*NOTE: this post is in regards to the upcoming patch that will cause any 3 random people to be teleported during the Atheon fight, regardless of location.*
Good job Bungie.
I can see it now,
*3 players get teleported*
"Ok who will take the relic?"
"Uh, I'm not great with it"
"____ You should take it"
"Ok then I will take it."
*2 Oracles have already spawned*
*Minotaur is Half way up the stairs*
*blind by third oracle waiting for cleanse cool down*
Or better yet
LFG for VoG Have To Be Experienced With Relic, No Inexperienced Players. No Players below ____ Level. Must have 300 damage weapons, must be _____ subclass.
EDIT: This post is not about me, I'm speaking for the potential new players that will try the raid.

It's to make it more challenging. What's so fun about predictability? Also, those who only want people who have experience because they just want to rush through the raid even though it is setup so you don't have to but oh well. I hope they make it harder as going to enjoy the challenge when I find a group to run the raid and am not going to expect to finish quickly.

2 RepliesWhen this patch is released, I wont bother with new people sadly , it'll just be way to much work
-
1 ReplyEh... I think the patch means quite a few people need to learn to do new things in the raid. Some of us were getting a little too comfortable in our roles. To me, that sounds like an even better opportunity for inexperienced players to join in, since everyone is going to be learning other roles already. Also, people just need to start joining clans with good people. There's never been an issue getting new players into good groups in my clan, and I'm sure we aren't the only one with helpful guardians.
-
I will take unexperienced player to the raid as I have been doing for weeks, but I will most likely not take them to defeat Atheon, if the Random teleport happens. I'm taking time out of my play time, To help other even after I've finished the raid. Its just going to cause more issues than there already is.
-
1 ReplyThis it stupid. You makes us have to join a team to play the raid because no matchmaking. Then punish us for assigning positions. Never seen a quarterback play safety or center play point guard.
-
Agreed, but since they basically shit on 90% of the reasons to even do VOG, and with out a matchmaking system(more important than defeating smart tactics to defeat bosses)
-
This is a direct response to pushing him off the ledge... By having 3 random people be teleported, a team cannot guarantee that the warlocks will remain behind to push him off. The players' response: LFG for VOG. Have to be a Warlock, Experienced with the Relic, No players below 27/29, must be Voidwalker.

10 RepliesEdited by ♠Druscylla♠: 10/18/2014 6:50:09 PMI just wish they'd have allowed matchmaking. Like maybe add matchmaking after the first couple weeks so they elite and more hardcore people could do it, give those people a special emblem and then let us scrubs take a crack at it. I get that people want it to be harder and more organized. At the same time, most players aren't complete halfwits and are capable of this stuff. Nightfall can be soloed if you have the patience and time to do it but no matchmaking. Not to mention I've made friends from getting them randomly in strikes. The whole "Bring your own friends" thing saddens me. I haven't had my PS4 long, a lot of my friends are still on PS3 and being over 20, a lot of my friends just don't have the time to commit to a big set raid.

I definitely won't be taking new guys into the vault anymore which is really sad. One of my favorite things to do in destiny was walk people through their first experience. Now, however, it's just going to be too much of a hassle.
-
There will always be people that like to help. Don't forget that there will always be pricks also.
-
1 ReplyGuys should not expect to walk in, do nothing and be rewarded. But, you should be given a chance to show your stuff
-
Sucks for the new guys to look forward to doing the raid. I can see it now, inexperienced players gets teleported over and over, fail to cleanse or stay alive with the relic, which eventually makes the seasoned players agitated causing them to leave or kick the inexperienced fellas. GG Bungie.

Edited by UmbrusNightshade: 10/19/2014 2:08:02 AMI foresee this as well. Let's take the raid in Destiny and make it like all MMOs out there (or a lot of them ... nearly impossible for new people to try out the raid because people don't want to waste time and many won't give new raiders a shot). I was (and am) opposed to the Soft Kill Zone "fix" from the last hotfix and I STRONGLY oppose this so-called "fix." I commend Bungie for removing the ability to knock Atheon off (a legitimate exploit) but making changes that undo the teamwork element that they are trying to stress for the VoG is just ludicrous. If you (Bungie) think that it is too easy having a raid fight work the way it currently is it only makes sense to tinker with the encounter. But for the earlier change that added a Soft Kill Zone there is more creative and respectable ways to alter that encounter. As for this Atheon one, I don't get it at all. Why change something that allows a team to work with one another's strengths for the betterment of the group as a whole? I have not done the VoG and I may never get the chance to do it, but I strongly oppose this upcoming "fix." With all due respect intended, please "FIX" things that need it and leave things that work (and are not exploits) alone. Thank you.

1 Replywell said, i was thinking the same way. oh wait for me to get experience with relic first i need to be invited or play VOG to learn how to use it but no one will accept me cuz i don't have experience. Lol. pretty much same as real life, all jobs needs you to have experience but how can you get experience if no one accepts you to get experience. BUNGIE Logic 101

11 RepliesMy clan has a mantra and that is to help anyone in need. We've met new people that we otherwise would not have through helping them out in Destiny and them helping us and the result is stronger clan. If it gets to the point where we as a community we start saying "no" to someone because of inexperience then we've lost the point of being a gaming community.

I going to do vault of glass when I am at the right level
-
6 RepliesSo what your saying is, it's perfectly fine for people to just get carried through the raid by experienced players? Wtf? The raid should be a challenge for everyone, not just a hop in, kill a few oracles and claim a nasty reward. If you're inexperienced then well.. get experienced
-
1 Replyha is that the only way you could kill him ha you failed kid.
-
You can easily teach someone to be good enough to beat Aethon. It all depends on who you're playing with, if you have 5 experienced players teaching 1 guy it's going to be easier for them to understand, instead of 2 experienced players teaching 4 others. Staying and activating the portals is the easier task anyway, it really doesn't take much understanding apart from knowing which one to open and not letting the harpies self destruct next to you. Travelling through the portals won't be that much harder anyway, I thought The Relic was hard to use at first but it really isn't and aslong as you have 3 people that know how to use it you should be fine. Obviously it will be different and harder for people to understand at first, but in the long term it will be easier as players are understanding how to work all areas.
-
The whole point of a lot of MMOs/raids these days is to get as much experience as you can on day 1, otherwise you won't be able to raid a week later when 99% of people will be asking for experience as most raids are usually cleared on the first day and the information on how to clear it is shared a day later or so.
-
4 Repliesits really not that big of a deal. guess what the people who became good at using the relic didnt start good at using the relic.. so now only the people who are good with it sit back and use it.. guess what.. once someone who hasnt used it learns in a matter of 5 minutes what to do with it.. it wont be an issue and then everyone will be on the same page.. its a learning curve of about a 10 minutes.. its not going to be an issue so relax
-
1 ReplyI have avoided the Relic in my previous two Raids but with the upcoming patch in mind I just gave it a bash and it is a piece of piss. Don't know what all the fuss was about. People just need to shoulder the responsibility and show some front. You won't get better by not using it. It plays the same as Crota's sword or Blade Dancer but with the added responsibility of grenade/cleanse.
-
i will be fine I'm terrible in vog.... still get lost only completed it twice. .. but i have full raid gear and epilogue. .. it is very deciving... i am getting a little better each time haha
-
Happens in every RPG. People get tired of doing the same crap over and over and hate "wasting" time.
-
6 RepliesI've pretty much accepted the fact i would never be able to do the raid anyway when they announced no matchmaking. Shame because i hear it's the "best"part of the game. This change just means I'll never even be given the chance to play it because i have no idea how to even do the first part let alone the entire raid, and nobody likes helping newbies or first timers. Especially if it means Win or lose.
