It's crazy to see such a elitist attitude towards the lighthouse. They don't want people that paid just as much for this game as they did to not be able to fully experience the content the game has the offer. As a guy who really only cares about PvE how is there not way for people that just strictly raid to be able to reach the lighthouse? PvPers have it great, they can get PvP gear and still go raid. I go in with my gear in ToO and I get stomped by someone with thorn. Oh but you guys insist that it's all about skill right? Ok. You're the same people saying I 'earned my gjallahorn' when all you did was get it from a random drop. You didn't earn it, you got lucky.
In the end if you want to put some exclusive area for people that PvP put a exclusive area for people that raid. Oh but wait, you can just come in with your PvP gear and still do it. Good logic is good.
EDIT I forgot mostly kids play this game so I should probably just highlight my point instead of having you actually read. If you want to have a special area for people that PvP fine I could care less, but don't put it in a unreleased planet when people that PvE get sent to the basement of PoE. That's just insulting.

I think everyone should get to the lighthouse and I'm the kind of person who doesn't mind helping

4 RepliesYour logic is fairly flawed as well. You know you can switch weapons between crucible and PvE? Plus, most PvP guns(like red death, thorn, TLW, most shotguns), are bad in PvE. Also, you say that PvP doesn't require skill but rather OP guns, why don't you do the same? If you're a PvE main, couldn't you do just as good with OP guns? Hell, I main PvE and I still went flawless. It's just like you said, it's easy with good guns, so you have an equal opportunity to win just as you have an equal opportunity to acquire these guns. Plus, an exclusive PvE area would be redundant because we already get rewards either throughout the raid or at the end.

Edited by Qwerty: 5/27/2015 6:07:57 PM
It's crazy to see such a elitist attitude towards the lighthouse.
This is the first thing in Destiny that is skill based. The only thing currently in the game that you need to be somewhat good to earn. Its the very first thing I would actually use the word 'earned' to describe. It is Bungie's MLG playlist so to speak. I would not say elitist, I would say accomplished few that welcome anyone else who can rise to the challenge.
They don't want people that paid just as much for this game as they did to not be able to fully experience the content the game has the offer.
You are allowed to enter trials the same as everyone else. If I am not good enough to beat a raid, I am blocked from the content a raid has to offer. That being said, the Lighthouse will eventually come to everyone. The map is clearly built to house vendors and offers grimoire, so Trials is more of a time-based access.
As a guy who really only cares about PvE how is there not way for people that just strictly raid to be able to reach the lighthouse?
If you truly only care about PvE, you would not even know about the Lighthouse.
PvPers have it great, they can get PvP gear and still go raid. I go in with my gear in ToO and I get stomped by someone with thorn.
PvE players can get PvE gear and still go Trials. I am one of them, and you can be too.
Oh but you guys insist that it's all about skill right? Ok. You're the same people saying I 'earned my gjallahorn' when all you did was get it from a random drop. You didn't earn it, you got lucky.
Winning a Crucible match is on par with winning a raid. Skill is just an entrance requirement, after that it comes down to teamwork, strategy and gear. Saying winning is RNG based would only be true if every player is equal, which it is not due to...skill!
In the end if you want to put some exclusive area for people that PvP put a exclusive area for people that raid. Oh but wait, you can just come in with your PvP gear and still do it. Good logic is good.
Its gear that can be earned without going flawless, just with an element. The gear is built for Crucible with its perks, and Crucible doesn't use elements. All gear can go everywhere, and the Prison gear is built for the Prison a lot more effectivley than the Osiris gear is. As for the area, I already said it is more of a timed-access thing. This was made as a counter to your points. If you are going to reply, please keep it civil.

4 RepliesYou are getting the same content as everyone else it just depends on if you actually have the skill to unlock that content. It is the same thing in most other games if you want a gold gun in CoD you must complete certain challenges not really any difference there
-
1 ReplyThe lighthouse is open to anyone...your logic is flawed. The treasure room is also opened to anyone....who beats the challenge at had to get there.(cough cough sound familiar)
-
I play both pvp and pve I have made it to the lighthouse and beaten skolas I like that both have hard end game rewards for those who only play pvp they will have trouble beating skolas and for those who only play pve will have trouble beating the trial of Osiris you don't hear the people who only play pvp complaining that PoE is to hard and demanding a way to get that loot do you if anything your just being selfish and lazy
-
Gamers these days want everything spoon fed to them. Seriously laughable.
-
1 ReplyExample You buy football , you play with it, do you expect a contract from Real Madrid? The lighthouse is a reward for teamwork and playing well before now pvp had no solid reward system for good players how is that fair when any scrub can be carried through a raid and get good end game gear and exotics?

The butthurt is strong with this one...

How does this make sense, you still have the content you simply have to unlock it. This is not new. No one ever wined to Rareware for Goldeneye because they weren't good enough to beat Cradle on 00agent to unlock the Aztec mission, or couldn't beat Halo: CE on legendary for the alternate ending cinematic.
-
1 ReplyShould have 2 different places for people who do flawless on poe, and PvP or something. But I couldn't care what they do in the end.
-
Look I'm really bored of this now. If you are not good enough to get to the lighthouse, quit bitching about it. Spend less time on the forums crying, and more time honing your skills. I've not played the trials yet. And even when I do I'm unlikely to get to the lighthouse. Am I going to cry? No I'm going to be an adult and move on. Jesus H Christ. I wish people would stop complaining about aspects of this game they are not good at or don't like and just play the parts of the game they do.
-
You paid for the opportunity to experience all the content you purchased. There are obstacles put in place because challenges are what make games fun. With your logic, everyone should be able to God-Mode their way through every raid and strike, and be able to obtain all items instantly because they paid for that content. I know I'm being polite here; but in all seriousness, you have to be on entirely new level of stupidity to make a post as... I don't even know what to call this... Uninformed? Yea, you need to be stupid as a mother-blam!-er to make a post like this. "Herp derp the enemies in Mario are killing me and stopping me from reaching Peach! I PAID FOR THIS CONTENT DAMMIT IM SUEING!!"
-
I've posted it before and I'll post it again... I’m awful at PvP and I’ll likely never get Thorn, forever an empty space next to The Last Word and Hawkmoon, or see Mercury in person. This is how it should be. Let the PvP Guardians have something fun and unique for once.
-
Would you be okay with someone getting the new PoE weapons and gear by playing crucible only?
-
1 ReplyYou admitted you can't win in Trials while also saying it takes no skill. If winning means you have no skill, what does not winning mean? Also, you kids need to quit bitching about Thorn. Use the damn weapon that keeps killing you. You might have some success.
-
3 RepliesThe problem here is that nobody wants to go out of there way to help anyone they dont know in trials and the gear you get can carry you through poe and not the other way... I know how to play crucible but I want to see matchmaking. Rather be up against 3 other people who just like me are all balls no plan.
-
You know what! You're right! I bought this game and I don't have Gjallarhorn! Why shouldn't I have Gjallarhorn when I paid just as much as the next guy did?! #SatireAsFuck
Hey buddy, guess what? Nobody gives a shit....okay?
7 RepliesStop bitching dumbass. You obviously aren't worthy of my Trials.
-
1 ReplyBack to your basement peasant.
-
1 ReplyAlso, how does one experience the content when you want to take out the experience the content brings? Really? So you want easy access to the lighthouse, you're missing out on experience in destiny. The feeling of going 9-0 and setting foot in the lighthouse for the first time is part of the experience, bungie obviously kept that in mind. In the lore, Osiris sought out the best of the best. You cannot change lore when it has been set in stone. Taking the obstacle that blocks you from the lighthouse is removing content. Content isn't always maps, or game modes. It's the experience it brings as well, taking that experience is taking out content. Find a team, and wreck the opppenents. When you set foot in the lighthouse the feeling of triumph will almost feel like killing atheon for the first time. Great job on bungies part.
-
I do both, and an tell you pvpers deserve a little more love. (Raids, prison of elders, strikes, etc... While pvpers only have Ib hardly seems fair)
-
Imagine the tower with no one there and nothing to do. That's the lighthouse. Its pretty much exactly like the PoE basement except here you can let your Guardian go blind watching the sun.
-
While the attitude is most certainly distorted, the logic isn't. What percentage of players have ever completed a hard mode VoG or Crota? It would certainly be less than those that haven't. Why shouldn't there be a similar situation for PvP? I say this having not yet been to the Lighthouse.
-
I feel your pain and understand where you're coming from, with the whole thorn thing. I play both pve and pvp, prefer pve, but it's hard to get to a lighthouse when all anyone does is run around with thorn. But good for them going flawless
