There are a lot of sniper rifles that are way better thAn icebreaker.
Is regenerating ammo really that worth it?
:edit: by a lot i mean like 4 - thanks for the conversation by the way you all helped me through a longg day at work.

1 ReplyAll the legendaries have a faster rate of fire than IB. Less recoil, too. It's good to have something that fires quick on occasion.

LDR 5001 and Patience and Time are my go to. Depends if I'm using my MIDA or not.

1 ReplyThe ammo takes 30 seconds to regen. That's per magazine. It's certainly useful, but it's hardly good in all situations since, in most PvE and PvP enounters, you'll have more than enough special ammo drops to feed other, higher capacity sniper rifles.

Ive been playing for a long time and never got blessed with the ice breaker drop, and so over time people built it up and up. Then one glorious day xur sold the gun I had wanted for so long and I bought two.. After a while using it I have come to the conclusion that its not really that good, in the right situation the black hammer is the best gun in the game and nothing comes close to how fast it can down bosses (I'm talking about spekis, the nexus, devil walkers and any other static boss) it is just unreal, ice breaker step aside black hammer is coming through! I also have two iron banner ones with field scout and firefly and what a sniper that thing is!

Yeah ice breaker is good but there are better LDR is really good it's just that iB regenerates ammo you cant beat that even though I equip iB until the ammo fully regens then switch to a different sniper free ammo

It's a good sniper with good damage but I also have BH which is just as good and quicker when you consider how long ammo regen takes. Got the something Longbow two not tried it out but have heard from those that have that it's a really good sniper.

1 ReplyIt is the single best gun for lamps on crota. Plus 2 agility. Get to a lamp turn around hip fire and 20+ thrall explode. Nice and quite around that lamp for a few secs.

6 RepliesIt doesn't just regen its own ammo it regens your secondary. An arc nightfall your patience and time runs out of ammo, switch to ib wait till it charges then switch back to p & t and you have 6 bullets

5 RepliesThe only sniper on Icebreakers level is Black Hammer. Preydeths is one of the best handling. But always having ammo no matter what is a great perk.

12 RepliesIt all depends on the situation. If I'm in charge of boomers on CE I don't want to run around looking for ammo. In that instance IB is hard to beat. I'll be honest though. The stability of my LDR 5001 makes me want to use it over IB in many other situations. I also recently got black hammer and I would consider it as good as IB. Only thing with BH is that in order for you to have regenerating ammo your 3 shots have to be precision shots. Not a big deal with big bosses, small targets are a different story.

Agreed. That's why I believe they sold it. If they come out with a regenerating rocket with something similar to Wolfpack rounds then they'll probably sell Gjallarhorn also.

I never used the Icebreaker because I had snipers that did more DPS, and a Thumderlord and Hawkmoon. Icebreaker basically sucked.
