That did not explain anything. How is being sad/mad about VoG gear not being any good an invalid thing? I mean there is now literally zero reason to run VoG. Now if they had kept the old tower gear and added the new ones but made them require something from the VoG to buy them then I would be more ok with it, but having the old gear scrapped and the new gear be so much better then the VoG gear is just dumb. I am fine with the gear being obsolete, but I am not fine with them completely taking out it's usefulness. In other games they at least make it a stepping stone in the gear tiers, now you can just skip it completely and go straight to the new raid. That's pretty dumb. This also makes running the new raid over and over again for gear not as enjoyable as it could have been, because by your logic they are just gonna do the same thing when the next one comes out, making it so there is no reason to even run crotas end ever again.

Why do i need to get level 32? When the next expansion will probably increase light making us go to level 34+ I will save all my Vanguard commendations. Ascended energy and shards and every other thing. so I will stick to level 30 until the next expansion happens then buy that vanguard gear and be level 33+ If they follow the same pattern.

The gear is light level 33 not 31. I already have a full set for my hunter. If you max 3 pieces of tower gear and keep a level 30 exotic, you will hit level 32. Also note that, other than light level, the raid gear grants better perks. No tower gear allows for carrying extra heavy ammo or faster reload speed with special weapons. None of the tower gear gives perks granting extra super energy from oracle/praetorian kills. The gear still has uses in VOG because you can still hit level 31 mixing and matching the gear making the hard raid not so hard and who doesn't still want a mythoclast or fatebringer? The raid gear will always be better than the tower gear and those who have it will stand out from those who had to purchase gear to keep up. My hunter has yet to get a piece of raid gear but got 3 hezen vengeances, 3 VoC, 3 Found Verdict, 2 praedyths revenges, too much chatter white, and 2 hunter cloaks. No armor. I did it twice with my Titan and got boots and sleeves. My warlock got nothing but weapons/class piece as well. The point us RNG sucks so there needs to be a balance that rewards time and effort without diluting the value of raid gear. In the end the whole leveling system fails. Grinding XP the old fashioned way had been a time-tested and successful means of character progression. Basing it in random gear drops fails at all levels. They should rethink the whole system as well as ditch crucible for a more meaningful PvP experience that has direct impact on the story.

Anyone have a chart of how much light you need to reach the next level? Currently 30 with 3 new tower peices when all fully maxed will i reach 31? If rank 30 is 120 light how much light do you need for 31?

Quick question, (might be stupid) i have a 402 exotic maxed helmet, and 3 pieces of tower gear. If i upgrade the tower gear, I'll be a level 31, correct? If not, I'll just stick to my raid gear

Does anyone know if this will continue? I mean, I spend a lot of shards and marks on my current legendary outfit. Now I have to buy everything new and do a lot of grinding for new shards. I don't really mind, but if in march the new level cap will be 34 and in june it will be 36 and in august 38 etcetera, we have to do everything over and over and over again. If that's the case I don't think I will spend any shards on these new legendary items....

I think people have a fair bitch here about this gear, and I'll tell you why. I have played many MMO's and played WoW for 6 years or so, the problem isnt the gear grind. Thats just part of the game, the issue here is that they best stuff just became worthless by shopping in the tower. Some people say well quite qq and get gear, its the same as WoW. Well in fact it is not the same as wow, in WoW yes I agree, new expansion comes and gear is obsoleted for the new raid gear, that is completely expected. But in Wow the best raid gear from the game before said expansion isnt instantly bested by vendor wares. That last best set you had gives you a big jump towards the new set of best gear. Effectively this DLC has screwed every person over who worked hard and did the raid several times over for a full set. Now little timmy walks in, does some farming, buys a set more powerful then the best raid gear you had, in a quarter of the time, without the epic boss battle that is RNGesus. Thats the bitch. I understand that Bungie wanted to give newcomers or those less fortunate a chance to do all the new content. Thats fine, but you dont just insta-handout lvl 31 like that and piss on the people who worked hard to get to 30. They could have sold people gear that got you to 30 with less perks and that would have been good enough to the people who worked. Shit had I know this, I would have never bought the damn game and waited till now to have the better gear rather than blowing months in VoG. Speaking of VoG thats pointless now too, what person is going to hit up VoG to fight for a chance at gear that was just bested by the asses in the tower? Its not even a battle of being "special" its the fact that I sat down, invested 200hrs of time creating a character I felt was worth it. That the extra effort will help in future experiences and the time put it will grant the leading edge needed. But with this, that investment means nothing. thats the bitch. Anyone who played any MMO and RPG understands that you invest this time to build your character up to give you the benefit in future battle. Not just be slapped in the face when suddenly everything you did is now pointless. Just a thought. Im also please with the amount of people who saw the point I was trying to make even though some still play the "QQ get good n00b" game. All of this wouldn't have been so bad if more thought was put in by Bungie before they went this route. This game depends on the gear you have and the weapons you use. So when they make us waste all our time building gear to be powerful people get upset. It wouldn't have been as bad if this game was based on character stats, but as one person pointed out, doing this is effectively having 10 levels knocked off just to make the player base even for the new content.

I believe the reason Bungie provided level 31 armor was specifically for the raid, and to avoid the tedious grinding that the VoG was notorious for. If we were not provided this armor, the best case scenario would be a team of 6 30s, with probably 3 titans, 2 Warlocks, and 1 Hunter, imo. Titans for blinding, suppressing, weapons/armor/blessing of light all covered (weapons for damage, armor for emergency bunker, and blessing for overshields). Strikers are also the best class to lead the charge over the bridge given their flashbang grenades. Warlocks for their flexibility. They can decrease cool downs while generating orbs. While self-rez is a good emergency button to have, it won't do you much good on the final boss if you have a solid team that can hold their ground until you're ready for revive. Solar grenades are also excellent for battlefield control- walling off enemies when in trouble, creating bottlenecks, etc. Nova bomb is a good crowd clearer, but I prefer sunbros for their cool down buffs to teammates and orb generation. I only included 1 hunter, but that's just because our team really only has 1 true hunter (their original or favorite class). Golden Gun is very useful for the wizards, and the 2 gunslinger perks that stack make them very capable killers. They are also capable of generating lots of orbs- if they target the right ads (GG is underpowered in PvE imo). Whatever your perfect setup is, I highly doubt anybody will be beating this raid with a team of 6 30s anytime soon. The best clan in Destiny needed a 31, with the rest being 30. The tower vendors offering 31 gear doesn't just take away grinding for new players, but also current ones. Can you imagine a world where vendors only sold level 30 gear? We would have to wait for weekly resets over and over again just to get the armor alone. Imagine how many more resets you would need to get the Radiant shards required to level the up. Being that the Raid is the only source (that I know of) more these materials, and you can only get so many a week, this would take weeks. If you still use multiple characters of the same class for multiple runs, this may not apply to you but please try to keep those who no longer use this system in mind. TL;DR: Without the ability to get to 31, no one would have beaten this raid. The clans that have beat it assert that they believe 1 31 is required to kill Crota.

How can you be 31? I bought boots and gloves as level 30? If I level them up will u be 31 or do I need chest and helmet too??

Does that mean that doing VoG is pointless now that vendor gear is better than raid gear there? I feel so pissed off, cheated and robbed of my time, doing so many raids for so many weeks trying to get raid gear sets that are useless now. If this scheme keeps up I think I'll just wait till second DLC comes out and buy an effin level 34 gear from vendors. No point in doing raids.

Its the same. But the problem here is that it shouldnt be the same.. the tower gear takes you to lvl 31 and not 30 that kinda makes running vog pointless... So the vanilla raiders didnt get rewarded for their effort all that time into vog is pretty much wasted...

The reason people are mad is that some of us just spent 3 months getting to lvl 30 and now you can just buy lvl 31. It takes much less effort and time to get the marks. Also after all that time and work we have nothing to show for it we burned all our shards and energy's on weapons and armour which are pretty much useless now.

[/quote] No, it's not the same as before the dlc because we didn't work hundreds of hours for any gear which immediately became obsolete by simply purchasing it from a vendor. The vog gear was hard to get. Now it's worthless. That's the problem.
