I bought a car today. Well actually, I bought the basic frame of a car. Over the next ten years I'm going to get the rest of it - body, wheels, seats, engine, and even fuzzy dice to hang from the rearview mirror (after I get that too). Unfortunately, the manufacturer hasn't made those parts yet. I'm going to keep sanding and buffing the frame until they're slowly released over the next decade, polishing each item over and over as the make puts the parts on the market. I only hope I live long enough to finish building it so I can actually drive it and show the world how awesome I know it will be. My kids might even give me grandchildren by then and I can chauffeur them around. My wife doesn't like me spending all my time polishing the frame oveer and over but they can't see the vision I have of it in 10 years. It's a little frustrating that I can only drive it in my imagination now but what else can I do - mow the lawn? Ugh.

2 RepliesBad outweighs good, little hope for improvment as all they do is nerf nerf nerf!

Bad outweighs the good. Keep in mind I am mainly a RPG gamer that was brought to this game expecting a good story and great PvE with strong matchmaking... LOL yeah I got boned.

3 RepliesBungie just needs to implement the G-cards into the actual game so you can browse info while surfing the stars to your next destination. Also, ME had a decent (not great) voice over for the info on different aspects of the universe. I think Bungie can up the ante and get us some VO loving on some of those descriptive cards.

6 RepliesI picked option 3. It's definitely a fun game but no where near the great game we were expecting when it was announced. It's still young though, there's plenty of time to improve it.

For the first three weeks i felt like the #3 fits the most. Now its #5.

15 RepliesEdited by ColdAtrophy: 10/8/2014 5:44:48 PMMy new friend said it best: "This game has cool guns, great gameplay, and a interesting backdrop. It's a great foundation. It just doesn't have any soul." The enemies are boring and we know nothing about them. I am having trouble putting my finger on exactly what it was about the Covenant that made them so much more interesting to fight, but I think it has to do with the AI and the variations within the enemy types (i.e. - different flavors of Brute, Elite, etc.) I know almost nothing about any of the enemy types in the game, even after reading every Grimoire card I have. I'm still not sure exactly what the Darkness is. It is either A) some kind of sentient black goo or B) the collective name for all the aliens trying to kill us. I see sufficient evidence to support both options. This is not a great start. The main antagonist isn't identified on even a basic level. The Grimoire is a nice add-on. It isn't sufficient for telling a story. If the AMA is to be believed, someone thought this was the way to keep people who don't want to watch cutscenes and learn about the world they are playing in engaged, while also giving story-centric players some nuggets. I have a better idea. Skippable cutscenes. BOOM. I have spent a ton of time on Patrols. Every time I think I might have found something new or interesting, my hopes are completely dashed by a locked door or what turns out to be just decoration. I found a small room on the wall at the entrance to the Exclusion Zone on Mars. As soon as you enter, your Ghost turns on his flashlight. The room is ~5"x5" and goes nowhere. It's a just a small room. On the shortcut Hive route from Forgotten Shores into the path to the Devil's Lair, there is cave with an Ogre in it. It looks like he might be guarding something. There is nothing there. I keep running into things just like this and it's driving me crazy. Exploration is going to keep people entertained with the game when they are done doing bounties, strikes, etc. for the day and are craving something a little less structured. There is no way to organically discover the world we inhabit. EDIT: Also, why are there no lvl 25+ patrol zones? The story is.................I honestly don't know how to sufficiently explain my disdain for the story. I think it can be best summed up with an account of my experience of the end of the game: I killed the 3 "bosses" (why did killing the robots have any effect on the floating goo?) and then a cutscene happened. I learned nothing new about anything. I was handed a Level 16 gun that almost immediately became worthless. Then I went to orbit, looking for the next story mission. I hadn't realized the story was over. It was that anti-climactic. I wasn't expecting Mass Effect, but I was expecting a solid narrative. The game was advertised as being story driven. Hell, the back of the box says "Rich, cinematic storytelling". The social aspects of this game are flawed to say the least. Here are some examples of what I have issues with: - Matchmake into the Valus Ta'aurc Strike. My two random idiots are halfway through the level while I am fighting 25 enemies by myself. While I am perfectly capable of handling it, it takes forever and at least one of the randumbs are dead now. *facepalm* This type of behavior is becoming more and more common. - Say I'm farming for materials. I'm running around collecting chests and now someone else shows up. -blam!-ing wonderful. I have to leave the area and hope I return into an unpopulated instance so that I can keep farming the area without someone randomly taking the chests. - Say I have the Fusion Rifle PVE Bounty. Some other jackhole decides it would be fun to follow me around and kill one of the two enemies I'm aiming at every -blam!-ing time. So then I have to go into another area and hope there isn't anyone there. I find that I spend a significant amount of time trying to avoid people. This not good for a game that is supposed to be a social marvel. Lastly, the PVP lags like a mother-blam!-er no matter what I do. I have a pretty damn good connection. I posted a thread on it in #Help and no one from Bungie ever responded, despite the fact that I tried to keep it bumped for about a week. I ran a speed tests and line quality tests to 3 different US servers with my network under load and during local peak usage times. My connection still looked golden. I port forwarded, even though I typically just use UPnP and that works just fine, the ports that are listed to no avail. I really hope someone at Bungie understands that there is a portion of their user base that might be playing the PVP (and therefore prolonging the amount of time they keep the disc in the tray) if it wasn't for the massive amounts of lag. All of that said (thanks for hanging on here), this is a new IP. It's going to have some problems. I believe that this is a somewhat normal situation for a new franchise to find themselves in. They built a great framework for adding content on to. I will be buying the DLC and I am going to be forgiving on this title. I will not be so forgiving when Destiny 2 is released.

5 RepliesI Love coming back to this poll. Its fun to throw it in peoples faces saying that EVERYONE HATES IT>>>> I did a poll that asks about people leaving for COD, and I am loving the results haha http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/73214883/0/0/1

I guess I'll bump it too: This game does some stuff well and is addictive. I'll give it that. Good mechanics, visuals and soundtrack (although I wish I could up the sensitivity). But that's about it for me. Lost Planet 2
a game I sunk hours into
had better story, NET code, and all around fun experience to it than Destiny. All the bosses were different and you had to figure out how to beat each one. The missions weren't repetitive at all and you could have a lot of fun just screwing around. Destiny could've been a million times better
and silenced a lot of the critics and complainers
if they had integrated good storytelling (which they did so well with Halo), a really balanced/not laggy PVP, and a more rewarding loot system. But all that's been covered in great depth by numerous youtubers so I'll just mention my opinion on another topic. I see all kinda of community members, from die hard fanboys to jaded fans. While both sides (rarely) raise a good point, I personally get bugged by one line of thinking in particular Grimoire. Bungie could have aced this mechanic with one simply line of thought. First: Pour an actual effort into the story. The one we got was garbage. Yeah Halo:CE didn't have the "BEST" storytelling, but it was still good. And after all this time Bungie should have at least gotten this skill set in stone. An engaging story grips gamers and really has them thirsting for more. Second: the cards are all lore. People who say the story is in the cards.... Check again. It's not story at all, simply more lore. The reason the cards get a bad rap at times is because one side makes the preposterous claim that that's where the story is, and the other side denies it with much enthusiasm. If the story was actually gripping, people would be working hard to unlock the cards and read them to learn more. As it is, looking for ghosts is tough work and not entirely rewarding given the fact that the expanding universe isn't expanding something we're really curious about it. AAAAND if you read all that, you the real MVP. I rarely read super long replies/threads. But I played LP2 recently, and it really got me thinking how a game released in 2010 still kept me coming back for fun while a game released a month ago feels like a chore to play through at times.

3 RepliesBest thread I've seen by far lots to read and lots of constructive criticism in the comments I like it.

1 Replyi only been playing for 2 hours and i'm already bored of it

5 RepliesReminds me off brink where there's this great idea that was executed the way everyone wanted. The only difference is destiny was done by bungie so there were higher expectations.

5 RepliesThere is a lot of room for improvement, but the game is pretty hard to put down, at least for me. Here's my two main problems. -Repetition (same bosses, same maps, same missions, yadda yadda) -Multiplayer can be incredibly unrewarding. What do i mean? well so far, no matter how well i do in a match, 9 out of 10 times i get nothing. while others who did (not bad, not saying that, i mean most of the time i am 3rd in the team) not as good... Get stuff. I will share an image, maybe someone can explain to me how that works. Other than that, the shooting is excelent, the multiplayer is fun (would it be impossible to mix things up in the iron banner? i dunno like switching modes for a day or two? just asking). Overall i like Destiny and i am sticking with it, like i did with halo while bungie made those.

7 RepliesI love the game but it does still need work. I'm hoping over time Bungie continues to listen to the community and fix things.
-
9 RepliesThe people who say this game is awful are just the people who have to have perfection the first 1/2 months the game cam out. I bet these people have sold there copy and still are trying to make post saying how awefull the game is just so they can try and sabotage the fun for the others. Bungle did a great job they just need a little while to work out the flaws
-
3 RepliesThe game is far from flawless, but it is no where near the train wreck that some morons on this site claim it to be. All the legitimate issues can be remedied in patches or future expansions.

3 RepliesEdited by Bob3sniper: 10/9/2014 10:32:08 PMGames like this require a lot of patience. I'm pretty sure that WoW wasn't perfect when it first came out now look at it. And come on who doesn't like jumping on and killing some fallen with a group of friends.

4 RepliesFun, just not enough end game content. For a 60$ game I expected more cotent to be available at launch rather than saving it for DLC 3 months down the road. The cost/content for the DLC will determin if this game has any long term possibilities for me.

14 RepliesFree blacksmith shader I'm tired of the code sitting around on my recite not being used , all you have to do is explain to me why you want it. The best one wins the shader. Also if you have limited edition when your in multiplayer or in a group of people and your the only one that has the most bad ass ship that's a legandary, do you get the feeling to tell in your mic get to my level?
