So, all the 27-30 leveled people. How have you not given up on Destiny?
What are you doing in the game?
Grinding endlessly just for the sake of it?

2 RepliesIt's the lore Try it sometime And if you have friends it gives the game endless fun

1 ReplyIf xur didn't exist, neither would my destiny account.

3 RepliesWelcome to the world of MMOs. Clear Content and wait for expansions. Yes I wouldn't classify Destiny as a true MMO, but the situation is the same. Every game when it has released has had very limited endgame content. Everquest, WoW, Lineage 2, Horizon, etc. I could list more rather easily. But more content always comes via expansions and patches. Granted I have not cleared VOG multiple times yet. But I enjoy the game despite its flaws. Yes apparently I'm a heathen for doing so. But even if you have cleared multiple VOG runs there is still plenty to do. Unless you've maxed all reps and have no friends you enjoy playing with. I personally am working on different factions. That way when the new content hits, hopefully I already have the rep to get the new gear and can hop right into the content. But if you're complaining about lack of endgame the new MMO type games are not for you. Stick with a game that's been out for a year or more. This happens with every new release.

11 RepliesEdited by GeorgeBaggy: 10/19/2014 10:18:26 AM27 Titan reporting in. Got sick of the endless grind. What am I even grinding for? A 1% advantage over other players in the gimmicky PvP that's less fun or interesting than cleaning my kitchen? To help me beat the end game PvE in which the biggest determinant of success is whether you know all the skips and exploits to speedrun through it? To be able to repeat the boring missions I've already done 20 times on a slightly higher difficulty? I've never seen a game that is so grindy yet so shallow. The combination is atrocious and Bungie should be embarrassed if any of them care about actually making good games. It's no wonder Joe Staten left. He's always been proud and passionate of his work, and this game is a giant leap backwards for Bungie. It would take me pages and pages to cover all of its problems, while I can name the only two things they did well right here: graphics and music. That's it. Lots of players are hooked on the grind because people are easily addicted to the rush of dopamine that's released when you unlock a reward, however meaningless it may be. It's like giving a dog a single kernel of dog food at a time to reinforce obedient behavior. It's just a tiny, insignificant amount of food but the dog feels a huge emotional reward every time it gets one because they are cognitively wired to do so. Likewise, lots of players new to grindy games can't repress or even recognize this artificial addiction to keep farming for pointless rewards. They confuse this feeling for "fun" and Bungie is employing this classic psychological trick to ensare them and their wallets. People are simply irrational like that thanks to our biochemistry. If they can be exploited then they will be, but I didn't expect the makers of Halo to be the ones doing it. Thankfully I've had enough experience with grindy RPG's to be able to recognize one and quit it early.

Yes for some people that is enough, not everyone needs a story line to continue playing a game. Not eveyrone needs to have more levels to level up to to continue playing a game. Guess you never played d/d2/d3/bl/bl2 and had beat the game...yet continued to play just because it was fun enough for you to do.
-
See as much as the niggles annoy me and as much as I feel we got a very diluted version of the original concept. I must admit that part of what keeps me playing is not only the friends I have in real life that play but some of the ppl I've met while playing helping them in a strike or doing it together getting bounties done etc. Though admittedly my play time will drop once MCC hits.

8 RepliesPvping with that lvl 10 hunter is incredibly satisfying... When you clear a room of 29's with bladedancer... man.

I play occasionally now, mostly just for the weekly, nightfall, Xur and sometimes going to get materials. Not much left for me to do, already beat the raid a couple of times. Went out and bought Diablo 3 so I wouldn't be 100% burnt out, now I'm just 95%.

I just wanna upgrade my guns :/ it's getting boring tho

Edited by Krakendoom: 10/18/2014 8:22:25 PMNope I have given up. Moved on. The forum is still good to check in on though. Although I think my Destiny Days are numbered unless Bungie and Activision implement an aweful lot of content for free, and I don't mean the crappy weekly events that are the same tired stuff

I like to bitch on the forums while everyone once and a while forcing myself to play the game until I want to throw up. Why? Because I spent $90 on the Digital Guardian Edition and I can't get a refund. So I might as well TRY and get my monies worth. I hate the grinding of the game so I just dick around most of the time trying to break stuff, look for bugs, drive around, ect.

Edited by ChrisTre: 10/19/2014 2:42:25 AMI have pretty much given up on the game. It's simply boring, and as you said 'grinding for the sake of grinding' is not something, that I consider to be fun. That goes for grinding in general. And I play games for fun. I'm gonna wait and see what the 1st DLC is gonna offer. If it's more of the same, I'm out for good. Not interested in PVP.

Goal of all three characters, ofcourse all different classes to 30. Grinded to 30 on two, the third I cant find myself to even get into lol. Then again might be bc all I have left is hunter...

Edited by DEZARATH: 10/19/2014 3:05:45 AMI played two strikes this morning. The same one back to back. I closed the application, turned off the PS4 and just spent the day working on bills. See I'm grinding the factions up to level 3. But then I'm asking myself what for? The guns? To take on the same strike and same scenario over and over again? For nothing but rare or green payouts. I'd rather shoot endlessly into a cave than run one more "across map"sojourn to scan a gas tank. Or kill Sepkis Prime for the umpteenth time.

I'm level 27 and I keep trying to play but every time I get on it just can't keep my interest. I feel I do fairly fine in the crucible so I honestly have no interest in hunting down exotics especially considering I've never received an exotic bounty whatsoever the entire time I've played. I'm obviously not going to sit on my couch performing the same exact strikes I've played a million times again anymore than I have since I never receive such items after completing those either. At this point it's more like a COD to me where I only to play the game for a few hours in the crucible and than cut it off again. Now I'm just waiting for the DLC I guess.

4 RepliesWaiting for the day destiny allows trading so I can make millions farming stuff people want......? I mean because if you really think about it all games are just a temporary entertainment sink when you could be doing other things so much productive to make your real life situation better and more fun. So destiny or other millions of games coming out afterwards if they don't give non virtual benefit you will eventually give up on just sooner. - Tales from a Decades Old Gamer

Well I was enjoying my time playing but I guess I should quit if you say so... I was working on leveling dead orbit/vanguard to lvl 3 then earn the points needed for some legendary primaries. Just got the devil you know (hand cannon is my favorite weapon especially PVE) and crypt dweller which I'm looking forward to trying a new weapon style. Right before that I focused on completing some exotic bounties. I decided that I wanted a better HC before going for the last part of Thorn bounty. Now that I have lvl 3 rep in vanguard and dead orbit I'm going for FWC. Each day I run the daily mission Mix in some crucible here and there. Go through most or all of the PVE bounties. Collect some resources for upgrading weapons while completing a few patrols. Personally even with there being repetition, my goals are always layered. That way I've got something progressing in the background while I work on something else that sits higher on my priorities.

Edited by Jareth: 10/19/2014 3:26:31 AMA better question is why are you trolling the forum kicking up sh*t for a game you're done with and don't seem to like? Take a -blam!-ing guess smart ass.... obviously there are people who enjoy the game. It's been a while since I played a game online like this. Is this seriously what gamers are like online now? I've never seen so many butthurt, whining, delusionaly entitled smartasses in one forum before.

Some whiny bitches!!! Cannot wait till cod comes out. Loving this game. All you -blam!-ing babies crying over 60 bucks get off. Your ass and go get a job. This game is amazing and we'll worth the money and it has so much room for growth.

1 ReplyHelping new players get through nightfalls, raids, weeklies and such. Plus, what else have I got to do? Married for over 10 years with two kids who entertain themselves.
-
Haven't played all week because I just can't muster up enough interest to do the same old thing. The main thing I feared is the one thing I continue to preach, end game content will make or break this game. There simly is not enough content to warrwnt my playing that much anymore. Plus borderlands is out and I am playing that. Love that series.
-
It's the only game I have on my ps4... Otherwise I'm waiting for a good release to come out
-
Well lets see. 1. Helping my clan mates level and with the raid. 2. Leveling my other 2 characters. 3. Doing my daily bounties and story mission. 4. Grinding for mats 5. Leveling up each faction to 3.
