I usually get at least one exotic every week. Last week I got gjallarhorn in the nightfall, and last night I got hard light

Most people who do the Nightfall already have good Legendaries and plenty materials. The sole reason they do it is for the slight chance they get the one exotic they want.

Its harder than other normal strikes? I fail to understand why you have posted this as it is moot - Nightfall is harder than normal strikes, normal anything, it has all the damage multipliers etc and if you die you go back to orbit - why wouldn't people expect a pretty sweet reward for that? I know I know its all RNG - but there should be a higher chance based on the difficulty of what you are doing ie Nightfalls should bear the highest POTENTIAL (RNG) reward as it is one of the hardest game modes. VOG has its own Exotics that you can't get elsewhere (aswell as normal exotics) so is taken care of in that respect. Not to mention the problem that blights us all......we expect\hope for an exotic because everyone else gets one (don't hate, its a natural feeling some of us unlucky people struggle to swallow).

As annoying as it can be that people get whiny about their drops, it's actually somewhat justified. The loot system exists to provide variation in the tools you can use to complete the game. Completing content with one set of tools (e.g. Shadow Price, Plan C & Exodus Plan) might give you an entirely different experience than doing it with another (e.g. Fatebringer, Icebreaker, The Swarm). In general, most players who are doing nightfall are doing it for the Nth time, where N is a pretty big number. In order for the content to remain interesting, a useable reward is necessary; otherwise this player just goes another week of doing the same content with the same weapons. The game is interesting when you have a new tool to play around with. As an example, I recently got a solar Deviant Gravity A from the nightfall. I actually thought it was pretty fun, because I haven't really used an MG before in a solar-oriented situation because I always get them in arc or void. It's not an earth shattering change, but between letting me use an exotic primary and a more close range special weapon, I managed to have some fun running around in the phogoth strike and a hive daily, where previously I would have done the same old Fatebringer+Black Hammer+Gjallarhorn routine, and thus would have been bored. When I don't get a new gun or armor piece I'm just going through the motions in the raid grinding radiant materials and possibly doing bounties to re-upgrade my now 331 exotics, just to have them function the same way that they did before the DLC. That isn't fun, because I've done all of those things before at least 15 times. In order for the same played out content to remain interesting I need a new tool to change they way that it plays out.

I think it is BS when you get 5 strange coins or material, atleast give me more than the lvl 30 weekly heroic. But the real reason people should do the nightfall, that people seem to take for granted, is that huge XP boost.

I don't give 2 shits about his rewards, but he got like a red death or something and 7 shards I used a 31 warlock - got the crash (I have a comedian, found verdict, and sword breaker) Then a 28 (almost 29) Hunter. Got 6 energy. -blam!- youuuuuuuuuuu

It is a little different that the holiday gift. It is sometimes hard as shit and when you get useless ascendant energies it pisses you off.
