was solid. Not as good as 3 but it had a great mix of vehicles and level layouts. Sure they -blam!-ed up with the MCC release, but unlike Bungie's -blam!- ups with Destiny, they didn't ignore/pretend it didn't happen. They owned up to it gave me a free month of xbox live and the ODST campaign free. We all screw up in life, I got respect for those who can take responsibility for their actions.

4 RepliesSo I almost didn't buy it for the same reason but now I'm just going to treat halo like a single player game and get other coop games like cod, battlefront, battle born, have guitar hero live, tales of zestria. Halo 4 was okay and I'm hoping halo 5 is better, beta wasn't too impressive but the story seems interesting.
