You are beside two train tracks. One of which has an infant baby on it and the other has two grown men and one woman. The two tracks come from a fork in the original track, and there is a speeding train going down it. You are helpless to stop it and have no way of saving these human beings. You do, however, have a choice. Choose Option A and you switch the tracks for the child to be slaughtered, or Option B, and switch the tracks so that those poor men and women die. Which one is morally correct?
Edit1: So far it seems, as quoted by Talos, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few".
Edit2: You can't put the track in the middle, nor can the people save themselves. They are tied up.
Edit3: For those trying to break the rules and derail the train, this is what happens and it kills everyone.
Edit4: If you do nothing then you will be killed by crazed satanists and will be sacrificed to the devil in the most painful and excruciating way.

Switch the train to option a, then save the baby yourself
-
1 ReplyI wouldn't get involved. If you did, you would be charged with the murder of whoever you didn't save.
-
Kick the baby
-
Take no action.
-
Option B. It's the classic "If I have time to take a hit for you, you have time to get out of the way" dilemma.
-
If I have to choose to switch to either A or B, that surely means if I do nothing I won't hit any of them.

Edited by Zanketsu33: 7/20/2015 9:10:10 PMI'll go with A. I feel the baby will be like Johanne from Monster
-
3 vs 1 it's pretty easy.
-
Option B. The adults are adults, and that's just natural selection. The infant clearly was abandoned, and thats just wrong.
-
8 RepliesOpinion C: switch the track to where its not switched over all the way and crash the train before it kills the people.
-
2 RepliesOne answer. The final test to become a kingsman.
-
8 RepliesB, according to society, babies aren't humans, they're just clusters of cells!
-
You said that in boh situations the train changes tracks, which means you can just not do anything and it won't hit them. For real though, anyone who doesn't kill the child is a dumbass.
-
2 RepliesEdited by ChartreuseSaru: 7/20/2015 8:08:22 PMOption B. I can handle the deaths of a few grown people better than I can the death of one child. For me, that's just the morally right thing to do. Everybody is different.
-
Needs of the many outweigh the needs of he few
-
3 RepliesSwitch the track halfway so the train derails. I want the most possible deaths.
-
I doubt I'd be able to make that decision.
-
Why the hell are 3 adults sitting on train tracks. It's there own dam fault. Plus why do I have to do anything shouldn't the train just go on its course?
-
Keep flipping it back and forth so the train derails and kills all the passengers instead Probably taking out the baby and other people while I'm at it. When they arrest me I'll say "strike" cause I knocked em all down
-
I pick up the baby and move it to adults. Then I switch it to b.
-
2 RepliesI would save the baby because What if the people were messing around with the wrong people or doing bad th8ngs resorting into someone putting them on that track. And a baby is a baby so it couldnt have done anything and it still has a full life to live and could be important one day. Either way why am i waking up on these damn tracks again!!
-
Killed the baby so it would stop crying.
-
3 RepliesJust saying, you've presented this incorrectly. What happens if you refrain from switching the tracks?
-
2 RepliesIn my opinion. Those who lived less need their chance to live. For it is the young that will change the world. Not the old
-
Walk away. It's none of my responsibility.

Edited by SithSaint : 7/20/2015 8:07:19 PMI've seen an infant crushed by a train and I still can't un-see that .... I'd have to save the kid only because I couldn't bare to see something like that again ....
