Yep. Bungie gives them E. Light so they can enjoy their gear for the rest of year one, now they rage because they can't let them go to enjoy what year 2 has to offer

So it's ok for Bungie to continue to weaken weapons compared to the enemies? That has been the continual trend each expansion. HoW taught a very valuable lesson. The reason people keep holding onto the old stuff is because the new stuff does not work against the newer enemies. There are a couple of exceptions, but for the most part anything you get in PoE does not work against the enemies in PoE. The proof is in the pudding...

I haven't decided one way or another about staying with the game, but I am leaning toward at least a long break if not quitting altogether. This has much more to do with upcoming games, though, than the weapon updates. But instead of hurling childish insults maybe you need to stop and consider how much faith players have in bungie right now. I'm a Destiny player, and defender. I've enjoyed the game, good and bad, from beta and day one. And, I'm experienced with mmo games and how gear becomes outdated. I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the fact that we haven't been given enough in the way of fun, useful new gear. You can add a few hundred guns with each dlc but let's be honest, raid and now trials weapons are almost, almost being the operative word, the only ones worth using besides exotics. Then consider that vanilla Destiny raid weapons are still the best, better than tdb, poe, and trials, and the most recent dlc weapons are harder to get because they drop less in poe and not everyone likes pvp/can go flawless in trials. Bungie can balance whatever they need to, I genuinely don't mind, but they are making everything equally mediocre instead of making more weapons really great so we use a variety, and their track record with new gear is cause for concern when making the old gear less useful. If they added a burn type to mida, any at all, if they left icebreaker/bh alone, if they had made necro or no land beyond genuinely useful, if the tdb raid weapons hadn't been generally weaker than the vog ones, then we'd probably see more variety in what people used, but they are constantly taking away any advantage from gear in a game that is driven by the grind to get new gear. The early interviews with devs talked about gear telling a story, about getting mods from in game events to use on weapons, suggesting that you could modify and update your old gear at least for a while. But when new gear is consistently less powerful and less useful, people would be right to be skeptical at best. Combine that with the fact that Destiny is a hybrid game, fpsmmo, and the fact that the fps user base are a type more likely to get attached to gear and not want to change it, and they are going to clash with the mmo user base that knows and expects obsolescence in gear, which in turn leads to pissing matches on the forums, and us arguing with each other rather than discussing, productively, the game that brought us here. I have loved my time in Destiny. I am wary at best of the gear changes because it doesn't seem like they are actually going to make much more useful, just make more less useful. I want Destiny to succeed, but I want the game that we were promised because that game, that is a game I'll happily invest my time and money in for the long haul. I'll pay for expansions to that game, I'll lose myself for hundreds more hours, thousands even considering how much I've played in year one. But if my time feels wasted because everything I've managed to get had been made weaker, with nothing better to replace it, and there is no content really worth exploring, then that time and that money will go elsewhere. That's not a threat to bungie, it's not a promise that I'm gone never to return, it's just a simple fact.

A: we are not playing an MMO, we are playing an multiplayer FPS. B: Recent history suggests bungie blew its creative wad with the vanilla weapons, so the chances of them giving us "better" weapons us 0%

Mine is, nerfing pre existing weapons because they might interfere with or break new content is an indication that Bungie are not thinking far enough ahead and/or are having trouble designing encounter mechanics that negate old OP weapons. I'd much rather run into situation where Gally, BH aren't as effective against certain bosses/encounters within TTK, than have them stop being "cool" by nerfing them now. It's messes with my epeen. :)

It's not so much an issue of new weapons making old weapons obsolete. It's an issue of Bungie "rebalancing/nerfing" current weapons that don't honestly need it. Now, I'm fine with the Thorn and Final Round solutions for PvP, but FFS leave PvE alone. Gally OP? Yeah, I'll give you that. You and I both know it only rears it OP head when burns are active. Don't nerf the damn thing, buff the other exotics. You think it's ruins encounters, makes things too easy...delete yours. If I want to spam the living shit out Gally while I'm in a fireteam of my friends, how does that affect anyone...I'm only ruining my gaming experience. If the game had trading then ok. I could see issues with an OP weapon allowing ppl to farm items to sell. You don't like the LFG BS with requiring Gallys to join...implement optional Match Making. Or at the very least increase the drop rate chance 5-10%. Icebreaker ammo regen rate increased to stop ppl from chilling at the back of the map instead of engaging nearer the frontlines? Nope, now ppl that liked to snipe at the back of the map will continue to snipe at the back of the map. They will just contribute less overall damage/help since it will take longer to regen their ammo. Black Hammer? Hmm, I can't understand how they think up, create, and test a weapon whose main perk allows someone with good aim to have basically infinite ammo, then face palm themselves when ppl use it to kill things with said infinite ammo. I love Destiny. It has faults. But it seems that Bungie is all over the place with this game. I know a lot of companies like to play their cards close to their chests when it comes to why certain decisions are made. But have some transparency with large changes like this. The more info the better. Well, that was all over the place. /rant off -Not quitting, btw. I still enjoy this game.
