red death is the new ghorn
I don't want to play with people who can't stay alive and hold their own in the raid .
The new hard raid isn't about dps , it's all about being able to maintain a routine and help one another stay alive to deliver the final blow to crota .
The ghallahorn is good for shields but the red death is great for staying alive .

Edit 2: can't believe this has more then 500 comments now . I've beat the raid , and I've used both weapons but, I find red death more useful due to health regen perk . Hunger of crota is a great sub . You don't need ghallahorn .

Wouldn't be needed if Crota hard mode wasn't completely artificial difficulty. I'll be back to play it again next Tuesday anyway, though. xD

I use suros for the beginning because I haven't upgraded my red death yet. But after the initial fight with the acolytes and knights I switch to word of Crota and use ice breaker to snipe Knights.

3 RepliesElaborate plz? Ghorn is useful because it annihilates the shields of crota, the ogres or sword bearer if you are in a time crunch. Any decent team will be able to stay alive with the chalice. My hungering blade health regen does not work with presence of crota (I use razors edge to great effect) not to mention that even if red deaths perk does work you have 1/6 chance on each enemy to trigger it.

Suros can do the same but it's a 50/50 thing not guaranteed health back

Crota Hard mode is all about helping eachother staying alive. theres enough methods for regaining health in crota fights. Titans: bubble with blessing of light and mellee warlock: energy drain perks hunter: hungering blades and crota raid helmet and other exotic helmet with infusion perk also helps alot. if u have any of those helmet with infusion perk and the abilities in ur skill tree, red death is just a luxury, not necesarry

Red death is not mandatory at all in this raid but if it's your only health regen somehow then roll with it but better have a beast sniper and rocket launcher

Armor with healing perks are always going to be better. I have red death, have had it since around week 2 and Hate the thing. I got a new one from the chest in the abyss before patch...it sits un touched. Gjallarhorn owns my exotic slot at crota.

No.... Just no. Red Death is a waste of an exotic spot in HM Crota. An exotic spot that could be home to an Icebreaker or Rocket launcher. My bladedancer has perks for healing, and my armor heals me when I pick up orbs.

That's what judicious use of supers and wearing armor that regens health when you pick up orbs are for.
