Yes, you people quitting because of weapons are clowns. You're unaware of how MMO type games work. You will grind for even better weapons in 2.0. They don't give the best weapons in the first year and call it a day; there will be more. Those new weapons will be obsolete at some point and others will come out, enjoy the ride.
Edit: The whole clown thing... I have a really good friend who quit this game because he didn't get a Ghorn yet. Guess what? I called him a clown as well ;)

2 RepliesWho cares about the new weapons.
-
2 RepliesYeah and then nerf , nerf , nerf , nerf and nerf some more until the players can't enjoy the game any more. It's what it's looking like . Player: hey this gun is great ! Look at how much damage I do ! Bungie: oh no, no, no, that's not how we intended this weapon to be used. Update coming in 2 months . This will be a never ending cycle . And I LOVE this game. Smh

4 RepliesBut you are mistaken if you think $40 is going to land you more gear or content than $60 did. Can't deny facts.
-
2 RepliesBecause the weapons on POE are so much better than any other? The POE weapons are horrible. There are some that are ok but the VOG and Crota weapons are much better. So if history repeats itself (which it usually does) the new weapons won't be any better
-
5 RepliesI hate to break it to you but exactly how much content do you think you are getting with the taken king?? There will only be a few new weapons not a whole bunch to pick from so once again we will all look the same and have the same lodeouts, weapons will need rebalancing once again because bungie doesn't want us all to use the same thing which will happen again
-
I haven't decided one way or another about staying with the game, but I am leaning toward at least a long break if not quitting altogether. This has much more to do with upcoming games, though, than the weapon updates. But instead of hurling childish insults maybe you need to stop and consider how much faith players have in bungie right now. I'm a Destiny player, and defender. I've enjoyed the game, good and bad, from beta and day one. And, I'm experienced with mmo games and how gear becomes outdated. I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the fact that we haven't been given enough in the way of fun, useful new gear. You can add a few hundred guns with each dlc but let's be honest, raid and now trials weapons are almost, almost being the operative word, the only ones worth using besides exotics. Then consider that vanilla Destiny raid weapons are still the best, better than tdb, poe, and trials, and the most recent dlc weapons are harder to get because they drop less in poe and not everyone likes pvp/can go flawless in trials. Bungie can balance whatever they need to, I genuinely don't mind, but they are making everything equally mediocre instead of making more weapons really great so we use a variety, and their track record with new gear is cause for concern when making the old gear less useful. If they added a burn type to mida, any at all, if they left icebreaker/bh alone, if they had made necro or no land beyond genuinely useful, if the tdb raid weapons hadn't been generally weaker than the vog ones, then we'd probably see more variety in what people used, but they are constantly taking away any advantage from gear in a game that is driven by the grind to get new gear. The early interviews with devs talked about gear telling a story, about getting mods from in game events to use on weapons, suggesting that you could modify and update your old gear at least for a while. But when new gear is consistently less powerful and less useful, people would be right to be skeptical at best. Combine that with the fact that Destiny is a hybrid game, fpsmmo, and the fact that the fps user base are a type more likely to get attached to gear and not want to change it, and they are going to clash with the mmo user base that knows and expects obsolescence in gear, which in turn leads to pissing matches on the forums, and us arguing with each other rather than discussing, productively, the game that brought us here. I have loved my time in Destiny. I am wary at best of the gear changes because it doesn't seem like they are actually going to make much more useful, just make more less useful. I want Destiny to succeed, but I want the game that we were promised because that game, that is a game I'll happily invest my time and money in for the long haul. I'll pay for expansions to that game, I'll lose myself for hundreds more hours, thousands even considering how much I've played in year one. But if my time feels wasted because everything I've managed to get had been made weaker, with nothing better to replace it, and there is no content really worth exploring, then that time and that money will go elsewhere. That's not a threat to bungie, it's not a promise that I'm gone never to return, it's just a simple fact.

1 ReplyJust let the Ragers leave cause haters gonna hate

1 ReplyYou mean to tell me .. a game that is all about shooting stuff with weapons, is introducing ... new weapons in a DLC? Getting new weapons is a given in a shooter, my friend, that's the whole point of the game. Besides, Destiny isn't an MMO. The only "massive" thing about Destiny is the grind to get Ghorn.
-
4 RepliesNever design obsolescence. Rather than making the old, best gear obsolete by nerfing it, it would be better design to make the new weapons better. Apparently they aren't creative enough to do that.
-
5 RepliesThe difference is that Bungie have to nerf the best weapons to sell us weak gear ? With all this mess, a new player can be lv 34 in less than 2 week and able to do the "endgame' like the vet !
-
2 RepliesDestiny is probably the worst mmo lol. It's more so just a more customizable call of duty with bad servers.
-
2 RepliesSure, How proved you right.
-
1 ReplyI don't think people are quitting because of the weapons.. They are quitting because destiny is just flat out becoming boring. They just use the weapon tuning as a justifiable outlet.
-
10 RepliesEnjoy the ride? :P You're unaware of this MMO concept called "Player Investment". See, when we invest our time and effort into the way our characters look and play, and then the developers come behind us and change things around, they are the clowns, not us. Forced obsolescence of gear may work for the short-attention span types, who only play to get the next shiny bauble, but not me.

9 RepliesI don't wanna NEED to grind for new weapons I would like the choice to keep the weapons I worked hard for or find a new one: Forbes: "If you find something in your game that feels overpowered, that’s good. Players will enjoy it. The solution is never to remove that feeling of power, but to power up other things in the game to meet it. When you weaken your most fun tools, you push everything into a mushy middle. Better to explode everything out into weird and new directions by enabling the players." Why nerf your Franchise weapons? Why take Jordan out in the first quarter!?!?!?!?

2 RepliesEdited by Achro: 7/20/2015 8:01:22 PMSo......in a game that's primarily about grinding mercilessly for new and better guns, any objections to changes to these long sought after weapons is clownish.....? You must be a mensa member. You incentivize players to move on, you don't essentially punish your most dedicated players by invalidating their efforts and discarding player's time/resource decisions.

3 RepliesHell, I quit, it's just the app is still on my phone so I openly troll
-
6 RepliesUr dum
-
18 RepliesAnd what was the point of getting the old ones then? I don't wanna grind for weapons that will become useless in year 2 1/2...either make superior weapons to those we already have or make them more fun or interesting. I won't keep grinding only to shard it later in the year
-
11 RepliesLike better guns came with dark below (apart from black hammer) Like the better guns that came with house of wolves?! The new guns will be a$$ compared to ghorn

4 RepliesIf the new weapons were better, people wouldn't still be using vanilla weapons. If the new weapons were better, they wouldn't have to perpetually nerf the old weapons. Were the CE weapons better? Were the HOW weapons better? I think the CE weapons were interesting and added elemental burns, which was cool, but they ended up situational to me. HOW weapons seem to have just been bad. Wasted perks, can't be reforged, lackluster performance. I use thorn. When I'm not, my TFWPKY is my go to primary. It still has better range, reload and impact than the new HC's. I use my 3 LDR's regularly. They hit harder and have better perks than the new ones. 2 to the morgue is my go to shotty. Better all around than the new ones. Jolders Hammer (pre HOW) is my default MG. Perks and performance are still great and relevant. I'm not saying "I hate Bungie" or "Bungie is the best" Im saying that there has been an established performance pattern displayed by Bungie and, for me,I don't know that it's realistic to expect something different.

By George, I think you've done it!

1 ReplyLet them quit
-
1 ReplyShhh. Just let the idiots leave. Maybe there will be less whining.
-
3 RepliesYup new weapons are coming and I'm sure they'll be just as awesome as the Poe and queens weapons (can't comment on trials weapons).
-
2 RepliesWhile I do feel the stated weapon changes in 2.0 are (modest) hit or (unnecessary and overdone) miss, the biggest impact in looking ahead will be had by the new weapons. Unfortunately, we're left with the weapons from HoW as an example of what Bungievision thinks is acceptable weapon offerings. With that as a frame of reference, I don't hold much hope for new weapons. Add in the fact that we're about to be brought once again before the mercy of RNGesus, and the thought of spending another 400 hours grinding for the one or two reasonable new weapons while formerly perfectly good ones sit in a broken state in our vaults is just not very appealing.
