What's the first game that at the time you considered basically "perfect"?
Name the game, what system it was on, and any commentary around your thoughts.
Mine was Super Mario Bros. 3 for the original NES.
EDIT: great suggestions everyone. There are definitely a few on here I never got to play that I'll have to go back and try to get to!
EDIT 2: looking like Halo 3 and Star Wars Battlefront II are the leaders (halo is ahead if you consider all Halo as a franchise). One not mentioned, but all these great ideas got me to thinking about was Dark Cloud or Rogue Galaxy for ps2. Fantastic rpgs if you've never played them

6 RepliesNo game will ever be perfect to everyone, because there will always be some people who dislike it. I think the closest it's ever got though is probably the first video game ever made, because it was so new and people didn't know what to think

3 RepliesEdited by Tartan 118: 9/4/2015 5:00:56 PMProbably Half-Life 1. To this day, I can't think of an objectively better game I've played. As a total package, even Halo CE falls short, with its flawed but fun MP.

Smash Bros Melee on GC. Fun, casual party game and serious, competitive fighting game.

Whatever, one other game I wouldn't even put in the air quotes "perfect" category but that I though was a blast was Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Got to be one of the best Marvel licensed game in my opinion!
