So, the Community Focus....does DeeJ even know what that means?
Sure sure, let's just focus on drumming up some guys twitter and YouTube sub's instead of, i don't know, addressing some of the issues the Community clearly voiced their opinions about this past weekend. I mean call me crazy and all but isn't that your job? Or is it to simply turn a blind eye to what is going on and set the Ninja's on us to quell the uprising.
You know what DeeJ? Why not just speak to the masses. If Bungie can't give us certain things then at least tell us why. Why not make a reply to "the update we will never get" and go through each point and tell us what Bungie can and can't do. Is it really that hard?
I am not asking that you pander to us and reply to every post on the forums but when something like this happens and clearly a lot of forum users get behind it, then I feel it is part of your job to reply and address the issue.
If you can not do this then I call for a vote of no confidence in our current community manager.
Bump if you agree.
Edit: Normally I don't get like this but let's look at what happened at the weekend. A lot of forum users got behind "The update we'll will never get". Before you say they didn't, sure there was only a hand full of posts covering the subject but each one had 100's of bumps of support. I understand that is only a tiny number compared to how many people play, but not everyone who plays voices their opinions on here.
Now how did Bungie manage the community on this subject? They had the posts removed. Sure it is their site and they have their rules but they invited us here in the 1st place. We are all paying guests at Hotel Destiny. A hotel that wants a 5* rating but whos level of customer service falls far short of that.
Edit 2: Ok I feel some of you think I am trying to shoot the messenger here but I am not. Let's put it like this. I don't want DeeJ to step down, I want him (Bungie) to step UP. Give those of us who have our doubts a reason to have confidence in him (you) again.
Simply sweeping away an issue that 100's of forum members got behind is not good Community Management. To be honest it is not so much what was in "The update we'll never get" that is important to me, it is the way a lot of people came together for a change to support something and then the way it was handled.
Edit 3: Over 500 replies. I'd like to say thanks for the constructive thoughts posted for and against what I am trying to say. I'm glad some understand and I'm even more happy that a few of those who didn't agree gave the time for polite discussion. How ever you feel though, stay true to your beliefs. I'm off to bed now (10.20 pm here) and I'll see how this all pans out in the morning.
Again, thanks to you all.

Edited by SINISTAR707: 1/31/2015 9:31:50 AMIt's always amazed me how this community can be comprised of so many whiny, bit¢hy, pi$$y little moaners and nerf-hounds; always crying about how imbalanced this fu¢king game is and how they want, they want, they want, like spoiled fu¢king babies. But when you even suggest they actually do something as an actual community? Suddenly the game is just awesome. And fu¢k you for even daring to be a little displeased with Bungie and their approach to customer service, regardless of how you really feel about the game. You're such a b@stard for offending my precious, delicate little sensibilities with your differing opinions and calls to action. STFU. Tits or GTFO. NYPA. Amirite, community? Fu¢k these greasy, basement dwelling butt-plugs. I'll bump the $hit out of your post. DeeJ can suck my hind nut, and anybody here who thinks Bungie is doing good work charging us $15.00 for three missions and one raid full of reskinned guns, all while fu¢king us in the a$$ over our Exotic progress and previous Raid Drops, can form a line behind him. Christ, that's the least damn thing I could do. I agree so damn hard with this post. Edited for clarity and extra emphasis. I want you to read it the way I wrote it. (I've been taking notes from Bungie, since this game is so good!)
-
I guess he stopped playing destiny aswell. ^^ He is stuck on lvl 30 for quite some time now
-
I didn't read your post but I liked the star wars reference! Just sayin' :)
-
Maybe a change in the player community is due first? This is by the far the most pathetic community I've seen... Buff this, nerf that, i hate you bungie ect... No wonder Deej stays away from us haha.
-
lol the rebellion is on!
-
What does the "deej" even do? Nothing ever seems to get done
-
Just leave
-
No, just no. To you, this should just be a game, something to pass the time and have some fun. To Deej, or any other Bungie employee, this is their lives. Anyone that agrees with this thread seriously needs to grow up, your priorities are seriously twisted...... I'm going to leave it there and retain some maturity and I apologize that this adds to bumping your ridiculous crusade.
-
Reminds me of an old song... No you cant always get what you want.. But sometimes you get what you need.. Uh huh.. People need to slow down Destiny is young in game years and will develop and evolve over time Give it that time.. Demanding a kindergarten teacher to teach calculus is asking alot
-
I'm starting to really like Deej, and the team at Bungie.
-
5 RepliesSeriously? Hey, at least we have a community manager. How many developers actually attempt to take on feedback via a community? I ain't seen many at all
-
If you think you could do a better job, you should send Bungie your resume. If you get the job, you can help the community like you expect Deej to. If you don't get the job, maybe you just weren't qualified and you can then STFU.

1 ReplyEdited by Eta: 1/30/2015 6:14:22 AMAfter 14 years of being a Bungie fan, there's one thing I can tell you: If Bungie is going to respond, it's gonna be one of three ways. 1) They aren't going to do anything, and they aren't going to do anything else. 2) They're gonna respond, and it's gonna be what the fans want, and then they're gonna come through with it. 3) They're gonna respond, and they're gonna respond vaguely, or maybe not at all, then they're gonna have an update with mostly what we want, and it's gonna be great. That's how Bungie works. Edit/Addon: You also have to understand that David Dague truly does care about us. However, because of his position at Bungie, LLC, he does not have free reign to talk about what's going on at Bungie. His superiors dictate what he can and cannot tell. He has to abide by their rules or he loses his job. So cut Deej some slack, guys. He can't tell you everything about what's going on at Bungie, because he's not allowed. He tells you what he can. Lay off the guy a little. He does voice your concerns to his higher ups, but many of them just can't come through. Bungie does what they can, but they can't do it all really fast. Especially with updates; any programmer or coder knows it doesn't come easy or fast, and it's a grueling process to perfect it, and games are never perfect with code. So yeah, Chill guys.
-
Bungie should just replace him, yesterday's update was a disgrace. They used up a couple of paragraphs talking to a developer about how hard it is to fix the heavy ammo bug, but they didn't say why they can't reduce the cost of heavy ammo at the gunsmith in the meantime, that is a minor change. At the heart of communication from them is a complete lack of honesty, it's all just spin.
-
I couldn't disagree more. I think there are rampantly out of control expectations around here (not pointing you out, OP, just speaking in general!) This update spoke to a bug that affects every gamer, regardless of how they play destiny (patrollers, strikers, PVPers, Raiders). It gave an ETA for a fix, and tried to educate the pups just how involved software bug fixing is. My day job is an IT project manager, and when I started out it was truly eye opening to learn just how much time/effort/resources/money go into bug fixing. All that on top of building the next thing... So they speak to only one bug. That doesn't mean they aren't working on dozens of others on top of building the next big thing. So they also introduced a new home page, something some might not be grateful for but I feel is a really significant outreach to the community. Walk a mile in their shoes before you judge. I assure it's nowhere near as easy as you want it to be.

These updates make me feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. Nothing in the news feed would be better than a slap in the face like this. "Think there could be improvements to game?" "Do you have constructive criticism?" "Have you made and/or responded to countless threads explaining in extreme detail what the players want and why?" "Would you like a concise post stating what we are working on, what is a maybe, and what we definitely won't do?" (I.e. Community mgmt.) "WELL, SCREW YOU ALL BECAUSE ; this random likes the game enough to stream and become a MLG pro and so should you!"
-
1 ReplyGreat thread for some mass muting, thanks!
-
3 RepliesYeah! Go ahead and do a vote of no confidence if you want him to rise as the Dark Lord and emperor of the Galaxy!

6 RepliesDeeJ! Why is this game not everything I ever wanted? You are awful at your job because I don't like this game, even though you have nothing to do with designing. Doesn't that sound dumb? And people wonder why he doesn't reply to threads like this. All they do is bash him. DeeJ is not the ultimate power of Bungie so telling him something doesn't mean it's instantly fixed.
-
2 RepliesFirst, most of the points of that post were addressed in previous updates, threads, pr comments made by Deej or others. 2nd, you're right, most don't voice their opinion, the content, those who like the game, and are pleased with the pace of improvement. The silent majority. If someone likes something, they remain quiet, if they don't they will bitch loud and clear. 3rd, that post was just the same 1000 people over and over. If I post every 5 minutes about not liking the way my guardian points, it doesn't mean it's a big issue, it's spam. After dozens of posts, it's trolling spam. What do you want? Their meeting minutes? They communicate very clearly that they are listening, what they are hearing and what they are working on. They keep some surprises, that's Bungie, that's how they have always been and a lot of us like it. There is a much larger issue with the community not listening to what is being said than with Bungie not listening to the community and providing feedback.

2 RepliesEdited by Kontii Slyfox: 1/29/2015 10:51:45 PMI don't imagine you'll be any happier if he responded to the "update we'll never get" and it went something like this: 1) we're looking into it. 2) we're looking into it. 3) we're looking into it. Etc.... The worst thing a company can do is over promise and under deliver, so until they have concrete "can do's" and "can't do's", it's in their best interest to hold off on responding. A list like that can't be addressed in a week or two. Also, none of us can possibly know the array of long term updates they hope to implement that could conflict with the ones proposed. This game has been out less than 6 months, and had some foundational changes that had to be addressed first and foremost (and no, the ammo glitch is not a foundational issue, calm down people). They also had to make sure the planned DLC's would be ok to roll, since the dates for those were already committed. We all know if they pushed those dates back, it would've been an even larger epic fail. I'm excited that Bungie has opened a line of communication to the community, but I feel bad for them too. With millions upon millions of users, they're subjecting themselves to a lot of unfounded abuse in the process. There are very few companies that will willingly put themselves in that position. I'm just grateful I'm not subject to the same atrocious PvP lag switching, rocket launcher MODs, And aimbots That we all had to experience with Halo 2 days. Edited grammar.
-
1 ReplyHasn't DeeJ always said he has or will communicate players concerns to Bungie? In absence of irrefutable proof that he has not, I assume he has and Bungie are seeing if the communities requests are something they can work into their next planned patch/DLC/whatever. He can't just wave a magic wand and make everything okay. Similarly it would be outrageous of him to say, "yeah, I heard you, more vault space comin' right up" because if Bungie "nah not yet" then he'd have egg on his face and angry desticles after his man buns. DeeJ is our mouthpiece. He's doing a decent enough job and I'm happy with that because I understand the vagaries of his job. It's kinda like public service: don't open your mouth about something you don't know, and don't promise something you don't know if you can deliver. So, sit back and relax my friend. Good things come to those who wait....
-
for years companies, especially gaming companies, have taken the "don't acknowledge there is a problem until you got a fix for it" approach to problem solving and it works very well for them. Deej isn't here too tell us anything more then what his higher ups allow him to tell us. a good ex. would be this weeks bungie update "heavy ammo bugs are being fix in a couple of weeks, all hail bungie" the problem has been there since launch, so they wait until they ether have a fix or enough people know of the problem <HM crota raid really put a spotlight on this bug>

7 Replies1) Devs and community managers should NEVER respond to things like "update we will never get". Doing so encourages people to make similar threads in the future and demand responses. The last thing you want to do is encourage people to behave like petulant children. 2) Sometimes Deej doesn't respond because he doesn't have an answer yet. Sometimes he doesn't respond because he can't do so without giving up info he's not supposed to. Sometimes he doesn't respond because doing so will only be met with even more questions. And sometimes he doesn't respond simply because the questions and/or requests are asinine. 3) Some people seem to think Deej makes decisions. He simply does not. He takes our opinions and presents them to the devs. The devs may not always agree and a response may can't always be given. Honestly, I think the problem with games these days is that devs care too much about what players think. Players are often horrible at knowing what is best for the games because they are more concerned with what 's best for them individually. I think this is why a lot of games suck these days. Devs are too busy making games they think everybody will like as opposed to making the game they really want to make.
-
5 RepliesI wonder if Deej will actually adress the "update we will never get' gate in the weekly update. I hope so, because if he doesn't he would just fail at his job. Btw, he's nowhere to be seen on the forums since quite some time I noticed. When was his last post on here already?
