...from hero to zero in one week. Last week’s announced changes made just about everybody happy & then you went ahead and revealed Trials of Osiris. You alienated a ton of PvE gamers by not allowing matchmaking for Raids and Nightfall’s, including me (hate me all you want for having never done a raid), & now you’re doing it to the PvP players. There’s absolutely no reason not to have matchmaking for Trials of Osiris, it’s just a standard elimination mode gamers have played a thousand times before. Can anybody here honestly say that they've never played an elimination type mode in Counter-Strike, Gears of War, Rainbow Six, COD, Socom, etc? All of those games (and many more) were able to successfully incorporate matchmaking, why not Destiny? Will you inevitably be put on some bad teams while facing off against skilled fireteams? Yes, but it should be our choice to do so as solo gamers. If Bungie really wants to create a closed off game mode for the best of the best, maybe they should listen to the players and finally add private matches for them to participate in.
I can’t help but think Trials of Osiris is just a lazy attempt by Bungie to artificially create more end game content by doing as little work as possible (let’s be honest, ToS is just skirmish without the ability to respawn), and they’re making us pay for it! Personally I was hoping for a PvP mode with random modifiers each week. For example, one week maybe its control where only solar weapons cause damage & there are one hit melee kills, another week it’s combined arms where only sniper rifles & vehicle kills count, maybe another week it's elimination (which should be a free mode considering the lack of game modes) where you only have one clip of ammo, etc. Then again Bungie would have had to actually put some work & thought into a new mode instead of just rehashing skirmish.
I know I never post on here, & inevitably people are going to tell me to quite complaining & go find a fireteam on LFG, but I just had to vent. While Destiny’s gunplay and loot system has been incredibly addicting, I can’t help but think Bungie keeps going out of their way to disappoint me. I really hope they don’t make the same mistake with Prison of Elders; otherwise the Destiny season pass will have officially been one of my all-time worst gaming purchases.
Opinions?

I don't know why people are upset by no matchmaking. Getting 6 people together cAn be troublesome from time to time but if you keep making more friends while playing destiny it's not that hard
-
4 RepliesI thought it a little strange at first, but can see the logic....Trials of Osiris is not a casual few games, it's end game content, bring your best and be at your best....if that is not your thing the game has plenty other things you could do, like erm the rest of the game.
-
Enough people leave raids already without matchmaking. Same with crucible.
-
4 RepliesWhy would you want match making in raids ?? I mean OK blame your sitting there waiting for a raid and oh no your stuck with a bunch of kids who don't -blam!-ing listen to you or bam your stuck with people with no mike oh shit your stuck with people who don't speak your language ? I think no match making in raid was the best thing they did. And who cares make friends. I've met a great group of people in destiny who I have fun playing the game with. Its not that hard
-
1 Replysurely if you're soloing, you should be matched up with a fellow soloer. or even the option added for 1v1 etcs... it would shut a load of moaners up! :P

Edited by GuardianzOfWar : 5/1/2015 1:48:33 PMHonestly I'm sure pretty made fireteams would love playing randoms. It would be easy wins for them. They added matchmaking to Weeklys and from what they said they are trying to figure out a way for NFs in PvE. Why not just do it for ToO? Doesn't bother me either way...Lfg will help find ppl (well hopefully...I'm very average at PvP). Hopefully I'll find ppl who don't take it so seriously that they care if we take some losses. It's only 100 glimmer to buy a new coin. Not like it's going to break your glimmer bank. Plus you still have a chance for drops even if you lose. You just won't get the gear already at 34. You'll have to ascend it yourself through Etheric Lights.

1 ReplyDo people really not have 2 friends? Am I the only one who never waits more than 2 minutes to get a full raid team, like damn...
-
You're a retard Everyone I've talked to on Xbox live says they can't wait for Trials because it will be competitive and fair unlike Iron Banner
-
2 RepliesLiterally the only reason they've not included matchmaking in Trials is to fool people into thinking its more special and important than it actually is. "Team work is so important in this very hard and amazing new game mode." That's what they want us to think. When actually your points about it being a rehashed skirmish, and most PVP players having plenty of experience playing elimination with matchmaking are spot on. And anyone who thinks that Bungie didn't included matchmaking because of how important team work/communication is, and to avoid afkers etc etc is just a little bit deluded. Its simply just to add an extra feeling of importance to a basic game mode that's been around for years. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, I've hardly played anything else since I got it in October. I will play Trials, and I will go through the pain of finding team mates on here etc and suffer scrolling through all the "34's only, must have Thorn!" type threads that will inevitably flood the recruitment page. But its just a little disappointing that they used such a cheap tactic.

So true.

4 RepliesI don't find it that hard to type a few words to get a group going for whatever activity I'm trying to do. Many websites have a system to find players.
-
If you don't want to play with randoms then... Wait for it... Don't. If you want to play with randoms, what the hell does anyone else care? Elimination modes work just fine in plenty of other games. The hardcore players get team mates, and everyone else plays with randoms. Pretty easy concept really. It's obvious Bungie is trying to extend their end game content and artificially increase difficulty. Lazy dev is lazy.

1 ReplyBudgie wanted to make a destiny community where players help other players by creating a common goal, completing a difficult objective to get gear and resources. They created a two way street that encourages players being friendly with each other to create a team. I think it is a pretty cool concept. Think back to cod, it was all shit talking kids trying to start a confrontation. Destiny is built on playing co op. And that is why it is fun. Playing raids, nightfalls, and crucible over and over again for months gets boring, but when you are playing with friends it is so much more fun! Say you make a friend in the tower and he invites you to their fireteam. You get to meet his team and make new friends. It is a two way street.. If you just want to play alone, that's cool, but don't except to accomplish anything. My advice to you is to go to the tower. Dance with someone invite them to your fireteam and be social. Never know what could happen. You might pop you raid cherry.
-
1 ReplyAgain.. Tower and reef social hubs... Go there.. Look at the list of players there.. Friend requests or send invites asking if they wanna do ToO with ya.. Just one of the reasons they have that "social place".... I don't get the over exaggeration of mm being the only reason you'd play ToO or not... how is it similar to Skrimish?? Point system? Overtime? Heavy drops? Play a good amount of skirimish to say the only similar thing is the team size.. But then again, its PvP what do expect in different game types?? It's meant to be at least a tad bit competitive with a touch of basic.. Tournament style; just like they have clearly stated when they first described it ...

as they said in the live stream " we will find you enemies, we will not find you friends," get some friends OP

4 RepliesEdited by Llalla: 4/30/2015 10:34:18 PM
"I can’t help but think Bungie keeps going out of their way to disappoint me"
DId you honestly type that? Seriously, do you honestly believe that Bungie's intent with this was to DISSAPOINT YOU? That they went out of their way to do so? Yes, I am sue the devlopment team was going, hmmmm how can we go out of our way to dissapoint CCreamer. The guy is an ass.* Opinion: You are about as dumb as they come. You take the fact that you are disappointed by something Bungie has done and somehow draw the conclusion that this was what they intended... just wow. I am not even gonna mute you. I can come back here for a laugh every now and then. * This much is true.

1 ReplyYes untrained squeakers and the socially disabled will not be able to participate in the event. Bungie knows how much we love sweet loot and that the majority of us had made several friends while raiding, grinding, and competing over these last several months.
-
butthurt?
-
1 ReplyYou're 7-2 on your current Passage. You can't lose. Matchmaking throws you in a game where someone quit or disconnected and the score is is 0-4. Your Passage gets crushed in the next 30 seconds. Now what?
-
Can anybody here honestly say that they've never played an elimination type mode
Yes I can. Always played team deathmatch in other games and Control in Destiny, back when I actually played PvP.
-
Of course a PVP gametype would have nothing to do with PVE content.
-
10 RepliesTrials of Osiris is a pvp'ers dream. The idea that all content should cater to all players is downright silly and shortsighted. There are different subgroups within the fanbase and Destiny community geared toward different styles of gaming. Without expanding out in all directions, this game would be shallow and wouldn't last 6 months let alone 10 years. And to claim that there is a lack of creativity with the Osiris gameplay setup is also pretty short sighted. Elimination with an entirely fresh interface for understanding your current standing, how many players have been wiped, audio cues for when someone is revived, sudden death, new heavy spawning cues (once a team gets to three round wins), fast paced 2 minute rounds, this is all new. All new END GAME gear that doesn't need to be ascended, btw. Yes, it would be silly to have matchmaking for an end game activity that can award you end game gear. This is the equivalent of a raid in the pvp arena. You should have to bring a team. And you should have to go up against a fully assembled team for the sake of making it as competitive as possible.
QFT. Same thing with inferno. I commented on a thread yesterday about the matchmaking. They really are alienating a large portion of the player base by not having optional matchmaking. My suggestion was to have two different ways to join. One way is you queue up solo to be matched with other random players who goes against another team of three random members. The other option is for teams of three to go against other teams of three. It's a win win, randoms go against randoms and never have to worry about going against insanely good teams and teams go against other teams for competitive play.
-
It's your fault you can't do these endgame activities. Easy solution: make friends. Not that hard
-
Get friends. Or join a clan. Lots of Lfg clans out there stop crying
-
Matchmaking would mean that it would be too easy to get gear because the matchmade teams would get absolutely wrecked.
