Gjallarhorn needs to be nerfed. It's incredibly OP.
Oh? You want to argue that it isn't? Don't care, you're an idiot. It's the most coveted exotic in the game, the most requested when it comes to Xur, the most common to be a requirement for raid groups, and the most talked about exotic on the forum.
It is OP. If it weren't OP, if it were a balanced gun, then this thread wouldn't exist. Gjallarhorn would be as talked about as Truth or Super Good Advice.. but it's not. Why? Because it's OP.

You're right. Bungie did make an image. They even made a list, and Gjallarhorn certainly wasn't #1.. but that list and image were referencing the most used weapons [I]by everyone[/I]. Does everyone have Gjallarhorn? No. That's why it isn't the most used by everyone. Is it the most used by people who do have it? -blam!- yes, it is. I don't even bother with the other heavy weapons I have -- Gjallarhorn is the answer to pretty much everything.

There is a major flaw in your argument, you are basically telling bungie to nerf there only source of income. Think of all of the "Xur needs to sell gally" and "I've played xxx hours I deserve gjallahorn". Think of all of the people that have every other exotic except for [u]Gjallahorn[/u]. This is why Xur will not sell gjallahorn or nerf it for the forseeable future. It would lead to massive burn out. No one will know what to do after receiving or having gjallahorn nerfed. Bungie sees how much money they can make off of you grinding for gjallahorn, armor shaders, and ships. All of those posts about gjallahorn and hours you put into the game for one gun are just dollar signs to bungie.

If you think it's so OP, why use it? In my opinion if you hate a gun or think its OP, it's probably because you don't have it. But, you haven't even upgraded yours. If you wanted it to be nerfed so bad then why waste materials upgrading it?

18 RepliesYou don't use a Gjallarhorn in an Arc or Void nightfall. I killed Sepiks in just under ten seconds with a team of PoT users. Gjallarhorn is only useful for ROC strikes, Solar or no burn NF, and the end part of the raid. Everything else should be different exotics. Abyss - Ice Breaker Bridge - Ice Breaker Ir Yüt - Gjallarhorn/HoC Crota - Gjallarhorn/HoC Confluxes - No Best Exotic Oracles - Ice Breaker Templar - Ice Breaker/Black Hammer Gatekeeper - Hawkmoon Atheon - Black Hammer/Ice Breaker So is Ice Breaker OP? Is Black Hammer OP? Gjallarhorn is bad in PvP because it wastes an exotic slot for something you'll use once to three times a match.

Why don't you STFU, I don't even touch the thing.... For strikes I will [i]always[/i] use Icebreaker, for HM Crota I would use Red Death, for Crucible I'll use either TLW or Red Death. The only thing it's good for is taking out the Deathsinger.

1 ReplyYou say it needs to be nerfed, but you don't provide any form of evidence to make your argument convincing, even a non ghorn owner would think you are full of horse pucks if they read your post, so here's an idea, post a damage comparison for the ghorn to other rocket launchers, other weapons, heck even include dps numbers if you like, and don't forget to include the black hammers numbers in there as well.

1 ReplyI don't have ghorn. I want one though. Now my question is this: how on earth is it OP? Do you consistently struggle with bosses on strike missions? When you run ROC are you afraid of dying...do you not use whichever elemental sniper is the burn during nightfall? Can you only drop crota with ghorn? No. No to all of these things. Every single piece of content including end game hard content can be beaten without ghorn it just happens that the community has blown it (probably) out of proportion Do I want ghorn? Yeah for sure I do. Do I need it for any kind of content in this game? Nope. Will it make what was previously unbeatable all of a sudden super easy? No. It's all able to be completed just fine without one Will bring a subpar player who owns ghorn allow me to beat stuff I couldn't? Nope. Ghorn is basically useless in VoG where ice breaker is infinitely better and for Crota it's about timing and teamwork...not everyone having ghorn--for evidence of that look at all the PS3 users having problems all of a sudden with Crota. It isn't because they lack the gun it is because his stand up timing has changed. One forum post I read even says "Crota invulnerable to ghorn now" nope. The guy just had bad timing and poor teamwork TL;DR no I don't have ghorn; I want it; but no single thing in this game can't be beaten without it nor does it make you invincible even in endgame content. I think the time to kill is crap because that only matters on ROC strikes since nightfall will always be easier with a burn matching sniper. Atheon is Ice Breaker meat and Crota is going to depend 100% on timing regardless of what weapon you're using So please, quit with this nerf ghorn crap. I want the gun and want it to be just as much fun to use for me as I imagine it is for all of you who do have it. What I don't need it for is completing any of the games content

You do know that even people who run nightfalls don't usually use Gally unless it's solar burn. Using it is pointless.

The ONLY thing its really that good for is bosses. Truth reigns supreme in pvp. I'd rather use thunderlord for regular enemies.
