...from hero to zero in one week. Last week’s announced changes made just about everybody happy & then you went ahead and revealed Trials of Osiris. You alienated a ton of PvE gamers by not allowing matchmaking for Raids and Nightfall’s, including me (hate me all you want for having never done a raid), & now you’re doing it to the PvP players. There’s absolutely no reason not to have matchmaking for Trials of Osiris, it’s just a standard elimination mode gamers have played a thousand times before. Can anybody here honestly say that they've never played an elimination type mode in Counter-Strike, Gears of War, Rainbow Six, COD, Socom, etc? All of those games (and many more) were able to successfully incorporate matchmaking, why not Destiny? Will you inevitably be put on some bad teams while facing off against skilled fireteams? Yes, but it should be our choice to do so as solo gamers. If Bungie really wants to create a closed off game mode for the best of the best, maybe they should listen to the players and finally add private matches for them to participate in.
I can’t help but think Trials of Osiris is just a lazy attempt by Bungie to artificially create more end game content by doing as little work as possible (let’s be honest, ToS is just skirmish without the ability to respawn), and they’re making us pay for it! Personally I was hoping for a PvP mode with random modifiers each week. For example, one week maybe its control where only solar weapons cause damage & there are one hit melee kills, another week it’s combined arms where only sniper rifles & vehicle kills count, maybe another week it's elimination (which should be a free mode considering the lack of game modes) where you only have one clip of ammo, etc. Then again Bungie would have had to actually put some work & thought into a new mode instead of just rehashing skirmish.
I know I never post on here, & inevitably people are going to tell me to quite complaining & go find a fireteam on LFG, but I just had to vent. While Destiny’s gunplay and loot system has been incredibly addicting, I can’t help but think Bungie keeps going out of their way to disappoint me. I really hope they don’t make the same mistake with Prison of Elders; otherwise the Destiny season pass will have officially been one of my all-time worst gaming purchases.

1 ReplyFor those of you that are against optional matchmaking. Please go back to school and learn the meaning of "optional"

Use the forums to find people. Explain that you are looking to put together a team. Play some regular matches and get your teamwork down. Who knows, maybe you'll make some real friends out of this.

I dont even PvP and I know its a smart move to not allow matchmaking...get 1 or 2 people that play the AFK game and you are at an hindered from the start...you quit..its a loss. They even made it easier with only having 3v3 mode...2 friends is all you need.

1 ReplyMy opinion is that it would have taken you less time to get a group together for ToO than it did for you to write this.

4 RepliesMatchmaking for weekly heroics was the worst thing that could have happened to destiny. Afk players, players who just jump and run at spawn only for those up ahead to finish it for them, people leaving at the beginning or midway. I always preferred lfg and i always will unless i join an actual clan. Maybe its my luck but lfg has never failed me once in crota, vog, iron banner ( well maybe once because i played with some scrubs yesterday ), and nightfalls. Matchmaking for raids....lord have mercy LOL
ive played solo since day one, it took me 4 months to do my first VoG run and i did it through a lfg site. I wouldnt even want to try matchmaking if it was available for raids, nightfalls, or whatever
3 RepliesEdited by gator catz: 4/30/2015 12:22:41 PMI'm glad there is not matchmaking in the ToO! Just imagine going up against actual teams who are talking and coordinating strategies and you are stuck with two random squeakers with a 780 grimore score. XD

Hahaha no Gally

Edited by Don Diddles: 4/30/2015 12:45:01 PMI personally would not want to be matched with random players for this. It seems like you would need to be fairly coordinated to have a chance to win more often then not, and I find that ransoms don't really work well against coordinated teams. Just my .02

While I want matchmaking, I am set dead against it.

Edited by warlockftw: 4/30/2015 12:40:06 PMI was prepared to throw you into the entitled squeaker bin... but in actuality - even though I'm not too bummed about lack of matchmaking myself - you sir have one of the most well reasoned arguments ever formulated on these here forums. And I have been persuaded. Kudos and hopefully bungi gives it fair considerations

1 ReplyThe Chinese would've been better off using this post as the Great Wall

12 RepliesLet's see how Bungie feels about their no matchmaking when only 8% play ToO. ToO is being limited to a very small demographic. ToO is an epic failure.
-
People like options. Bungle didn't think this through. Why not give people the option? Playing with a random person could lead to a beautiful relationship. I'm fine with or without matchmaking anyway.
-
They are spot on not to allow matchmaking. Trials seems like its going to be hard, im not great at PvP so even harder for me. Id rather play it with clan members who I know from doing raids & iron banner then a bunch of randoms as it will give me a better chance of winning.

1 ReplyNope no match making in ToO is right on the money, if your looking for match making pvp play IB or crucible

Edited by ILyncher: 4/30/2015 12:34:50 PMTrials are based on performance in pvp which a lot of competitive players have been asking for.To bring in random matchmaking is crazy,it has ruined normal pvp by guys sitting at the back of the map or dicks just not doing anything to help the team.bungie needed to get rid of the vermin corrupting the crucible and that's the only way possible for this to run smoothly, plus I would trust 2 guys I play with on a regular basis any day over 2 randoms. The non competitive players have still a very good chance of obtaining all the gear from the trials.its not going to be easy but that's what it's all about.competing and becoming a better player overall. Bungie have not alienated anyone,in my opinion the people that chose not to do the raid, strike, nightfall, prison of elders or the trials have alienated themselves from game. The people who will be giving out are those who have never bearly step foot into the crucible.Crucible takes time to become skilled. It won't happen over night. If you pve only guys are still pissed go and play prison of elders.bungie has catered for both aspects.its up to you whether you play it or not.

You reduce afk, you reduce poor players, you get matches up with competitive teams...... Wipe your tears scrublet
-
I disagree 100% Trials will be great dude my clan is hyped
-
If they allowed matchmaking the forums would just be flooded with posts complaining that it's impossible to win in trials because they keep getting beat by pre mades
-
No matchmaking actually helps with the trials of Osiris. With the gameplay they showed it seems like a highly competitive experience that requires communication. If you have randoms doing their own thing then your probably not going to win and you'll just be frustrated. Just make two friends and practice till it comes out and you'll be fine
-
Im with you on being forced to find a group from another medium, most of the people I played with don't play anymore. What we need is in game forums, "social" areas should be for socializing not kicking a glowing purple ball with randoms, we shouldn't have to turn to the Internet to find a random team is the problem. That being said I will continue to play just not as much and without Trials gear.
-
Muted, thanks for the tears
-
You want matchmaking in a game mode where you need to win multiple times with the same people?
-
Lfg is so easy to use
-
Fail. Trials isn't for people who play solo. It's team based. If your not a team player, -blam!- off
-
I'm just going to point out that there will be a regular Elimination playlist with matchmaking. Meet two people there and take them into the Trials with you if you have to.
