...from hero to zero in one week. Last week’s announced changes made just about everybody happy & then you went ahead and revealed Trials of Osiris. You alienated a ton of PvE gamers by not allowing matchmaking for Raids and Nightfall’s, including me (hate me all you want for having never done a raid), & now you’re doing it to the PvP players. There’s absolutely no reason not to have matchmaking for Trials of Osiris, it’s just a standard elimination mode gamers have played a thousand times before. Can anybody here honestly say that they've never played an elimination type mode in Counter-Strike, Gears of War, Rainbow Six, COD, Socom, etc? All of those games (and many more) were able to successfully incorporate matchmaking, why not Destiny? Will you inevitably be put on some bad teams while facing off against skilled fireteams? Yes, but it should be our choice to do so as solo gamers. If Bungie really wants to create a closed off game mode for the best of the best, maybe they should listen to the players and finally add private matches for them to participate in.
I can’t help but think Trials of Osiris is just a lazy attempt by Bungie to artificially create more end game content by doing as little work as possible (let’s be honest, ToS is just skirmish without the ability to respawn), and they’re making us pay for it! Personally I was hoping for a PvP mode with random modifiers each week. For example, one week maybe its control where only solar weapons cause damage & there are one hit melee kills, another week it’s combined arms where only sniper rifles & vehicle kills count, maybe another week it's elimination (which should be a free mode considering the lack of game modes) where you only have one clip of ammo, etc. Then again Bungie would have had to actually put some work & thought into a new mode instead of just rehashing skirmish.
I know I never post on here, & inevitably people are going to tell me to quite complaining & go find a fireteam on LFG, but I just had to vent. While Destiny’s gunplay and loot system has been incredibly addicting, I can’t help but think Bungie keeps going out of their way to disappoint me. I really hope they don’t make the same mistake with Prison of Elders; otherwise the Destiny season pass will have officially been one of my all-time worst gaming purchases.
Opinions?

You never done a raid? What?!?

Friends. Forums LFG Clan Friends met on any of the forums, LFG, or clan. Don't need matchmaking. Don't want matchmaking.
-
OP: "waaaaah, I'm too lazy to find people and too anti-social to go outside waaaaaah!"
-
Friends? Clans? lFG?
-
Don't you have any friends? It's not that hard to figure out. Join a clan, make some friends. Damn dude. Match making already -blam!-ed up the weekly. Matchmaking is BBAAAAAADDDDDD!!!!
-
I have no friends. :c
-
I don't rely on randoms for constant win which is needed to drop da gears
-
I concur Well said

I agree, there should be matchmaking. 1 for solo players and 1 for parties. ToO disappointed me, it's just hardcore tdm with reviving. I don't know how some people are so impressed by it, guess they never played another shooter before. It's going to be a tad bit more strategic, but not by much at all. Same skill in skirmish will be in this, just watch for revives, no different. Can't wait to see all the posts about nerfing golden gun after Trials is released. Gear looks cool though.

Almost anyone who's matchmaking would get annihilated by a full team that's the reason. I think they were right to do no matchmaking, also if you don't have two other friends who play destiny just join a clan I don't understand all the fuss
-
Lol, from hero to zero because there's no matchmaking...

I do think it is great they are making a PvP event for top players... which I am not. However, I think you are correct that they are alienating a large group of players. For PvE, they make Raids, which are for top PvE, or PvE players that happen to be freinds of Top PvE players. Initially only the best go through and get gear... but as time goes buy, the Raids become more accessible to the masses with the online community posting mechanics and top strategies and then you will get people who have been through willing to help those who did not yet or are struggling. In the end, everyone gets the gear, more or less... at least they have the opportunity to get the gear. For this event, I do not see any of that. I think the best PvP players will get the gear, and those who are not the best PvP players will not get the gear. I do not see a site like DestinyLFG being a viable solution to finding players for your team... More than likely it will lead to frustration and heated exchanges. I just don't see quality players needing to go to a site to find groups and if they do, I'm sure they will find one they like and stick with it. More than likely those groups will be filled with players that no one wants. And that's fine, lets just say that 3 guys no one wants on their team decide to form together and enter... More than likely they will be crushed because there is a reason no one wants them... I'm sure they will give up trying at some point. So, while its great that top PvP players will get gear that not a lot of players have, they should also do it with PvE... and if their answer is raid gear... again, no... no its not...

I dunno man. Seems like if you really wanna succeed in trials you'll want a reliable team and good communication, if it's anything like ib then you definitely want a reliable team with communication. I think they might be saving you frustration by not having matchmaking
-
That is pretty dumb. Matchmaking for everything? worst idea. Scrubs getting backpacked, no reliability. I'm glad you've got to get your own team. It requires a ton of communication, and some people will go in without mikes. Without matchmaking, you've got to get a team of trusted friends to do it. Or risk it with two LFG players. It's end-game content, why would matchmaking even be considered? It's just two people. Why are you complaining?

4 RepliesYou are unable to find two friends and play?!!?!?!? WTF man.......
-
2 RepliesI haven't seen the Trials of Osiris reveal yet, so I'll focus on the matchmaking for Nightfalls and Raids. I believe Bungie has done this because people would just go AFK during them and essentially get free rewards. For Nightfalls, it is debatable since solo players (like you) have a hard time doing them some weeks. The weekly modifiers is cool though. Definitely would be fun

lfg is pretty quietly lately and last time I used it one of fire team was lagging a bit. Took us a while but we got it done.
-
Idk. I don't see what's so hard about a "toggle matchmaking" option :P
-
Raids: no matchmaking ... ToO: no match making YOU WOT BUNGY!?!? DYKSKUSTDYFUdjshtd
-
Look like someone has no friends. That's what the recruitment forums are for.
-
It was done to make players have to be better teams. they think by doing this it will make it more competitive but really it wont. Even in skirmish you do not ever need to communicate to do well or win ever. Yet this was done to try and force players to communicate because of the whiners about those players that do not communicate in game. ToO is their attempted mlg game mode basically meant for the more competitive players that work as a team and talk during the matches. it is basically their version of private matches for the game since you have to be a premade team before entering. it was also their attempt at a team based matchmaking system where you have to be a full team first before entering. where as regular crucible you do not, another attempt to satisfy the whiners that cried about going in to skirmish and loosing with randoms that did not communicate or work as team.

Edited by KCX CaptainKirk: 4/30/2015 2:15:58 PMAs long as matchmaking is optional I'm fine with them adding it, but if they make it mandatory that's when I'll be upset. Sometimes in raids I like going in with only 3 people and seeing how far we can get. If matchmaking wasn't optional this wouldn't be possible because we would be forced to play with 3 more. Additionally, with ToO I can understand that Bungie wants to make it way more competitive which is where the no matchmaking comes in because then you can generally assume that the people you are playing against are somewhat organized.

1 ReplyBump. I like your ideas for weekly modifiers.

1 ReplyEdited by IceIllex: 4/30/2015 1:19:44 PMUmmmm if you have played pvp before you know people can either suck, be afk, lag out, troll or be a normal player. With the Trials, you could have 4 wins and then get paired with 2 bad players and an afk. Then you lose all you credit because of other players you were paired with. This is why you have to get your own tesm, to get people you trust and can work with

1 ReplyFor those of you that are against optional matchmaking. Please go back to school and learn the meaning of "optional"
