I still don't understand why people think the flag is racist, it represents southern heritage. The school might as well become a dictatorship. Should I sue?
-
Yeas. Sue. People are ignorant. Ive been told it most definitely NOT racist. It just so happens to be associated by some racist people, but the flag does not symbolize racism. Sue. And/or give them a history lesson. And in my opinion, if you live in the north, or any city, don't fly it. If you don't want to get in trouble. But if you want, go for it.

lol get a tattoo of it and get expelled and raise hell in the south. and because of you you fancy, it rose again and you'll be marked in history as the catalyst for the confederate flag to ascend above all.
-
Please For the love of God sue. I fûcking hate people or organizations that do stupid shìt like this.
-
You deserve it you -blam!-ing racist -blam!-
-
You won't win th court battle if you sue

2 RepliesAs far as I'm concerned any individual person can fly the flag on their property. But it should not be flown on government property, since it was used to represent violent action against the US. And the reason it is considered racist is because white supremecist groups use it as a symbol of their ideals. In your case you might have grounds for a suit. But just don't be petty about it.

I'm from Mississippi and one of the flags we raise at my school is the Confederate flag... I really don' think my principal has any plans if changing that any time soon by the way haha!!! But the point is that nobody cares the flag doesn't bother anyone at my school!!! La Castaña!!!

The battle flag of Western Virginia is not a racist symbol, your history teachers should've known that and stepped in.
-
It is actually against the law for them to discipline you for things like this. What you have on your vehicle is your right.
-
It's freedom of speech. But, if it was at school you can't really do anything. You don't have rights in or on school property. Sorry

3 RepliesI saw a kid wear a confederate speedo..... And he was black....
he Didn't get in trouble lol
I graduated high school in Arkansas in 2004. Tons of students, both black and white, had them on their vehicles. The confederate flag is only considered racist in today's society because the media wants it to be.

7 RepliesCivil War causes: -Slaves (duh) -State's Rights: how much power the federal government has over the state government -Whether new states should allow slaves -North imposed huge to make profits at South's expense -Secession What South was like -mostly farmers -2% of people owned slaves -blacks were treated badly -hypocrisy What's taught in schools -Every white man was a slave owner with a huge plantation, beat his slaves like a redheaded stepchild, and hated blacks. -South= racist hicks that are racists, and they're racist, they beat blacks for fun -North was a wonderful utopia that never had any problems, led by the best president ever, Abraham Lincoln, who never did anything wrong -North decided "no more slaves" /riot People wonder why the US has so many problems.

19 Replies>people claiming the rebel flag is initially racist >2014 >not knowing about the Civil War The Civil War was built on the fact the south was not happy with the north's imposing ideas onto them, such as a tariff that would hurt the south. The Confederate flag was not built on their pride in slaves, but their pride in independence and culture.

Edited by Drakus Darksoul: 6/27/2015 3:08:33 PMRacism has been beaten on the institutional level, as has sexism. You cannot defeat a concept on the personal level unfortunately. Therefore we can assume that the attempts of the media and government to highlight racism can only be a distraction from actually relevant issues In addition the continued presence of "racism" allows for the continuation and expansion of political correctness for the sake of stifling conversation and as such isolating the voter base to insure that they continue to support a particular candidate.
TLDR racism is dead and politicians use racist individuals to distract their voters.
1 ReplyI honestly don't understand the want to be part of that heritage you don't see Germans using -godwinslaw!- flags for nostalgia I know it's a false equivalent but both are representative of bad times in history! I am just curious how you can be OK with enjoying that part of your history. I'm not saying it's racist but the heritage that flag represents isn't very fair by any means.
